Quebec has not actually seceded from Canada. They do periodically make noise about doing so, but several referenda on the topic have failed (if narrowly). The impact to the economy (on both sides of the divide) would be substantial.
If the hypothetical is that both sides say “Ok, agree to disagree,” shake hands and part ways, you might be right. Any more acrimonious parting will not go well for the military or the country.
Forget Trump, who will likely lose without Texas electoral votes. The Democrats — at least those in power — aren’t for open borders either. rsat3act could try for asylum, but most of those claims are denied. So it’s either stay in Texas, or go into the shadows to do a job Americans won’t do at a wage Americans wouldn’t ever accept.
Wow. I have doctor’s in Texarkana, Ar and Texarkana, Tx. (I think it’s actually the same affiliation/system they work in)
Wonder how that will work over there?
I’d hate to go to a foreign country for healthcare.
Oh, no that’s much too liberal. Money talks. Need a knee surgery? Plop down the newly minted Texas coins, that have no backing. Hope their value holds up til you get to Houston to the nice orthopedic hospital and hope the good surgeons haven’t escaped and the place has some supplies and medical personnel. Knee surgery with out anesthesia would be painful.
Nope not going in there.
No one is masked up.
And surgeons don’t wear gloves. 'Cause freedom is always foremost. Don’t worry patient, if you live thru the pain your immune system will protect you. Don’t be a sheep. You’re a true sovereign Texan now.
Looking at his costume, Captain America would never agree to become Captain Texas… he would be Captain Puerto Rico.

[Captain America] Mmm… Captain Chile, maybe? [/CA]
I took it as Horatius naming Quebec/Canada as one example (along with the other consummated break-ups mentioned) where steps toward a peaceful “divorce” were openly put in motion (referendums, e.g.). There were tentative plans made for a potential peaceful secession (IIRC).
