Il mio viaggio in Italia, an MMP

{{{snowbunny}}}

The darn pop-ups are STILL after me! I’ve run the scan and gotten rid of some stuff. But they’ve come back again. I guess I’ll just have to see what TVMan says. Hopefully he can fix it. I don’t understand where they came from. I’ve never had this kind of trouble before.

Good morning.

Do you have AdAware and Spybot Search and Destroy on that computer, Pie? They might find what’s ailing you. If not, there’s another utility whose name escapes me that might be helpful if TVMan can’t fix it. Let me know if you need the name.

Hi kai!

Yanno, swampy…I’m kinda slow. It took a couple of “hi gottis” for me to get it.

How’d the long day go, Bobbio?

Guess I should finish getting ready for work. I need to be out of the house 14 minutes from now.

Happy Firday everyone!!!

GT

Popping in to say hi! I’m off to shower and head out to the doctor’s office. I want COFFEE!!! Wah.

MamaTigs is fine, just really busy.

I was going to go look at kitties at the shelter today, but I think I will wait. The last thing I want to do is trip over a kitty. Dangit!

But it’s payday. Yay!

BLURF.

I can’t go wrong with an intensive care unit can I? It’s ALWAYS full of sick people, right?

The unit has 8 beds. Last night, they had 3 patients; had I been there Monday, they would have had 9. I got to see how nurses practiced butt-picking instead of firemen.

I hung out (get your minds out of the gutter, I wasn’t indecently exposed) with the charge nurse, who had care of their toughest patient. A 69 year old woman who came in to the hospital to have toes amputated for diabetic complications, and had a massive stroke while there. On top of that, she developed pneumonia. The talk is they were going to pursue a DNR order for her today with the family.

I got lots of practice suctioning her airway (gross in general, really really gross when her lungs are pus-y and bleeding), and I also admininistered some medications very intimately. Also helped in general do nurse stuff like turn her, change bed linens while she was in the bed, etc.

The rest of the time I BSed with the crew, or studied for the certification exam.

In a very ironic twist, the lady I hauled Sunday with a suspected heart attack was one of the other 3 patients. Instead of a heart attack, she was having a GI bleed, and had lost enough blood that the lack of oxygen caused her chest pain. I didn’t do anything with her last night, but I did visit, and was pleased she remembered me. When we picked her up, she was so out of it she didn’t even know she was at home. She was looking a lot better last night.

Guess who’s getting married this weekend?

(I’ll give you a hint: It rhymes with “Carries Rings By” and “bee-bee-ess-too-m’kay”.
Your resident pathological liar,
beebs

Poor snowbunny. That sounds painful… plus if memory serves, your bed is up in a loft, no? I hope you can still fumble your way up there, or at least have found an equally comfy spot to bunk down on the ground floor.

gt, it’s awfully kind of you to offer me some of your work, but I know that you’re just trying to be selfless, and as a friend I have to politely decline because I can’t just take away the joy and fulfillment you get from doing it yourself.

Hi kai! Do you think you could do me a favour? Seeing as you’re closer (geographically speaking, anyways) to Sarah Palin than the rest of us, do you mind giving her a sound thumping upside the head? Seriously, that woman singlehandedly set back women in politics (and feminism in general) by a good 30 years… ick.

Caffeinating has commenced. I’ve decided I’m staying out of the Prop 8 thread in the Pit today, because some people in there make my blood boil. Grrrr.

No, my bed is NOT in the loft, thank Og or I wouldn’t be able to get up there at all. The loft is too close to the skylight and – more important – the spiders. They can live up there, but I don’t want to sleep right underneath them. shudder I use it for storage. And I’m not going up there for anything anytime soon.

OMG, there’s a baby pygmy hippo on the news! Awwwwwwwwww! He’s adorable!

The Dakota’s are getting a shitload of snow. Yikes!

YAY FOR FIRDAY!!!

Mornin all. Hiya, kai! Nite, nite, nooney!

snowbunny, you be careful on those crutches. Winter ain’t exactly a good time to be balancing on two little rubber knobs and a foot.

beebs, are you channeling Steve Carrell??

That is a lot of snow! Time to get the “no snow” signs out of the attic, I suppose.

I am glad the week is nearly over. No special reason…just cause.

Tupug

All right, fine, it’s my brother getting married.

New wedding pics as best man pt.2 will follow sometime in next week’s MMP.

Cool, beebs! Tell him the Mumpers say “Congratulations!”

Snow. Ick. It’s finally nice down here!

I’m back from the doc - he said my blood pressure is a bit high and adjusted my medication. I’m having my breakfast of leftover Chicken Noodle Stuff. Mmm.

I don’t think I told y’all my dad fell down night before last, and cut his arm up some. He took a shower today and had me rebandage him. It’s not too bad, but I sure do worry about him. He has this condition where he blacks out sometimes. Usually he can feel it coming on, and fights it off. This time caught him offguard. He’s on medication for it, but I don’t think it helps much.

I’m making Chicken Tortilla Soup for din-din tonight. Yum!

Who is up for Monday? I can’t remember if it’s me this Monday or next…
**
Snowbunny**, sorry about the knee. My knee is hurting me too- maybe we’re twins feeling each others pain?

Not much to report here.

Here’s a fine way to wake up… I dumped the old coffee grounds out of the basket and proceeded to rinse them away with the sink sprayer. Why am I getting wet? There’s a hole in the sprayer hose, that’s why.

My inner redneck says “Duct tape!” so I get some duct tape from the garage and wrap it around the hole. Strangely, it’s not waterproof, and now the hose sprays out a dozen fine needles of water. :smack:

So now, once the hardware store opens, I need to get a new hose, then slither under the sink to reach its fittings. At least I have a basin wrench.

Crap, crap crap…!

Good morning my fellow Mumpers!

It’s been a hell of a busy week here. I am generally pleased about the election results. Of course, the bigot props really pissed me off and I’m sorry to see they passed.

It’s rainy and a little blustery here. Typical November weather…

Nothing new going on here in Taterland. I wanted to pop in and say hello, however, so you didn’t think I’d disappeared or something. I tried to catch up, but I’m still not fully caffienated. In fact, I’m not caffienated at all. I need to get a pot of coffee going.

I’m sorry to read about your ouchie knee, Snowbunny. I hope it recovers quickly.

I know there is other stuff to address, but like I said above, I’m not fully awake yet, so let my send my general good wishes, hugs, smooches and gropes to one and all.

Moving my graduation date back is becoming An Ordeal. This is where I’m glad my thesis director is the co-head of the graduate students in the department. He can pull strings for me.

I’m gonna go listen to Olde Tyme radio shows while entering data.

And goddammit, I’m still on regular time. I thought it was 12 and here it is only 11. That means I’m an hour early for one work and I messed up my timesheet for other work.

Know what? I don’t care. I’m gonna stay down here. Catch up on some hours. I’ll worry about Other Work next week.

No wonder I’m stalled on thesis revisions. My brayne is shutting down.

Sorry for the worries about your dad, rebo. Glad he wasn’t really hurt when he fell.

Have fun at the wedding beebs!

Sounds like fun with home repair, gotti. Bleh.

Ivory & snowbunny, my knee’s been bothering me for a couple weeks too. Maybe it’s involvement in the MMP that’s causing it!

It snowed here over night and everything’s all covered with snow. It’s really pretty. And with my 2 minute commute it doesn’t bother me too much.

Is it 5 o’clock yet? I wanna go home!

I’m just grateful that it hasn’t gotten snowy and/or icy yet. And I hope it holds off until I’m off the stupid things.

I blame coffee. If I hadn’t dripped a bit of it on the floor this wouldn’t have happened. As much as I love coffee, I must blame it for this.

(((snowbunny))) Knee pain sucks, I hope you feel better soon. (((hugs))) to anyone else with knee pain.

Yay boofae on getting some firm vacation planning! I wanna go on vacation, the recent one wore me out.

Hi gt!

Once again VBob you take it to the next level. Having seen the (gag) stuff which gets sucked out of my sister-in-law’s lungs I just can’t see myself doing it. Speaking of her, it’s been seven years now since she has been in a PVS. The hospital wants to do a CAT scan, and who knows where it will go after that? The story from my mother-in-law is that the hospital wants to not treat the next time she gets a virus/cold/infection. This is a better way to finally let her die than removing the feeding tube? I just don’t know.

Ha ha, muppet, if I could, I would smack that woman for making Alaskans in general look stoopit. Honestly, the day I woke up and found that she had been made the VP running mate I smiled and said to everyone I know that in picking her, Mcain had just won the election for Obama/Biden. The bad news is that she is back here in Alaska, and when ol’ Teddy-boy gets kicked out of the Senate, she is doing her best to be the one to hand pick his replacement. I don’t know what is up with her accent, we don’t speak like that here, and we are generally brighter than a burned out Christmas bulb.

Hi pugs! Great OP, btw, with fabulous photos.

And you, sweets, don’t startle me like that, dontcha know you are one of my major doper crushes?

I’m sorry about your dad, rebo, I wish him a quick recovery, and some peace of mind for you.

As it is barely past 8:00 am, I am now gonna get back into my cozy bed, drink a cup of cocoa and maybe nap until the sun comes up.

gotti, I don’t see what all the fuss is about… I mean, isn’t it good that you can take your morning shower AND clean out your coffee maker at the same time? I call that progress.

My knees are still in good shape at the moment, so hopefully I have escaped the MMP curse. knocks on wood However, my tummy is very very sore as I just pigged out on Indian buffet with a colleague at lunchtime… Can’t move. Too. Much. Curry.

Sorry you’re still stuck with Palin, kai. Maybe your state can convince her to go on an extended trip to the country of Africa so that she can improve her foreign policy skills in time for the 2012 race. Snerk. (What is it with beauty queens and their inability to grasp geography, anyways?)

Oh, and {{Spaz}}.

Hmm, I’ve managed to pay some bills and take a shower.

I’m getting ready to swap sheets on our bed. It’s time for the flannel sheets, I think.

rebo, I’m sorry to hear about your Dad. I hope he improves soon.

Spaz, hugs to you. I hope you can get things squared away.

There’s been lots flooding around here because of the Pineapple Express. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had much worse, but the roads have been truly a mess today. Additionally, they currently have dive teams in the Green River because somehow a woman managed to drive into it with her two kids. She got out, but her kids didn’t. I think we all know how this ends. :frowning:

Another guy had to be rescued because he drove into a flood street. He was stranded on the roof of his car.:dubious:

Well, off to do something constructive, I guess.
