I wound up seeing part of it. I got a call from the sports bar, and one of the satellite receivers, the one connected to one of the 10’ projectors, was out of sync with the other receivers. They hadn’t noticed because every set in the place is capable of showing a different HD program, and this was the first time in a long time when every single set was showing the same game. The place was chock full of Packers fans, and I had to head over there. I wound up having to switch DirecTV receivers during a commercial break.
So I wound up seeing a portion of the game and the half-time show.
I did watch this year for several reasons (Seahawks fans like myself hate the Steelers after being jobbed in Super Bowl XL, the Packers QB is a great guy, the Steelers QB is a jerk, I had $20 on the game) but I usually don’t. I just can’t commit to spending four hours in front of the TV if I don’t care for either team.
I usally instead go shopping. Like the other people in the thread I notice there’s virtually no difference in crowds compared to other Sundays. I wonder if people intentionally avoid Super Bowl hype by going out.
Oh, right, that Super Bowl thing. Manchester United vs Day[9] right?
I didn’t see a single second of the game this year. Not completely out of choice: I don’t hate football and all that. But it just happened that I had to take care of my son during most of that time.
My roomie is a big ol football fan and a Steelers fan to boot. So there was no question about it: the game was going to be viewed in our apartment. His fantasy league friends were over to watch the game so I ironed clothes while listening to my ipod for much of the first quarter. I saw maybe four plays out of the whole game. Thank you, internet for giving me entertainment during an otherwise boring time!
I didn’t watch it. However, I cooked for my husband and his friends : lime tequila wings, stuffed pizza turnovers, various dips and chips, smores bars. I retired to my bedroom and the 36" flat screen tv he bought me for Christmas, and happily watched Jonah Hex and Predators, wrapped up in flannel sheets.
“Superbowl.” That’s some hockey thing, right?
There are dozens of flightless fowl out there today thanks to my wing consumption yesterday. Buffalo, hoisin, BBQ…so many wings, and so good! The wife really outdid herself in providing noshables during the movies.
That made me laugh.
