How the fuck does one man kill so many people with a gun? Is this some sort of record for a murder spree by one man? The closest I could find was a Korean police officer who went on a bender and murdered over 50 people back in 1982. It boggles the mind. Or at least it boggles my mind.
One reason could be the police uniform. One eyewitness said that in the beginning the group s/he was in could not see anyone, and just heard shooting, but when they saw someone in a police uniform they came out of hiding thinking the police were there and had things under control. Only of course to be shot at themselves.

I read one account that said he lured them closer with the police uniform. Also it is an island. People tried to flee into the water but he killed many of them too. Some tried to play dead but he walked through the carnage shooting the bodies on the ground to make sure. He had at least a shotgun, a “machine gun” of unspecified type and a Glock handgun. He also planted a bomb elsewhere a few hours earlier so it stands to reason he had more bombs at the massacre, maybe even pre-planted.

I do want to point out though that Timothy McVeigh wasn’t a lone nut. Just this year a similar (and possibly related) group tried to set a bomb off at a MLK Parade in Washington State but luckily someone noticed it on a bench and reported it before it went off.

Owing to the fact that I’m a horrible person I always wonder how a guy with a gun doesn’t manage to kill 50+ people. They just need enough mags, a decent location, and to possess average shooting ability and it wouldn’t be too difficult to kill a couple hundred, especially if it’s a place where everyone is clumped together. Thankfully they don’t seem to plan it out very well most of the time.
