If I'm off today, why am I starting the MMP?

A good friend just brought us some homemade ‘nanner bread. I foresee havin’ a big ol’ hunk for brekkie tomorrow. N.O.L. has been ingested. Goodies are ready to be taken out to the cee-mint pond. Let the festivatin’ begin!

ETA: First on Five!

I slept in, broke my fast with eggs and bacon, caffeinated, and got myself clean and squeaking with a nice bath. Ready to b face the rest of the day! (Which will likely consist of chores intermixed with reading and such)

The front yard got mowed.

Dumb ass neighbors parked taking up two spaces, not that I want one but it annoys the hell out of me anyway. They are rude ass drunks, if they aren’t carrying a bunch of cases of beer when they get out of the truck, they are carrying handfuls of empties.

The other night one of the girls was flirting with one of the guys, and he says you know how it is, dicks before chicks. I guess that is supposed to be the redneck version of bros before hos.

Yeah, I got the grumpies again.

Sari, I am sooo disappointed in you. You missed your opportunity (& you’re probably the one Mumper who would say it.) The bond between brothers should be strong & while a dick is a characteristic of a brother, it is also an organ used for sex. Next time a girl is hitting on him & he says that you should call out, "Sweetie, you’re not getting anywhere with him, he just told you his gender preference. "

I betcha he won’t say that line ever again. Not only do you solve your problem, but you’ll get a good laugh out of it, too!

Went to Sam’s and got some steaks discounted; not used, just on sale at a really great price. Plans are to grill a couple for dinner. May just have to try to go to Kennywood tomorrow. Other than that not much exciting.

::hangs head::
I’m sorry.

I did think the thought, that while I get what it was that he was trying to say, that what he said doesn’t come across the way he thinks it does.

I’ve been trying to be good.
Like I said, if verbal restraint burned calories, I’d be thin as a rail.

We let Cracker Barrel make supper, then ran to Lowe’s for a couple of new toilet seats for the upstairs bathrooms. Last stop was Staples **for FCD **and Michael’s for me (they’re next to each other.) I got electric tea lights for a couple of my clay projects and he got some art paper for one of his painting projects.

Now we’re home in chill mode - I’ve gone so far as to don my robe. Let the chillage begin!

I love company both comin’ and goin’. A good time was had by all at the cee-mint pond followed by a nummy if’n I do say so myself early dindin. Everyone is gone, and the dishwasher is dishwashin’ away. Chill mode ensues. Also considerin’ an early bedtime. The combo of beerverages and business gettin’ foodstuffs ready seem to call for that.

Finishing some packing and then we’ll head back to the train station for our ride back North.

I know Cupcakes felt the earthquake this morning. What about the rest of you? Any other Midwest folk on the MMP?

How are the hurricane-path folks doing?

Happy Saturday!

I’ve been reasonably busy today, doing this and that. I made a Target run to replace the box grater that somehow got lost in the move. I’ve been using the microplane, but tonight’s supper chicken, spinach and artichoke bake) and the eggplant lasagne that I’m taking to the wedding Monday (in a park with a potluck and jam session to follow) require shredded mozerella. The new grater performs well.

Now to kick back in the studio.

I worked, came home. Making Asian BBQ chicken, with green tea rice and sqaush with a spicy honey glaze.

Sunny, it wasn’t much as hurricanes go.

red, con-grate-s on the new box grater.

I did the steaks in the smoker under high heat and they were so tender you could cut then with a spoon. I even opened a nice Stone Cellers cabernet sauvignon for myself to go with it. And since wine doesn’t keep well in our frig <hic> I am finishing the rest of it now. Thank goodness for spell check or this entire post would look like kctuf iulgg zjet. <hic>

I think I will avoid Great Debates tonight.

But I may log into work and look at overtime for the coming week. I am drunk enough for that.

Jeez, mine looks like that sober.

No cee-mint ponds for me, but on the agenda for tomorrow is meeting a friend at the bar in the afternoon for an event, then heading over to a house he’s sitting for someone on vacation. Like a good native Californian, they have a hot tub.

Of all the weird things, I got to thinking about the student teacher from my 9th grade French class. I had *SUCH *a crush on him. He and I corresponded for several years after - I know I was in the Navy when we quit writing. I’d love to know what became of him, but it’s been over 30 years and since his name is Tom Miller, it’s not like I can just google him. But I do wonder what became of him - last I knew, he was teaching French in junior high.

It’s a cloudy day, but no rain in the forecast. I may wait till tomorrow to do laundry - dunno how well things will dry under cloudy skies. I do have to scoop the cat box and decide what to do for breakfast - we’re actually eating in this morning! Can you even imagine!!!

Happy Sunday, even if it’s not sunny here!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 72 Amurrkin out and cloudy with a predicted high of 89 partly cloudy and maybe a late afternoon tstorm. We shall see. Today’s plan includes deheathenization followed by brunch since it’s the firsty Sunday and possibly some cee-mint pond time. A corn casserole is bakin’ away as I post and I have a gallon each of sweet and unsweet tea to take as well. I have been so domesticated this past few days.

OK I need more caffeine and to feed rumbly tummy. Then purtification for deheathenization must commence.

Happy Sunday Y’all!

Up, caffeinated ,and sheveled. Working late tonight, since (hopefully) the clean my carpets at work.

Happy Sunday!

It’s a cool 70 outside, going up to 81.
I’ll have to enjoy the cool while it lasts because the heat is coming back later this week.

Nothing special to do today. As always, I have things to do but no idea what and when I’ll do it.

I want Sah-son to put the Diatomaceous Earth in the shed today. The bag has been sitting in the living room for weeks and I’m sick of looking at it. He complains about the ants getting all over the lawnmower, so put the stuff down and be done with it.

I’m going to wash the dog bed today. I wanted to yesterday, but every time I tried to wash it, the dog was sleeping on it. He gets upset when he can’t find his bed, so I try to sneak wash it when he isn’t looking.

I’ll probably irk a little today, and have some proof reading to do for the kid. I have ground beef and chicken in the fridge, so either burgers or tacos for the kid, and do something with the chicken for me.

**FCD **wanted to go to Dunkin’ Donuts, so we did. It was a real disappointment. First off, I seem to recall they had a much larger selection back in the olden days. Yeah, I know, they didn’t have bagels and croissants and muffins back then, but still, Donuts is in the name, dammit! Secondly, they no longer bake on site, so the donuts are ever-so-slightly stalish. Finally, damn, are the donuts expensive!! A buck apiece!! I got a specialty treat that was a buck anna half! I won’t be going back.
