I Resolve To Start The New Year MMP

Great Minds Think Alike

Oh, sunny, I’m so sorry about Pixel. I hope his remaining time here with you will be sweet and serene.

Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Off to heave.

They did have a biscuit shaped pillow(non edible). But the only food is the seasoning.

{{{{Sunny and Pixel}}}}

I crashed hard, then woke at 3 to visit the necessary. I discovered that my gut issues continue, and that’s as far as I’ll go in order to avoid TMI. It’s nearly 5 and I’m still awake. Oh well.

FCD will take Mom’s car to get new tires today. Three of hers are dangerously worn and apparently she replaced one fairly recently. She is so clueless about cars and I can’t believe her car guy didn’t notice the tires. Anyway, it’ll be a birthday present for her…

Beyond that, no plans for today. Yet.

Happy Tuesday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 67 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 79 with light rain predicted for later. I shall take twuck in for an oil change this mornin’. That is the extent of today’s excitatement. Sup shall be steak, sallit, twiced baked N.O.T., and cheesey garlic bread. We both have a gnawin’ and a cravin’ for steak.

MOOOOOOM glad y’all made it safe and sound.

red have a safe rest of the way home trip.

{{{Sunny and Pixel}}}

Nameless couldn’t make the link work. I am sure that is solely because I are not sm*rt.

Now I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then, bother of bothers, since I am to go out in public I suppose I should purtify and don appropriate attire, like anybody would probably care at the oil change place.

Happy Tuesday Y’all!

I keep meaning to ask - is this your recipe or something ready-made?

Tahred… but I couldn’t fall back to sleep. It’s gonna be a long day.

Good morning everyone.

It’s still very, very frigid here and more snow fell overnight. My son left for home yesterday and it took him over two hours to get home, but he made it without incident and that’s what’s important.

Sunny, I’m sending you hugs.

FCM, I’m glad you all made it safely, but am sorry you have gut issues. That just sucks.

Work was pretty nutty yesterday and it will continue today. At least I’m working from home.

We need to fill our tube feeders today, as the birds have been going nuts over them and the suet feeder. It’s non-stop all day. Our birds don’t even care when we’re out there changing the feeders out they swoop in and eat at one while we are swapping out another. They also hover in front of our window and stare inside at us. They are often more entertaining than TV. We have black-capped chickadees, chestnut-backed chickadees, bushtits, house finches, house sparrows, dark-eyed juncoes, nuthatches, northern golden flickers, hairy woodpeckers, and goldfinches. The crows and stellar jays also come. It’s wild. The flickers are supposed to be migratory, but they still hang out here.

I’m going to have to get to the store to get the fixings for my prime rib soup. I’m looking forward to having some of that.

Well, time for some more coffee.

Morning all. A balmy 64F this morning already, heading for 73F and a 50-60% chance of rain sometime today. May head to the local Barnes and Noble for some post-Xmas shopping today but nothing planned on the agenda. Just spent some bucks on a plane ticket to Seattle in May for my Cruise trip, still need to decide on Hotel and when/how I return.

{{{Pixel and Sunny}}}. Some extra scritches from me.

FCM, glad you made it OK. Hope you can catch a nap sometime this afternoon. And that the first time I’ve heard the bathroom described as the ‘necessary’ in quite some time–lovely old term. When I’m feeling pretentious (not very often), I’ll call it the WC.

OK, pills taken so wait about an hour and then forage for materials to break fast. All y’all take care.

12º Ferret Height. The forecast says it should get up to 25 between 13:00 and 15:00, and it looks like it will cool down to 18º 07:00 to 09:00 tomorrow. We might have a high of 30º Thursday, 37º Saturday (Above freezing!), and 44º Sunday. And then the projected highs go back to the 30s – which is better than the teens.

I put a cup cozy on the top ⅓ to ½ of one of the hummingbird feeders. I’ll wait until daylight to put it up, and see if it helps.

Afternoon all.

Just got back, after a few days up with the parents- finally met my brother’s gf (AKA impending nibling’s mother), as well as her parents (who my mother was not amused at me referring to as ‘the rival grandparents’). They seem nice- I did chicken out on spending another full day there though. Getting to know the not-quite-SIL is one thing, but I’m not that fussed about her parents. Nice to see some of the extended family as well, though my aunt looks like she’s aged over a decade in the 2 years since I last saw her.

Nice to get back though. A little bit of my family can go a long way… I had hoped the impending nibling would stop the hints about grandkids aimed at me, but nope. The annual ‘justify your life choices’ ritual is still going.

I’m envying the hummingbird stories, except maybe the one vs mantis- though I do like mantids as well, which we also don’t have here.

It’s snowing. Prediction of 3-5 inches (that’s what she said). I see the cardiologist at 1pm but I may leave now. His office is next door to the hospital where I work so even though I’m on vacation, I can sit at my desk and read.

Home from heaving. I had to do the bag truck by myself. And they cut off the belt, so I had to drag all the bags down the belt to the trailer. Naptime for sure now.

Alex Catt would love that.

It should. It’s one of the recommendations I found last night whilst doing research on this. Another one was wrapping the bottles in red or purple non-LED lights. It’s supposed to keep things warm and provide the right colors to lure the birds.

I used to call our bird feeders the cat entertainment system. They weren’t allowed outside, so they’d sit on the windowsill and make little clicking noises while they watched.

Pixel is at the vet this morning. They are doing some blood tests to see how his organs are doing. I’ve been researching home hospice care for pets, and it’s something that can be done. I feel so much better about that. I hate the thought of taking him to a place that scares him and having him put to sleep there.

On the weather side, it looks like (knock on wood) this will be a wet year. I hope this makes the fire season better across the West.

I appreciate you all. Thank you for the well wishes. {{{hugs}}}

Can’t remember now why I was aggravated but all the hugs help. Seems I always need hugs.

I sold a loveseat and two dressers today for pick up later this week and someone is coming at 630 to see about the matching chair. Once that love seat and chair are gone there will only be my crappy ugly recliner and a tv on a nice looking antique thread box that was my former MIL left in the living room. Told agent she will have to work around my crappy chair and TV as I am still living here. This means I have to empty the dressers by Thursday.

I was gonna make my trek to Key West today to return some Home Depot stuff, my cable boxes and drop off iPad for repair but got waylaid by selling this furniture so shall try again tomorrow. I am a little upset I couldn’t watch the football game last night Dolphins and Saints because it was only on ESPN and I’m not buying it. I can catch my boyfriend David Muir the day after the news on Hulu. So some give and take cutting the cord but done.

Glad everyone made it safely to their destinations.

Hugs for Sunny. Is pixel the little chihuahua? Anyway I hope he crosses the bridge with minimal discomfort or even better that he gets a diagnosis that can be fixed. So hard to lose our fur kids.

Huh. And here I thought I was being smart, and someone else already came up with it!

I’ll gladly slide over on the hug-needing bench to make room for you. welcome aboard!

Lots of hugs here for all!

Thus far, I’ve spent my entire day on the phone, and I’m not done yet. I’m starting to feel like Lily Tomlin’s Ernestine. When a phone rings, I find myself murmuring, “One ringy-dingy…” Most of the calls have been about canceling appointments. Yesterday I postponed my physical checkup set for this morning; today I got a call saying the doctor couldn’t make it in. They forgot to cancel it yesterday. I have an appointment Thursday with one doc. We’ll see if Thursday’s rain/snow forecast messes with that one.

The weird thing is, the conditions are business as usual in Wyoming. Now I’m trying to decide if I can walk to the grocery store. I have an Rx I need that’s ready for pickup there, plus I could use some other items. InstaCart is booked way out, so that’s not an option. Where are mukluks when I need them? Why do I like saying “mukluks” so much?

I also talked with my eldest sister, the Louisiana one. Our sister with morbid obesity is having increased health and mobility problems. Our brother was just there, and he’s very worried. The frustrating thing is that the cardiologist and pulmonologist don’t seem to know why she’s having breathing problems (according to my sister, who tends to sugarcoat stuff she doesn’t want us to know). They’ve run tests but have no answers. She should be able to take 5 steps without panting and her O2 levels dipping. But if she needs surgery–and her knees are shot–she can’t have it due to the breathing issues.

I’m really, really scared we’re going to lose her. This is the steep price we pay for having a close-knit family. Still worth it, but damn, it’s hard at times like this.

OK, enough about me.

sunny, so good to know there’s home hospice for pups. That’ll make it so much easier. One of my dogs had to be taken to the vets, and it was a very sad last mile. My other elderly dog hated going in the car so much that when his time came, the vet came to our house to put him to sleep. Then he didn’t want to charge us. Anyway, I think all pets should be able to pass at home, steeped in the comfort of their familiar surroundings and the people who love them.

FCM, hope the frequency of your visits to the necessary are no longer necessary.

Stay warm, everyone!

Things seemed to have calmed… So far…

It’s been a mostly lazy day. We re-tired my mom’s car, just in time. One was worn to the cords and another had a bubble in the sidewall. Apparently there was an alignment issue for a while. So I need to give her the bad news when I give the car back.

And they may well have been the original tires. It’s a 2014 with just over 50k miles…

Chill evening tonight and here’s hoping I sleep.

Are you inviting Mel to this slumber party?

Parents got their feeder set up with. An incandescent bulb (a re-purposed “trouble” light is set just underneath to keep the sugar solution in a liquid state.

I haven’t actually seen any hummingbirds, but plenty of the others - probably the same as listed by Taters, as I’m just a bit north.

Went out today in the Subaru to do some errands. Unfortunately, the Top Pot store didn’t have enough people to open, so we only got Krispy Kreme donuts.

Probably need to do some more shoveling. We had shoveled on Sunday, after the major part of the storm, but then it snowed some more, so the walk is covered.

There’s the washer, so that’s my signal.
