If Jared's lookin' so buff ...

… then why is he wearing a shirt at the beach? He may have lost some weight, but I bet he’s still pretty flabby under that t-shirt.

Oh well, so he’s a bit flabby still. He used to be really fat, and they’re trying to sell the idea that eating subway will help maintain a healthy diet.

[hijack]So, Manduck, are you related to Toilet Duck?[/hijack]

I don’t understand the point of this “update” commercial. They say “it has been a year”, but I don’t know if they mean it has been a year since he lost weight or a year since they filmed him first. I don’t recall seeing these ads before April or thereabouts so I don’t know why the need to update them so quickly. Though I applauds his effort, I think he looks better in the first ads when he is wearing a shirt and slacks and he looks a bit pudgier in the lastest series of ads which seems counter productive as an endorsement.

No, merely a fervent admirer

I am just aghast at the notion that this poor bastard has apparently eaten nothing but Subway sandwiches for a whole year. I would have cut my throat somewhere around day 3.

It sure looks like he’s put on 40lbs or so since the last commercial.

Still… I was in a subway the other day, and they had a sign up with the ‘facts’ about Jared’s diet. I was quite surprised to see that a whole list of pretty good Subway subs only have like 340 calories and 6 grams of fat. That’s down in the range of those tiny little diet dinners. If that’s the case, then chowing down on a couple of those a day and nothing else would cause you to drop weight like crazy. Hell, you could eat three of them and still be at about half the normal daily caloric intake. I had one of those subs, and it was very filling. I don’t think you’d be all that hungry on the ‘all Subway’ diet.

Unless he’s had surgery, he’s gotta have a few acres of extra skin hanging around. I know people who have had to have lots of skin removed to avoid having awnings. Not Baywatch material, even if he’s totally down to ideal weight.

Ahh, I remember the glorious days of childhood, when we used to play hide and go seek in great aunt Bernice’s skin flaps.

Who says you can’t have fun with a person who used to weight 750 lbs?

Homer - YECCH!!

Y’know, I could see it if the babe said “Lookin’ comparitively slim, Jared!” or “Lookin’ less obese, Jared!”. But Jared ain’t “buff” and it bugs me that she says he is. I don’t know why, but it bothers me out of all proportion with the actual error.

Anybody else notice that Jared looks like he is wearing bright red lipstick?

Jeez, Green Bean, that was the first thing I noticed about that commercial! What the heck is up with that? It looks like he just polished off a quart of cherry Kool Aid.

And Manduck, I agree – the word “buff” is completely wrong. Kudos to the guy for losing all that weight, but buff he ain’t.
