[SIZE=“5”]Dopers all, greetings; Thank you to all that read this op, and special thanks to anyone who may choose to reply.
Well the title says it all. However my preferred title would have been; Where can I find a… but the board limits the length of titles.
So the ideal garment would serve both as a layer in a multi layer winter weather ensemble or a single layer as a Spring / Fall jacket. There are plenty of slim fit sweaters and there are plenty of sweaters that are described as “Long Line”. However IMHO the long line style just looks ridiculous and slim fit just doesn’t suit the desired use. In re; hem length, ideally one could put ones hands in ones pants pockets without needing to move the sweater more than a very little.
Please note; where the word sweater is used the word / concept, jacket could be substituted and would be eminently suitable for the envisioned purpose. In addition, I am also looking for a vest with approximately the same characteristics.
FWIW and IMHO, layered dressing makes eminent sense in winter, especially if you are doing physical labor outdoors, when you work up a sweat, you get wet, stop working and it can feel very uncomfortably cold quite quickly.
Also, FWIW, I have spent some time searching the internet for what I want, and am beganing to think that no one wants such an item.
Thanks again and respectfully yours, Zuer-coli, N.B; I think the board has the z as lower case. /SIZE]
Here’s a site which sums up what they feel are the fifteen best cardigan-style sweaters for men. They seem to range from the inexpensive to the costly, and there are some nice ones in there.
SmartAlec, Cardigan, yes, good clarification. Thank you.
Gatopescado, I had forgotten Fred Rodgers, his signature sweater is an exultant example of what I’m looking for. Thank you.
Ethilrist, Banana Republic book marked for future perusal. Thank you.
Lasciel, I shop entirely too much on Amazon, never even thought of LL Bean or Lands End. Good suggestions, thank you.
GuanoLad, What, what, what? Who, where, when and how also! Sigh, whatever you intended with your post, it went right past me. Hey, I’m totally open to jokes at my expense, if that was your idea. I’d just like to understand ‘em. Thank you for making a reply.
teela brown, Thank you for that site reference, looks quite useful.
So, what I am concluding is that I was too specific with my search string.
Again: Thanks to all of you for graciously extending a portion of your time.
