IE and the reappearing Links folder

In the favorites for IE v5.0, there is an empty folder called “Links.” I deleted it. It came back. No big deal, really, but it bugs my wife to no end.

Thinking I was clever, I renamed the folder. No dice. Back again. WTF? When I delete something 5 times, that means I don’t want it there! Now I could understand if the folder was chock full of corporate sites and MS got paid to make it keep coming back, but it’s just an empty folder!

Or could it be another program that keeps putting that folder back? I’M LOOKING IN YOUR DIRECTION, REALPLAYER! I sure wouldn’t put it past that nefarious software to pull a trick that dirty. After all, it is the same program that asks you if you want it in your system tray on startup, then puts it there no matter what your answer. sigh

Any ideas, guys?

Try making it hidden in the properties…
I seem to recall doing this on my home machine and it working…

Nice workaround. Thanks wooba.
I’d still like to know what on Earth the purpose of this folder is, though. Anyone?
