I must say, Susan doesn’t appear all that embarrassed by the situation. She sure was quick to have Paul come to the door.
There may not be anything to be embarrassed about. This could be a matter of, Paul’s been hanging out with Susan because they’re old friends, with no threat to his relationship with Liz. Gary neither confirmed nor denied any unfaithfulness, and Paul’s shocked expression in the last panel could be read as “What are you talking about?” rather than “Oh no, I’m busted.”
Liz certainly spends enough time with Granthony, and was quick to accept that helicopter ride from Warren, while insisting that they are both friends of hers and nothing more. Yet the moment she hears that Paul is at Susan’s house, she gets ready to boil his rabbit. Perhaps she and Paul are about to break up, not because of infidelity on his part, but because this situation leads her to take a clear-eyed look at her own situation with Anthony. And realize that he’s The One. Barf.
Ok, Liz is totally going to overreact - I don’t think that Paul and Susan have anything going on (hell, maybe she was helping him plan a suprise proposal to Liz), but since Liz is going to overreact, she’ll dump him, get back with Warren when he takes her home, but decide again that she can’t handle his traveling or whatever.
And could Liz please get her own place to live? She’s what, 25 or 26 now? Time to grow up, Lizzie-poo.

No, Paul and Susan are definitely an item – there’s too much foreshadowing through Gary for it to be otherwise. This pisses me off, not because I particularly care about the Paul character, but because Johnston set him up as a decent guy, and now it ends up he’s just another dog. Why are her men either faithless two-timers like Eric and Paul or completely unattractive asexual nerds like Anthony and Michael?
In other news, here’s an article from the Toronto Sun in which Johnston updates her plans for the strip. Now she’s not going to end it, but the characters are going to stop aging and she’s keep the strip fresh by blending in old material and expanding on old storylines. Does that sound fresh to you?
So Grandpa will be an aphasiac dependent stroke victim forever, and April will be an obnoxious teen for all time. We’ll go back in time to flesh out some storylines that have already been done. Am I the only one who thinks this sounds like a really bad idea? i think I’d rather see the strip just end and the characters go off in to the sunset.
I Have to agree. The one thing about the strip that’s always been refreshing is that the characters do age and change, unlike strips like Foxtrot where nothing ever changes and as a result we keep getting the same jokes over and over and over again. (Man, am I glad that strip is cutting back.)
As for Liz and Paul, I still think they’ll end up together.
Is Liz still a virgin?
No. There was no explicit de-virginizing, but it would be safe to assume she was sleeping with Eric when she lived with him. There was even an exchange about how she wanted a bedroom of her own when she moved into his apartment as a roommate, and he said something like “Why? You won’t be using it much.”
Why was he holding her with his hands under her butt? That’s a weird way to hug somebody you haven’t seen in years.
Oh yeah - damn you people for drawing me into this insipid mess! I used to be able to ignore this strip!
My prediction for a long time has been that Elizabeth is going to end up back with Anthony. The question is - just how long will it take?
I figured from the moment Susan was introduced to the strip, something was going to happen with her and Paul, and so it has. I think Warren knew what was going on and wanted to make sure Elizabeth found out, so that’s why he offered her the ride when he did.
Now I expect her to go back to Warren for awhile, but when she finds out that he knew about Paul and Susan and set her up, she’ll split with him.
And … then she’ll finally come around to appreciate Anthony more and wonder why she didn’t go back to him when the opportunity first came up.
The only way I could see this going any differently is if a new male love interest gets introduced, and I just don’t see that happening.

Ok, I’m going to take a chance and posit an alternate theory for Thursday the 11th (to be smacked down on Friday): There’s actually nothing going on. The old childhood friends have been playing Scrabble and watching Trailer Park Boys or CBC news, and Elizabeth barges in all pissy, disappointing Paul, and Liz will learn a lesson about trust, but maybe wrecks the relationship herself because of this-- nosy folk in Mtagiwhihkikiwa may have been whispering about something between the kids (“they sure spend a lot of time together, wink”) and she believed too soon and Paul now knows she’s a suspicious and jealous harpy.
Well, that’s convenient for Anthony. He does have a history of being attracted to suspicious and jealous harpies, after all. 
As I’ve said before, I think the idea is to end new daily strips but keep the Sundays.
If nothing was going on, wouldn’t Paul have looked a little more enthusiastic at the sight of Elizabeth? Like maybe picking her up in a huge bear hug like he did Susan when he saw her?
