IE 7.0 crashing often on site

I am running IE 7.0 and lately it has been crashing a lot (only on this site). It usually happens after opening an external link in a new window, then after closing that window I get an IE error message and the whole thing shuts down.

I also noticed it has been blocking an ActiveX control that wants to run on the site. I just recently allowed it to run and still got an error/crash.

Anyone else having this problem?

I assume you mean Internet Explorer 7.0 beta?

I occasionally run IE 7, beta 3 at home and at work (mostly, though, I use Opera), but I’ve never encountered the problems you’re having. You might make sure you’re up-to-date with the latest beta.

As for ActiveX, I know previous versions of vBulletin used ActiveX for the WYSIWYG Editor, but I’m not sure if that’s true anymore.

I use IE7 Beta 3 on Windows XP Pro and I don’t get any errors. The board does not attempt to run any ActiveX controls.

Can you provide some more information about the error? Have you updated to Beta 3?

I don’t get any errors either.

An install of QuickTime is being blocked though. I just ignore it, I don’t particularly want to see any QuickTime content.

We use no QuickTime content here, so whatever your problem is, it’s not coming from us.

Lord Ashtar had and fixed a QuickTime issue (from the Why is the SDMB trying to run Quicktime each time I open a thread? thread:

Remember, there’s a reason they call it “beta.”

Do you suppose it might have to do with this?
