My husband (dear, dear, sweet man that he is) just bought me a ton of books “just because.”
Mmm. Brain food!

My SO has a surprise on order for me. I’m more than a little excited and curious.
Yo, roadkiller, check out this thread.
For some reason I’m feeling really excited about being pregnant today. I was standing at the mail desk sorting out envelopes when I looked down and saw the little bump where my baby is. Got me all misty eyed.
I let my husband and his friend who is staying with us do the grocery shopping last week and they purchased $255 worth of food - for a fortnight! We were really tight on cash but then I got a refund from Medicare for a doctors visit last month. So now we have heaps of yummy food AND money.
My cat decided she wanted to sleep with me last night and I woke up to find her curled up in my arms like a grey, fluffy, purring, teddy bear. She hasn’t done this in over a year until the last week when she’s done it twice.
Today was “50% off on everything in the store” day at my local Value Village. (A thrift shop with higher quality stuff, basically.)
So, I went there yesterday to find some stuff and hide it away for today. I found all this great stuff! An adorable corduroy brown jacket; a see-through white coat thingy; this cute little soft felt brown/grey jacket; a dark maroon blouse that is the perfect color for me; a long-sleeved black shirt in perfectly acceptable condition (for .50c!) and a lovely blue/black checkered zip-up shirt. All for less than $20.
So I ran there right after school and got everything I found, as well as some stuff for my sis and mom. Finding bargains is such an amazing feeling!
I got done feedin one of my boys (6.5 week old twins) I hold him up to my chest to help burp him while I talk to my wife. I notice he’s looking at me out of the corner of my eye, I look down and he’s got this GREAT smug grin.
And NOBODY lets a burp rip like his brother!
**Scarlett gave you a link to an on point thread. Try searching for The Chieftans too.
My daughter made me breakfast this morning. She didn’t pitch a fit, either, when I brushed her hair.
The days are getting longer (southern US)! It’s not totally dark when I have to get up in the mornings!!!
(I hate winter, so any signs like this that winter is waning cheer me no end.)
I’m reading French well enough now that it’s ALMOST like reading English (except that my vocabulary still needs work.) I’m so pleased about this that I want to start WRITING in French to build my active* language skills in the language. And I’ve always hated writing, so this is a wonderful and amazing thing to me. And very satisfying.
*Compared to more passive language skills like reading.
Got together with a bunch of my friends last night for game night. One of them has been going through some serious depression, but after much cajoling, finally got out of the house and joined us. Another friend has been unemployed, but I told him the head of the IT dept at work called me today and told me she was forwarding his resumé to the guy in charge of hiring. Another friend is getting married soon to a really cool girl, and this is the happiest he’s been in ages.
Last night I had so much fun with these guys that I’ve been friends with for the past 15-20 years, I couldn’t stop laughing all night. I drug ass to work this morning, but I’m still chuckling.
My roomie’s girlfriend has been working her butt off to get through school this semester. She’s a physics major, and she recently quit her pizza delivery job and took out massive student loans to be able to concentrate on her schoolwork. She’s taking the max course load, all ridiculously difficult high-level classes, and has been frantic and upset about trying to get into grad school. She got her midterm grades back. Perfect score in each class. Woo!
My fat cat (27 pounds) has been losing weight on his new diet. He’s now down to a practically svelt 22 pounds. (Trust me, 5 pounds on this cat is a TREMENDOUS difference.) He is now officially 10 pounds lighter than my 3 year old niece.
I get to see my boyfriend in 10 days, for Valentine’s Day. And we’re going to the Birthday Dopefest at the Rainforest Cafe, so I get to go to my first out of state Dopefest the next day! I am so excited.
I got my phone bill paid way before they cut it off. Sometimes it’s just the little things that make me happy.
I found my Giga Pet! Remember those things from a few years back? They were so lame, yet I’ve been playing with this thing for the past hour. I’m sad, I know.

Mmmmmm…pointless nostalgia!

And thanks for the music suggestions, everyone! I’m an internet junkie so I’ve already downloaded quite a few songs!
I got away with cutting health class today. Horrible, but good.
My dog (who’s old and very arthritic) came running down stairs to greet me when I got home today.
A good friend of mine has been out of rehab and totally clean for six months tomorrow, and is in better health than he has been in quite a while.
I’m going to see my mom and dad and dog tomorrow!
I’m from California, and I moved to Michigan last June. I haven’t seen my family since then, but I strategically planned a trip to coincide with the nastiest weather I have ever seen, and I am not kidding. Dirty slush everywhere, freezing wind blowing snow in my face, snow melting and then refreezing so everything is icy…yuck.
But tomorrow night I’ll be landing at SFO to spend a week in gray, overcast, drizzly Northern California, where it’ll be 40 degrees (F) warmer. I have one week of going out to dinner with my parents, seeing friends, no snow, no work, goofing off, and, of course, my fuzzy little doggy girl.
I gotta go pack now. Yay!
roadkiller, try altan. i saw them in concert last year the day before st. pat’s. get a good irish english dictionary!
i tried to quit my job… they wouldn’t let me. dang… i want out!!!
anyhoo, i got a free dinner…at a nice restaurant.

jeez, twickster, you just described me at the dentist. i always have the kneady thing and a book. i also keep on foot on the floor at all times so i can run if i have to. i always take dental days off. too twichy after to go to work.
monica, i speak to my cats in russian. it seems to work.
I didn’t break any bones today. I didn’t burn myself, either.
My parents showed up and took me to lunch, which meant that I didn’t attend either of my lectures today - bad, but still good in some way. I got some cool stuff in the mail from a friend from home, and had a good conversation on the phone with her this evening.
My tax return should be in at any moment.
Rather mundane, I know, but it’s stuff that made me smile.
