which I assume I am, what do they see when I’ve started a thread and there are no posts yet responding to my OP?
Nothing?
A blank thread?
What happens when someone posts to it? Do they still see a blank thread (i.e., one with no content, just blankness], and then they open it up somehow, and see more blankness, followed by someone saying “More bullshit from you, PRR!” and they say “Oh, THAT asshole again. Get me out of this thread, please, Mister Wizard…”
When you have someone on your ignore list, their posts still show up, but instead of seeing the text of their post, you see a little placeholder saying “So-and-So is on your ignore list. Click here to view the text of the post.”. When the thread was started by this person, you still see the thread title appear in the forum list, but you don’t get mouseover text from the OP, and if you open the thread, you just see the placeholder “click here to view this post” instead of the OP.
This is just too easy to test. Put me on your ignore list, if I’m not already, and see what happens. If you’re happy not seeing my posts, leave me there. If you can’t bear the thought of missing my wit and wisdom, remove me from your list. It won’t affect me one way or the other, and the more people you put on your ignore list, the less bullshit you have to read.
Thanks. I guess it’s obvious that I haven’t used the ignore function much. I wonder if they’d let some narcissist put everyone but himself on the ignore list, including mods.
