In all honesty, I’m not going to even bother reading this thread. I really don’t see why it is necessary to create a new one rearguing the topic currently being argued in another one that you participated actively in. It would seem to me that it is less confusing to keep a discussion limited to one thread. True, the same topic can be reintroduced, but I would generally only consider this acceptable if a thread has been sufficiently buried and the person starting was not actively involved in the discussion of the previous thread. That pretty much covers my opinion on the issue. Oh, and now to address your question, Sweet Willy. It is difficult to convert to Judaism, but it is not impossible to remove yourself from it, if you are born to it, that is. You see, there are certain portions of Jewish Law that would require something close to being “banished” in a sense from the religion as punishment for certain acts. I can’t recall off the top of my head what these laws state exactly, or how many there are, I simply remember that some Jewish laws do go along such lines. I’m sorry if this has already been said, but I already stated my opinion about this thread’s very existence, which I believe is ample explanation for my not reading it in full.

I must admit that you are, in part, correct to value my opinion slightly less because I did not read the thread in full. However, my reasoning was that, after skimming the first page, I knew where your argument was going and could respond to it amply because it seemed to be the same one you had been actively participating in with me in a slightly different form. The main reason I told you was to provide explanation for why some arguments presented by others against you might be repeated in my own argument. I apologize for not reading the thread in full but I really don’t see why it needs to exist in the first place. Why can’t we simply continue our discussion in the previous thread?
Still waiting for some proof of this charge. I’ve already asked you several times how you know that Jews are racists. Please provide proof of these “ancient idiots” that said that racism is OK. Then please provide proof that the majority of Jews today follow the opinions of said “ancient idiots.”

I know very well what that thread was about. I also very much recall the specific set of posts comprising a discussion within that thread to which Celestina was responding. In the course of discussing heritage and hyphenation, the question was put (and one poster put it forth as an assertion) that there was no reason why blacks should have had it harder to maintain their cultural traditions than any other group of immigrants. It was to this point that Celestina offered her post. You (deliberately?) misread her post out of context, claiming that she was “interjecting” slavery into the issue and wrongly focusing on “white” sins.
With your lack of reading skills, or terribly poor memory, you have already forgotten that “breaking” was the technical term for the specific acts of deculturization imposed on the slaves upon debarcation on this side of the Atlantic.
I doubt that it would be profitable for anyone to return to that discussion. You enjoy defining your own terms (to the exclusion of any other speaker of the language or participant in a thread) and then harping on your perceptions as if they had a reality outside your head.
As I have mentioned, before: You are not persuasive. You may make yourself feel good that your personal feelings are somehow true, but you contribute nothing to a genuine discussion.

You are quite entitled to your opinion. But if you want to engage in a Great Debate, it would be more effective if you try to explain yourself better. If racism is not hate, and racism is not intolerance, then what the heck is it about racism that you don’t like?
You can, in theory become a Jew. However, as you are not sincerely seeking the answer, aside from using it to prove Judaism is racism, I do not see why it had to be introduced. After all, it is, in many ways, the very same argument.
Can we pleeeeeease just move this thread to the Pit, where it belongs, and where, seeing as it’s merely a thinly veiled rant by someone immune to rational discussion, it should have been started in the first place?

Tom, I recall this debate quite well. Wonder if the record is still over at best boards? Celestina , hijacked the thread and gave a lecture on slave trade that included all of the details except that seven million were murdered in Africa by Africans. That is alot of people. I didn’t think it was vey fair to play the blame game and leave out seven million people. It would have sufficed to say that due to the slave trade, African heritage is difficult to trace.
In terms of my argument in THIS debate, you can not really discount it because I did not read the thread in full. I read the thread enough to know your argument, and mainly included the fact that I did not read it in full to explain why some arguments might have been repeated in my post. However, in terms of arguing against you, that I could do if I read only the first page, mainly because it is the very same argument (nearly) as the one we previously had. So, I feel my statements deserve some sort of genuine reply instead of brushing them off as worthless merely because I confessed to not completely reading the thread. What would you be doing now if I hadn’t?
