But apparently not worried enough to, you know, not commit a felony.
Ban youtube.
If we ban video sharing sites then only criminals will have video sharing sites.
Then we should ban criminals.
My point is that “safe, responsible” gun ownership is, while most commonplace, is hardly to be expected of our entire population. The video doesn’t even address the criminals who own guns. Just the idiots.
One great policy for preventing this sort of thing is to ban the use of guns, or make them EXTREMELY hard to obtain. Works in a lot of European countries.
What “sort of thing”, exactly?
What other things should we deny to everybody because of idiots?
Let’s ban guns, then they can take away freedom of speech and ban websites they don’t agree with or videos. Then we can all bust our backs and make a set wage no more than the other guy and make sure we all put way more than our fair share in with taxes. O the good ol’ socialist dream. I for one feel sorry for anyone who thinks banning guns would ever happen or even worse would support the idea.
Well, ideally, we should rewrite the relevant amendment of the Constitution with the rider on that particular part that would say… “…except for stupid people. The stupid people just don’t get to have guns at all.”
And then we can spend the rest of forever debating the definition of stupid people and the degree of stupid that should apply before they just take the guns and car keys and sharp objects away.
Im all for some sort of intellectual testing for certain “ rights " such as voting, gun control, and including but not limited to holding public office spots.
We could make a set of rules intended to wipe out those sorts of behavior, yes, but it would probably take several years to work.
if your support for this argument is a YouTube video, then I expect you will be calling for the banning of cars, or at least making it harder to buy one.
For every activity there is a subset of participants who will obtain less than optimal results. Keep looking. You’ll find skateboard fails, cooking fails, vehicle driving fails, construction fails, on and on and on. You won’t even have to look too far for thread topic fails.
Let’s start with some basics such as how to use apostrophes.
Oh wait, maybe those people get banned.
I wasted way too much time watching that crap video. Most of the “idiots” seem to be people being accidentally injured or dropping the guns, rather than shooting themselves, other people, or threatening others. Like the fellow whose rifle barrel split - how was he an “idiot,” exactly? What safety training or regulation other than a complete ban on all guns, period, would have prevented his bolt-action hunting rifle from suffering a barrel failure?
This is too stupid even for the Pit.
It’s sort of a form of abuse - a guy is deliberately giving his GF or wife something which he almost certainly knows or suspects she cannot handle and may be injured by it.
I step in to stop that bullshit when I see it IRL.
Hmm, that might be awkward. How does that work?
Imagined scene:
Red Neck Dumb Fuck: Hey Ellie May, try this!
RNDF’s Big-Titty GF: Uh, okay! That looks big and cool. Hey, watch me blow away our pickup truck on cinder blocks down yonder in the front yard!
RNDF: (giggling) Yuk yuk yuk! (as beer comes out his nose)
Una Persson: (to RNDF) Excuse me, red neck dumb fuck, but that isn’t safe.
(to RNDF’s BTGF) Excuse me, but you don’t really want to do that. You might get hurt, li’l lady.
RNDF’s BTGF: Don’t you tell me what I can and can’ts do! Who the fuck are you anyway?
Then RNDF jumps off of pickup truck hood (the one that runs, not the one she’s about to shoot at), tosses beer can aside as he hitches up his jeans and brushes aside his flowing blond mullet, walks angrily toward Una Perssona with clenched fists as he belches…
So is that how it’s done? ![]()
Throw in an implication the gun nuts are siblings and you’ve got yourself a TV development deal.
The only thing a gun is useful for is killing people and animals. That’s where the analogy to cars (used for transportation) and books (enlightening) breaks down.
What a breathtakingly ignorant assertion.
