If Hillary ran against Trump again, you'd stay home? Please explain

Okay, now I’m going to ask YOU to explain that position.

(Using as many prepositions as you care to. )

Yeah. Plus 1. Like.

Well, let’s set a reasonable hypothetical situation in which Queen Romana Didulo designates me as her official standard bearer of We The People in America, giving me the power and obligation to select the next President of the U.S., with the proviso being I must choose between Trump and Hillary.

With that mandate, I would select Hillary.

Otherwise, it’d be great if Hillary was sealed in a bottle and set out on the Japanese current, so we never again had to listen to her self-serving crap.

Bullshit, I voted for Hillary, but bullshit.

Do we really have to rehash this crap about why HRC was a poor candidate (as in not good for actually winning the popularity contest that is the American Election system).

I feel like this has been done to death a dozen times.
Start with the maneuvering and take over the DNC after her embarrassing loss to the young Senator from Illinois and then get into her lack of charisma. Oh and a nice dash of the smear campaign from the right.

So not sexism in a lot of cases, but she was a weak candidate and enabled Trump to get elected with a lot of other factors of course. Including losing some votes to sexism, but by far not all the ones she lost.

I don’t really like Hill-dawg that much at all, but this response is so bad. If you don’t want people to call you out, don’t post on message boards. Jesus.

Okay, okay. I give my sovereign permission for anyone who is tired of this topic to retire from the thread. I take back the threats I made to your pets to force you to read and post. Y’all know I could never hurt a kitten.

W_E, as a mod, I guess you can’t leave. Sorry.

I was responding to Pleonast saying this:

I assume anyone expressing how terrible a candidate Hillary Clinton was is suffering from implicit sexism at best and a raging bigot at worst.

Not your OP.

8 years later, I think it is safe to say that it wasn’t just implicit sexism that cost HRC the election. She was part of the problem.

But the overarching point is that it is IMPERATIVE that the USA NEVER elect another Republican to the White House/Oval Office. ANY Republican (ISTR issuing a blanket proclamation on the subject, in fact). That thread title that the Republican Party is the party of evil is NOT hyperbole, it is literal TRUTH. If it means that we live through four years of an uncharismatic self-aggrandizing Hillary Clinton in the Oval Office, well, that’s what it means.

And the plain fact is that, even a self-aggrandizingly uncharismatic President Hillary Clinton would have served the nation well. Sometimes you need to ignore the job interview, no matter how awful it may have been, and let the verifiable resume make your hiring decision for you

I voted for her, and to this day, wish she’d won.

I don’t know if it’s implied that anyone criticizing her is sexist, but I do not doubt sexism does make certain people scrutinize her more than others.

Not sure why you used my post as a jumping off point. I didn’t say otherwise. I clearly stated I did vote for her also. But whatever.

These clauses, right here, bear most of the responsibility:

No need to rehash. My assumption is based on discussions here and offline. It’s okay if you disagree, but it is my assumption and its works well for me.

But, IMO, of all the times when a woman candidate could get past the inherent sexism of America and get elected, running against trump should have been the time. I mean, how worse of a person can you be running against?? Who would vote for…that?

Can we gripe about the fact that it is a popularity contest for so many voters?

Well, MAGA sees him as some sort of god, so I’m not sure this works. To us, sure… he sucks.

He should have never even got the nomination. There should have been no time that anyone could begin to see him as a god.

He’s obviously unqualified. No political experience. Enough sexual baggage that the evangelicals should have tarred and feathered him. Plus he can’t even read from a teleprompter, let alone string two original complete sentences together. How he even got in the running is a mystery.

I suspect it involves blackmail, possibly using data supplied by the Russians, and I am not kidding.

There’s a pretty big distinction between, “A lot of people didn’t like Clinton because of sexism,” and “anyone who thinks Clinton was a bad candidate is a sexist.”

I didn’t want Clinton to run in 2016. I thought it was a bad move after she was trounced by Obama eight years previously. I voted against her in the Dem primary. I 100% expected her to lose to a Republican. I just expected that Republican to be Jeb Bush, not Donald fucking Trump.

I absolutely voted for her in the general (not that she needed my help in California) because I’m not an idiot, but any dipshit who can’t imagine a reason to dislike her other than, “is a woman” has their head firmly planted up their ass.

If you think that’s what I said, I didn’t.

More likely the fact that he starred as the host of an unaccountably popular game show for a bunch of years.

Fortunately, we’ll probably be spared a Mayim Bialik candidacy. Keep an eye on Ken Jennings, though.

That’s an interesting claim that I’d enthusiastically except if there’s any evidence you have …
