Wah.
Unfair!
Do you have a point, or a newsletter?
More likely a Facebook page, and a Twitter feed with Robert F. Kennedy, Jr at the top.
You are far too kind. The sentiments I have for @Chicago_Faucet would be verboten even in The Pit. But in lieu of that:

When I began getting a vaccination against flu, many years ago, I was told that it was 80% effective and if I was in the 20% who caught the flu anyway, I would probably get a milder case.
That is about the same we (in Europe) have been told of the Covid vaccine, except that it is a bit less effective.
I have had the vaccine against Covid, one vaccination, one booster two months after, which should improve the effectiveness, and one booster in November, which should be more effective against the Omicron variant. I had Covid too in September. Not many symptoms, except for a mild cough and a headache for four days. I guess the mild case is because of the vaccine. I have a few conditions which could have made it very serious.
This is only anecdotal evidence, but statistically it is the way to bet.
Thanks for this, I was just jumping in to mention flu vaccines.
The efficacy of flu vaccines varies from year to year, and frequently doesn’t break 50%. This still means that a whole lot of vaccinated people that are exposed to flu don’t get it, or get a milder case than they would’ve if they’d been unvaccinated.
And, from a public health perspective, vaccination slows the spread through the population which also means that fewer people get the flu than they would in a world with no flu vaccines, although these concepts are apparently beyond the reach of the typical right-wing brain.
And as to comorbidities, it’s important to recognize than people had comorbidities long before Covid. People in car accidents and gunfights frequently die from injuries that would be survivable if they were in perfect health, yet no one has ever suggested that they didn’t really die from a car accident or gunshot wound, or that those deaths shouldn’t be classified as such.
Such stupidity is only associated with Covid.
I see the vaccines as being like a bulletproof vest, they aren’t going to keep the bullets away but they may eliminate or lessen the impact, and if I’m somewhere where bullets are flying I’m going to want one.
And for whatever reason, the bloody RW conspiracy theorist, anti-vax, COVID deniers forget the catastrophic and insane body counts in places like New York and Italy. Fast forward to now and, for many people, it’s like it never happened.
I’ve been vaxxed (incl boosters) five times. For the non-believers I would love to know how I, a 64 yr old, went from testing positive five days ago, feeling like crap for the first couple of days, to going for a 40 km bike ride yesterday. The stupidity and ignorance astonishes me
i don’t mean to take issue with your logic or demean your impressive accomplishment, but … isn’t 40 km like … maybe 75 feet?
[ducks]
You do know of course that Bill Gates’ injected chips distort space-time don’t you?
Oh Jesus Christ. Here’s another one.
“We’ve had enough of the bloody loaves and stinking fishes! Do that wine trick again with the water!”

Gee, Dr. Faucet, tell me more about immunity! Like how does mutations in an infectious agent affect immune responses? Oh, and tell me about waning immunity and how that could be age-dependent. Oh and tell me about how virulence factors in pathogenic organisms override and even use the hosts immune response to their advantage.
I mean, the guy in this link kind of explains it, but it’s in Science, so I’m not sure I can trust it.

Dude, you don’t follow any of this, and you are claiming that I’m the one that is ignorant? Please.
Look these up on your own time. Don’t waste ours:
Dr. Malone, one of the inventors of the mRNA technology.
Alex Berenson, reporter for the New York Times, just for saying that, “It doesn’t stop infection. Or transmission. Don’t think of it as a vaccine,” which is true.
Many, many others.
“LIKE WHO”
Do your own research, unless you also think that is dangerous.
Nope. You have a very selective memory. Why did they even call them “breakthrough cases” then? Why not just “cases”?
Because that would look bad for the vaccine (even though you and others here clam that vaccines don’t make you immune). Make up your mind.
Back then, there was all sorts of news that was being shunned. Breakthrough cases didn’t exist. But, then, they did exist, but in really, really small. numbers. Now, it is the norm to get Covid even after getting all the shots.
You really do have a selective memory on this.
…dude. If you want to debate covid, then do it in one of the debate forums. If you think your ideas can stand up to scrutiny, then do it over there.
But here in the pit? Here’s a song for you.
“Fuck you (Fuck you), fuck you very, very much
'Cause we hate what you do
And we hate your whole crew
So, please don’t stay in touch”
Well, I read your posts here.
You’re not funny or interesting anymore.
You’re just stupid.
What changed you?
You’re old threads were good.
Hmmm?
And here i thought you might have the grace to apologize for having been an asshole to me. Writing off my mother’s death as due to comorbidities, after backing off from assuring me i was wrong about it’s cause.
Fuck you.
Fuck you, you willfully ignorant piece of shit. Fuck you for actively lying about what was published when the vaccines came out. Fuck you for lying right here. What the fuck do you think a “breakthru case” is, if not a subset of “cases”. Fuck you for promoting a culture of death.
I didn’t say you were ignorant (you are), I said you are an idiot (you are). All part of the problem of being an omega male more than likely.
Now what might be different about what Alex has said vs. what Biden and Maddow said? You like doing your own research so I’ll let you figure it out.
By the way, people who say “do your own research” don’t generally know what that means or entails. They typically take it to mean find sources of information that agree with my preconceived ideas and accept them as fact, as shown in this short documentary. Research actually involves looking at evidence, considering it in a critical way (this involves many elements), and coming to a reasoned conclusion which is open to change based on new evidence. Again, you know, scientist, so mentioning “do my own research” to me is pretty stupid. But you are stupid so that’s in keeping with your omeganess.
Did Alex Berensen exhibit these characteristics based on how wrong he was? Did he change his conclusions based on changing evidence? If not, then why not? And if not, then why would anybody put any value in what he has to say? (this is a small example of critical thought)
Narrator: They couldn’t.
Traditionally, a question is phrased in a variation of a format like “Why does such and such work like that?” or “How does that thing happen?” and then waiting for a response in the form of an answer. It’s not simply making stupid or ill-informed statements and declaring something “wrong” because it doesn’t fit into whatever narrative you believe.
Well, in my opinion, there are two levels of “doing your own research”. The first is reading the published study that an article is based on, or searching for studies on a topic of interest. It’s not really doing research on a science level, but it is on a journalism level. I do this a lot, and (i know you’ll all be shocked) the headlines often get it wrong. In general, study results are less interesting than the headline that sent me looking for them.
The second is actually doing the experiment yourself. Most of us don’t have the resources to do that with a topic like covid. But when my son’s FIL challenged my belief that my heavy cast iron tea kettle would retain heat better than a mug, i actually tested it. He was right, i was wrong. The tea in the mug stayed warm longer.
I decided that i enjoyed using my tea kettle anyway, but i no longer claim it has any practical benefit.
