If you could have three wishes, what would they be?

I think I can find a few loopholes to help you out.

“Your wish is granted”, says the Genie. With a quick nod and a disinterested look, a large, ornately decorated tome appears before you. Your palms dampen with sweat as you realize that everything you could ever want to know is there before you, yours for the taking. With the knowledge this book contains you can have the power you always wanted and the wisdom to use it fairly and justly. You approach the tome and must remind yourself to breath. You reach for the cover. The scent of untold age emanates from the book. You delicately open the heavy cover and find:

Thousands and thousands of pages telling your life story, telling of all your hopes and aspirations, telling of the utopia you’d have the world be, telling all aspects of what you could have become had you made different decisions in life.
Every word is truth, just as it happened or was/is/will be thought.
“Congratulations.” says the genie, “You now have all the time you could ever need to go through the entire book and void any entry that you disagree with or no longer wish.”
It is only then that you realize that you are frozen in time. The world you know goes on while you remain in this timeless pocket dimension.
“But my wish insisted that there be no unexpected consequences, setbacks, or surprises on my part or the part of any related parties!”, you cry in confusion and fear.
“Ah, but your wish specified that there be none in regard to every statement in the book being true, and as you’ll find out over the next few millenia, there are none. Oh, though you will figure this out in time, your ability to peruse this book, as per your wish, is in perfect order, however in order to understand this arcane writing, I found it necessary to remove your minds previous understanding of your native language.”

There would be, but at least you’d have eternity to figure out how to use it

Done, however on top of gaining all of their combined weaknesses (kryptonite and such), you gain all of their personalities and memories. Enjoy your fractured sanity.
-or-
Done, however your willful, complete, knowledgeable and conscious decisions are all based on an intense desire to destroy the entire universe, including yourself.

Done, you now have a tome that tells you these things. It does not open or have any written words, it speaks. An ancient dialect of Cantonese to be exact. Well, today anyway. Tomorrow, who knows which language it will speak.

Done, your proliferation of gold bars and pennies should start flowing from your anus and mouth any second now. Just think, assuming you are still alive, you can afford the medical care now!

I’d wish that the genie and any effects of its power ceased to exist in any shape or form, anywhere, ever. Not even as the beginning of an idea in someones deepest subconscious.

Those things are just too dangerous to have around.

For the rest of our lives, happily frolicking about with my true love it all that I ask.

“IS” all that I ask.

This sounds like hell on earth to me…to live forever healthy & untouched while all the people that you care about aged and die around you, eventually becoming afraid to even make new friends as you know that it will happen all over again…sorry Annie, nothing personal, but if you want to live forever, you’d better start thinking of the long term ;).

Frannie’s wish sounds much better (& I have someone in mind for it too ;)).

Well, duu-uuh.

hey you know…seriously speaking…i don’t really wish for much…lyfs not that bad…it would be nice to finally meet my soulmate…but i guess that would be no fun if i wished for it…well i guess i could do with loads of money and i’d wish for health and happiness i guess.
Oh hey…what was i thinking…on second thoughts make that:
1)My own beautiful tropical island.
2)Loads of beautiful naked babes on the island.
3)unlimited wishes

1)To know then what I know now.

2)A way to time travel, armed with power from wish 1

  1. Unlimited wishes
  1. Happiness and good things to happen to my friends who are having unpleasant things in their lives right now (you know who you are)

  2. My niece and nephew grow up to be happy decent people

  3. To meet someone who appreciates and loves me as much as I do them.

I’m young so forgive me if my wshes sound incredibly stupid, I’m a teenager, I’m supposed to be this way.

  1. Daniel
I would wish for sighs my exboyfriend, well not exactly, I’d wish for his love. I’d wish to know exactly why I lost it and what to do to get it back. I just wish for him to love me the same way that I love him, unconditionally and completely, for him to know exactly what I feel, what it’s like to love and care about someone else more than you care about about yourself. To worry about another person, to randomly wonder about a person and hope that that person is happy, because all you ever really wanted was that person’s happiness.

  2. Peace
If world peace was impossible I’d wish for at least the end of genocide, an enlightment for the world’s leaders. An end to wars that kill off thousands of people for often times no real reason. A peace between my best friend and my ex boyfriend, I love both of them and just wish that we could all forgive and forget, though if my first wish came true, I’m not sure if I’d need this wish to help them out. An end to petty grudges that serve no purpose other than to keep people apart.

  3. Money
I really like Hastur’s idea of a self paying credit card. Not to abuse because there’s not all that much stuff that I want that I would actually buy for myself, but just so that I could get through college, pay for things that need to get paid without worrying my parents.

I recently saw the X-Files episode “Je Souhaite”, & thought about this a bit. One answer would be just to turn the three wishes down. Another would be to ask for wisdom–which I know almost any DM would twist horribly, but hey.

But FEofU’s 2nd wish–time-traveling to save the Library of Alexandria–that really impresses me. Yeah, I could see that.

I’ve actually thought of this before, and have it memorized when Christina Aguilera pops herself out of a bottle:

  1. To have the ability to learn to play any musical instrument just by sitting down with it for 12 hours.
  2. To be able to learn any foreign language simply by shaking another speaker’s hand.
  3. That everytime I went panning for gold, I would find about $350.

The last one, I wouldn’t wish for a million bucks. I wouldn’t know where to spend it. I think a little money every now and then is a good thing, but not too much.
