IF McCain is elected, reactions?

Oh noes! If Obama is elected, the gummint will take away your guns! Just like the shifty Muslim he secretly is! Then he’d probably host a White House dinner for bin Laden! Sure hope he doesn’t win!

To answer the OP, I’d be disappointed, but I’d also realize it couldn’t be nearly as bad for the country as the past 8 years.

For those not in the know, after a McCain victory, **Bricker ** will fucking buy ad time on this board to crow about a McCain victory.

Bullshit. Biden has a “F” rating from the NRA and claims to have authored the Assault Weapons Ban: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nkavwuWE5eQ I fully expect Obama is just as bad except he won’t come right out and say it. He was for the DC gun ban until recent months. At least Biden has the guts to state his position.

Yeah, Americans are adorable, aren’t they? They spend 18 months on their election and when it’s over, they’re like kids on Christmas morning after all the presents have been unwrapped.

Sink into a depression for a month, stock up on food and supplies, then start saving up for guns.

I plan to take great comfort in the fact that, regardless of who is replacing him, we are that much close to no longer having George W. Bush as our president.

I will be happy.

Because if (*) is running the country then it’s gotta be better than when (**) is running the country.

  • Anybody besides George W. Bush

** Anybody in the list
1 - George W. Bush

Edit -Damn. Miller beat me by two minutes

I posted a poll the last time around.

The responses were interesting. And by interesting, I mean that some of them were so over the top that I seriously wondered about the sanity of the posters.

I’m going to rub camel shit in my hair and slash my chest.

I’m not seeing it. I just skimmed the thread, but most of those posts look fairly sound and well-reasoned to me. It’s a valid question and I can see justifications for both answers.

Excellent point. I know Obama has to paint McCain as Bush III, and they do agree on a lot of issues. But McCain isn’t Bush. It will be so nice to not have to see that smirky face of Bush’s on the news all the time and listen to his stupid speeches.

Bullshit yourself. Just because they hold those positions doesn’t mean that they’re going to devote any energy to them for a while. And even if they did, it’s not as if the President and VP can actually do anything about it themselves. Anything they want that affects guns (except maybe an Executive Order) has to pass Congress, and I don’t see the gun-rights balance changing all that much.

I will make sure all my RRSPs (401k’s for you guys) are not in US stock.

Congress is currently held by Democrats. The president and VP can certainly do something about it. The president can veto.

I seem to keep reading, from self-professed Republicans, that the some signficant number of the board membership will have a ‘meltdown’, whatever that is, if McCain is elected. If maybe 5-10 posters out of thousands is significant, then so be it.

I don’t feel McCain particularly represents my interests, but even if he did, there is no way in hell I would consider rewarding with another term the party responsible for the most disastrous presidency since I’ve been alive. If it turns out that their candidate wins, I’ll most likely shake my head for a very long time, but my main issue will be less with McCain or the party he belongs to than with the citizens who elected him. With that said, however, one presumes that he was elected fair and square, so will probably restrict myself to privately, and fervently hopingl, that Sarah Palin does not end up taking over the position.

There, got it, OP? No meltdown in the offing.

I only see one or two that might seem so. A far greater number point out the flaw in the question.

I’m going to do a lot of soul searching about whether I can continue to work for the federal government under another administration that practices torture, etc.

I’ll have figured out whether to vote Liberal, Conservative, or NDP by then.

(Why, yes, mainstream Canadian media, we do have our own election buzz ramping up! Thanks for noticing!)

I’ll check and see if An Gadai needs a roommate.

Nah, but I would be more dissapointed in our nation than I have ever been before. I would thank my lucky stars I live in a blue state and pray that his nutjob of a VP doesn’t ever get a chance to fill his shoes. I don’t think it will be an issue though because I really think that Obama will be the next PotUS.
