Eric Cantor is a whiney little shit. I can’t imagine him advancing politically beyond where he is now.
Rubio was a strong contendor for Romney’s VP, so I could see him possibly running for Governor after his Senate term is up.
I think he means the host of the Daily Show. There is a socialist named Jon Stewart?
Jon Stewart claimed that everyone in the US supported democratic socialism in his recent debate with the stalwart Bill O’Reilly. It should be immediately apparent to all thinking Americans (the 53%), especially after a year of the least experienced president ever, that the ideal political system encompasses neither.
In other words, you’re butt-hurt because Romney lost.
Ouch, San Antonio just seems tiny when you visit it in comparison to DFW, I never think about the fact that S.A. is all one city. But to totally nitpick, he could be the mayor of Houston, and be better positioned :). Even though my ignorance is now fought on that front, Governor seems like it’d be pretty open if Perry is fool enough to run next time, which he’s indicated he will do. Senator would be more of a long shot, but I think that it could be done, especially with Texas’ large hispanic population. The senate is not as good of a stepping stone to the Presidency as the Governor’s mansion is, though. So, I think he’d be smart to try for Governor.
And not to sound like one of those “The President has never been re-elected while X” people, but no one has gone directly form Mayor of anything to POTUS. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but if he can’t get elected governor of TX, he probably doesn’t have the chops to win the Electoral College.
The SOPAguys? Yes, I’m surprised someone mentioned them.
Both of them were promoters of the law but did go against it only after many protested that bone headed law.
Yeah, that’s what people here (SF) have been saying. Not that specific couple of elections, but that he’s on track for Big Politics. I don’t buy it. I like much of his politics, but I trust him as much as I trust Romney. I’d trust him in certain situations, but I wouldn’t trust him with a bag of money.
This is key. He looks like a car salesman.
Re Gavin Newsom:
I don’t understand this. Wouldn’t most Democratic voters be fine with the idea of legalizing gay marriage in this country? Why do you have “legalize” in quotation marks?
Rachel Maddow said something once about how you don’t vote on people’s civil rights. You just recognize them in law and get on with your lives. So this “let the states decide individually” stuff isn’t right.
Cuomo’s a possibility…but he comes with baggage. Sandra Lee would be the First Lady.
Hillary won’t be older than Ronald Reagan was so it’s not unprecedented. Currently she is very popular in the American electorate. The Clinton’s are pretty much their own brand at this point. She needs to step down from State and get some rest and I think it’ll be hard for her to pass it up with all the support she’s going to have.
In 2020/2024, if he wins the race for governor in 2014, Ed Fitzgerald from the bellweather state of Ohio will be wooed for a Democratic nomination.
I thought lots of folks hated her, presumably because of Bill’s infidelity.
Funny how that works . . .
Lots of folks do hate her, but many of them are the same folks who would hate any Democratic nominee anyway.
There are some who probably hate her more than they’d hate the average white male Protestant centrist Democrat, but her name recognition and existing support may be enough to balance that out.
My money’s on John Kerry.
What about Al Franken?
A Jew at the top of the ticket?! Well, it’s not as shocking as a Mormon . . .
Are we assuming that the President for Life Amendment has not yet been passed by 2015?
Gavin Newsom is one of the few names that might cause me to rethink voting for the Democrat for President. I truly admire his position and courage with regard to gay marriage, but he has substance abuse issues and sex scandal issues that make him unsuitable for the job.
