I was online checking my checking account balance today and saw that the $75 booth fee that I sent in with my application to have my work juried into an arts and crafts show had been cashed.
The artists’ prospectus clearly stated that if you’re not accepted, your check will be returned with the notification letter.
So…I THINK THAT MEANS I’M IN! Wahoo! I’ve never entered a juried show before!
At the same time, I’m also thinking, “Holy shit! Now I actually have to produce enough pieces to have inventory, figure out my display, figure out merchant services so I can accept credit cards…” Et cetera. Et cetera. Et cetera. The show’s not until July, thank Og.
If it make you feel any less alone in your anxiety, I’ve been gradually building up my show presence and reputation, and somehow ended up scheduling myself for nine shows this year. NINE! Which means I have to make enough inventory to fill my 10x10 tent NINE times! All by myself! ACK! My work is nowhere near as time-consuming per piece as bead stitch work, but still. ACK!
So if you need an email vent, drop me a line. I’ll be happy to have someone to panic with.
Lovely, lovely work. I don’t have the patience to work with seed beads, though. Gimme anything more than 4mm, though, and I’m in heaven.
I have no intention of getting into selling my work, though. I make stuff for myself, and stuff for friends and family, for gifts. Right now, I’m doing a wedding party–earrings, necklace and bracelet for bride, earrings and bracelets for 3 bridesmaids and 2 flower-girls. Pearls, silver and austrian crystal. Fun, fun, shiny stuff to work with!
