There is a GOOD side to Black Friday???
Blurf-y kind of day. I did achieve nappage, but the rest of the day was ugh.
We dug out from under the mess the warehouse left us. Now I have a cold beer, a warm puppy, and chicken with quinoa, tomatoes, and chilies cooking on the stove. Life is good.
ONE OF US! ONE OF US! ONE OF US!![]()
My kinda place.
8, and maybe 9 will brush me. And does “tropical” and “depression” really belong together?:dubious:![]()
Yeah, “normal” is a setting on my washer/dryer. ![]()
I’ve spent 15 years in non-Black Friday retail. That’s a good side.
Only when a tropical storm does not materialize does one get the depression.
Irk was Moanday irksome. Callers were fine, “teammates” were their usual PITA selves, to the point that I am contemplating seeking an upgrade in employment, to a more professional environment. The thrift store I used to work in was better than this.
Bonus points when supe came over to answer a question and I smelled both tobacco smoke and marijuana smoke on her.
Even more bonus points for schedule weirdness. Apparently, if the last day of the month falls on a weekday, we get to move to East Coast time for the day (we’re in California), thus irking 5-2 Pacific (normal is 9-6). Problem for the girl depending on public transit, which doesn’t run that early. Did manage to find a co-irker who lives near me who’s willing to scoop me up that morning, and I can get home via transit just fine. Will probably be pounding energy drinks that day, and going to bed very early that afternoon.
Also losing half a day of pay on Friday, with a short shift (8-12).
Good news on one front, though: next Monday, Labor Day, is not only a day off, but a PAID day off. This is quite the novelty in my irking life, getting paid to goof off on a non-sick day.

Spoken like a true retailer…
It was just crap everywhere like they didn’t have time to care. Not sure, but I think the sale had a knock-on effect at the next-door Panda Express. That place had no trays, no ice, and even my fortune cookie had no fortune.
Happy Toosday!
I’m up too early.
It’s still dark outside, 68 degrees now but going up to 87.
I didn’t get much done yesterday, so I’ll need to pick up the pace today.
blurf
I think it is very appropriate that Peaches had advice about peaches, but now I’m feeling peckish
Someday I’ll learn that I really, really shouldn’t buy more than two portions of any fruit other than bananas. If I buy more, the rest ends up in the trash.
Black figs are called brevas both in Navarre and here in Valladolid; everywhere else I’ve lived when they were in season, people just called them “black figs”. Aside from being one of my favorite fruits, it’s nice to being able to call 'em by their name without getting funny looks from people who don’t know how to speak properly.
What an awful night! I don’t think I had 2 consecutive hours of sleep. My nose would get stuffed up, so I’d breathe thru my mouth, then wake up with a gawd-awful dry mouth, get up and have a sip of water, fall asleep, lather, rinse, repeat. I feel like death on a stale bun.
I can haz weekend. PLZ?!?!?!?!?
Yeah, yeah, Happy Tuesday.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffeinatin’. YAWN 'Tis 74 Amurrkin out and clear with a predicted high of 92 partly cloudy and maybe late afternoon rain. There was a nice tboomer while we were in the Mexican place yestiddy so maybe we’ll get one today.
Ima go to the liberry this mornin’ and do some errands whilst out and about. Dindin shall be grilled poke chops, stewed N.O.T., peas, butterbeans, and okra cooked together and rolls. I like those thaw and bake rolls I’ve been buyin’ lately. Maybe enough to keep me outta trouble all day.
Now I need more caffeine and rumbly tummy wants to be fed. Then I suppose I should purtify before goin’ about the public.
Happy Tuesday Y’all!
Up, caffeinated, and sheveled. Closing shift again today.
Maybe, since I got up a bit earlier than usual, I can get half the things done today that were on my to-do list… from yesterday. Oops.
I did none of the things I was supposed to last night. I didn’t get to go order the patio stones, because the zipper on my pants was busted and that wasn’t the impression I wanted to make at the stone place. I forgot to order the supplies for a party we’re having in two weeks. But I did clean the dining room, which was on my list. I also helped Roomie with wedding crafts. So I guess I did some of the stuff I was supposed to.
Tonight’s list is super long, though.
blurf It’s pouring rain here this morning. Outer bands of that depression. I have notified my boss and employee I will wait it out a bit. No sense in driving in it if I don’t have to.
I’m awake, dressed, and recovered from yesterday. Other than that I am remaining neutral.
Lunch. Still functional and I think I’m doing OK with my work. But it’s a struggle… My sweetie is dragging, too - we’re wondering if there might have been something in our Chinese food that got us all wired last night. Except we didn’t have and food in common. Who knows???
<YAWN>
Neither did I; watched Young Frankenstein instead. All three of the major male cast members are now gone. ![]()
Up, went for acupuncture for my back. My sister is coming to visit so we will go to cute Geneva IL, wander around, and have lunch. After that, nada…
