I will be a racing bachelor today. VWife will have her ass planted in front of the boob toob watching first the Indy 500, then the Coca Cola 600. There’s also a Grand Prix in some furrin land that had live coverage starting at 0700, but she’s not watching that.
What will I do with my day’s freedom? Nothing exciting. Plant the Garden of Weedin, fire up the smoker and do lotsa stuff, and mebbe mow the yahd. Yeah, I know how to live on the edge.
Argh. I’m sore this morning from digging holes to plant trees and swinging a mattock to remove a couple that had taken root where they weren’t wanted. I still have a buddleia and two caryopteris to plant, but those should be easy-peasy compared to the trees.
Today’s project will be cleaning up the patio, I think.
The Coca-Cola 600 makes me very glad I don’t live in NASCAR country anymore.
It is 55 American degrees out this morning, which, if the calendar is not lying to me, is May 26. My tomato plants are glaring at me balefully through the window.
Today sounds like a good day to stay in and clean the Stately Manor. I may get some crocheting done.

Yeah, it does tangle up the traffic. It’s bad enough on the expected routes like the freeway exits going to the Speedway, but what’s worse is when people think to themselves: The traffic on Bruton Smith will be brutal. Hmmm, this road looks like it goes from 77 to that area…
Next thing I know, it’s bumper to bumper traffic going past my house and I have to decide if I really need dinner, or if a trip to the grocery store can wait until midnight.
It’s a beautiful 63 degrees, sunny and light breeze.
The kitties have been fed, the bonsai have been watered. Later Sah-son and I will hit the corner store for a few things.
I feel ick, I felt even worse ick when I had to bend over to clean up after one of the kitties. All I can say is my belly hurts and all I want to do is sleep.
I saw the damn mouse again last night.
HFH got back last night.
I decided to delay the Smokefest until tomorrow so’s I could concentrate on the Garden of Weedin. My menu will be a turkey boob, corned beef brisket, a pork butt <snerk>, and a whole lotta sausage.
I scored 3 horseradish plants at a local greenhouse. w00t! I haven’t grown any horsey since living in Indiannoplace, and roots I bought last year never sprouted. If these shrivel on me, then it’s time to give up on it altogether.
You only need to go outside here for that stuff. The damned cicadas sound like the flying saucer sound effects from one of those awful 1950s UFO movies with the bug-eyed monsters.
Takin’ a break from cave spiffin’. After deheathenization and N.O.L. I ran some errands whilst in town. So I decided that this would be an afternoon of nonsloth, thus cave defilthyfication. Go Me!
ETA: I inspire the smokin’ of meat. Sniff Makes me so proud! Sniff
Did-din is served; hurry up ifn you want some!
There’s about 4lb of brisket & only 3 of us eating & Imma only gonna have a lil bit (but that’s because I et snausage & salmon already & my tummy is quite sassified). I pulled a snausage off the smoker & put it on a plate on the smoker shelf to cut a piece off for tastin’. It was sooo bad that I decided to et the whole thing…right there…from the smoker shelf…so no one else had to ‘suffer’ eating it. :dubious:
Brisket is quite nummy but it’s spicy & will give you a kick in the kishka! Where I come from this is a good thing.
