It’s a classic no-win situation. We want a leader who gets stuff done. But not this way and not that way. And then after we’ve hobbled you, we’ll blame you for not getting stuff done.
Clearly, Bernie the Grumpy Carpetbagging Socialist would have done better.
Granted, he may have done better by virtue of having a penis, and not having been targeted for a decade by the Republican Phony Scandal machine, but neither of those things should have been a negative for Hillary.
The fact that they were is not her fault, it’s our fault, it’s our shame, and we as a country deserve to have been punished by Trump for letting nonsense like that skew our votes.
Why should I share in the blame with idiots who couldn’t evaluate which was the lesser evil? Even though my state had a higher than expected vote for Trump he had no chance of carrying it. Blame the red states who showed their clear contempt for the country in 2016, and subsequently doubled down on it the worse it got.
Unfortunately I do believe in a democracy we all share in the blame, but clearly some people bear more of the shame and responsibility than others.
Not a cite.
yes, at the convention. How many had pledged to Clinton before the primaries started? I cant find any records of such.
Yes that’s funny. I’m sure you didn’t look up those names. No one was ordered. The ones ordering would have been the ones running. Those that would have given us a choice for president. They all just happened to chose not to run at the same time because it was Hilary’s turn. No serious candidate came forward and she was still in danger of losing to an outsider. And then did lose to a maniac.
So making any assumptions might be a bad idea?
I will never vote Republican again. Whether I remain a Democrat remains to be seen.
As to the OP, of course I’d vote HRC again, and I think she would have been an excellent president. Her campaign made mistakes; every campaign does. That said while most of this thread’s rehash is of little interest to me, I am intrigued by your comment above.
What scenarios would keep you from voting D, or possibly more accurately voting against what R has become, in the future? What would you do instead? Stay home? Vote a different party? Or do you mean that you might in the future be a ticket splitter?
YThe ones ordering would have been the ones running. Those that would have given us a choice for president. They all just happened to chose not to run at the same time because it was Hilary’s turn.
No one decides not to run as it is someone else’s “turn”-
that’s a ridiculous idea. They looked at the polls, and decided to save their time and money.
I voted for her in 2016. I’d been hoping she’d win the nomination back in 2008, although I was mostly pleased with the job Obama did while in office. I would definitely vote for her again, especially if she were the Democratic candidate against the Republican Trump. But shit, I’d vote for Cynthia McKinney, Richard Nixon, Joseph Stalin, or David Duke if they were running against Donald Trump and it was between the two. I’d have to pause to think about it if Trump’s sole opponent were Pol Pot, or Idi Amin.
Going the other direction, I’d probably vote for Elizabeth Warren in preference to Hillary Clinton, but I’d prefer Clinton to Bernie Sanders, although I respect him highly.
I’d still vote for her. Of course my voting decision for President pretty such begins and ends with “vote against the Republican”; if it was a choice between voting for the Republican and voting for the literal Satan risen from Hell I’d vote for Satan.
Because it’s the whole Republican party that’s the problem more than any one individual; no Democrat however bad is in the same position to do damage than even the mildest Republican.
I didn’t vote for Hilary in 2016, for technical and jurisdictional reasons.
And yet the collective merkin “you” ignored the most qualified POTUS candidate ever, preferring to install:

You guys have some work to do, and fortunately and to your credit, and our benefit and appreciation, might get done.

For me, personally, the more thought provoking question would be, IIKTWIKN, would I have voted for McCain in 2008?
ETA, yeah, I still would have voted for Clinton in '16.
