IE v5 question - page loading

Hiya

Whenever Internet Explorer 5 cannot load a page, it flips to a nice friendly message saying ‘page won’t load’. That’s cool.

But when a banner doesn’t load, it also flips to a whole new page to tell me the little corner of the site won’t load!!

I wish like heck it wouldn’t do that, it is very frustrating. Can anyone point me to how I stop this little irritation?

I am using IE5.0 and do not have that problem. Only the banner will say not found and the rest will show normally.

Guano, I had that same crap happen, too. Only thing that eventually fixed it was going back to IE4.0 (after a reformat - I hope for your sake THAT part isn’t neccessary), and then going straight to 5.5.

Going from 5.0 to 5.5 didn’t fix the problem.

Hmmm. I haven’t heard great things about 5.5, so I’ll wait a while before doing that…

Hmmm…would this work?

Disable script debugging and uncheck ‘Display a notification of evry script error’? (control panel, internet options)

Just wanted to second the opinion that 5.5 was much buggier, unstable, and slower on my machine (Pent. 550 Mhz, 128 mgs ram). I went back to using 5, no problems.
