I pit this war for a totally selfish reason...

Do you have any idea how hard it is to do a vanity search when your name is Max Carnage and there is a war going on??? Wouldn’t be so bad if I could use “max” in the search but it’s too short and gets ignored. So when I search for “Carnage” to see what all my fans are saying about me, I get post after post describing the horrors of war, debates of liberals v conservatives, and the occasional thread about how a slaughterhouse works.

Damn you, War!

Finally someone has come up with a valid reason to complain about it.

Well done!

On a related note, if you’re a lurker considering a username and you think vanity searches may be in your future, I’m going to go ahead and recommend against naming yourself after a place with a daytime population of 3.5 million. Also, nuclear development projects and cocktails containing rye.

Consider changing your name to Maxi Carnage. It will probably significantly alter your vanity search results.

…and my self-respect.

I think my wife will have me pick her up a box of Maxi Carnages next month.

Can I comprehend your search problems?

Why yes, I believe I most certainly can.

My vanity searches have gotten much more difficult now that the Pixies have decided to have a reunion tour. On the plus side, it’s nice to catch on when dopers are talking about alternative music!

I never do vanity searches because no ever talks about me. Ever.

but maybe I should check

Not if you put it in quotes.

Another suggestion: if you’re going to pick a user name that’s a real word at least choose an uncommon noun, rather than the present participle of a common verb.

You can change your name to Max Power, the man whose name you’d love to touch.

But you mustn’t touch.

Not that I do vanity searches anyway, because no one talks about be, but I just tried one thanks to this thread and lemme tell 'ya, two three letter words do not a vanity search make.

I wanna grow up to be, be a …

Debaser!

I haven’t been here in ages so I don’t vanity search. And Rasa (no it’s not Spanish it’s Sanskrit) is probably safe, search-wise!

I feel your pain. When I conduct vanity searches on my first name only (since that is how I tend to be addressed in threads), the results are obfuscated by hits about apples, mountains in Japan, cameras, film, photography, bicycles and a few other odds and ends.
