Il mio viaggio in Italia, an MMP

Wow, I killed the MMP…:frowning:

Update to the sad news story I talked about earlier. It turns out the driver was 16 years old and was the auntie of the 14 yr old and 2 yr old. She tried getting them out of the car, but the river current kept pushing her back.

I cannot imagine what that poor girl is going through right now; along with the rest of her family. They think they may have located the car, but they can’t be sure because the river is moving far too swiftly and is to murky for the divers to get there.

Still nothing too exciting going on here. It’s been very nice and quiet and enjoying every moment of it.

It’s almost 5:00!! Yay!

And our new cleaning lady’s coming tomorrow so we don’t have to do the chores tonight. Big yay!

Have a good weekend MMP!

I’ve been reading this thread, with interruptions, for about 3 hours… Interruptions included cooking then eating supper, and I just finished cleaning the blue room carpet - sorta. I was just squirting in hot water, and sucking out lots of suds. The kids used spot cleaner when their cat messed on the rug, but they neglected to rinse. FIVE times I’ve been over the stained areas, and I’m still pulling out soap.

But I’ve quit for tonight. Plenty to do tomorrow.

Oh, the melatonin last night was great. I’ve got another standing by for tonight. Wish I had some ice cream…

Why do I have the urge to rearrange my furniture now when I can’t do it?

I should try melatonin sometime, but for tonight I have (entirely justifiable) Vicodin that will put me out and also settle my achy knee. I don’t think I’ll need it past today, but it’s nice stuff when it’s necessary. And yes, I have a doc appointment Monday. I want to find out WTF is going on.

And I just found a cross-stitch pattern of a Clumber Spaniel! It’s hard to find anything Clumber related. Yay! It’ll be for my aunt. Clumbers are my third-favorite dogs, I think, after labs and goldens. Especially hers. Lovely, hilarious dogs.

Snow this weekend. Lovely. Getting to and from my car should be interesting; it’s a bit of a hike to and from the parking lot. At least the sidewalks are heated, but the parking lot itself isn’t. I love snow, but I’d have liked it to wait at least a day or two until I can ditch the damn crutches. (Please, Og, let things settle enough I can ditch them after I see the doc.)

Hmm. I’m babbling a bit. Must be the drugs.

:mad::mad: LAPTOP CAME BACK. STILL NOT FIXED.:mad::mad:

More later.

Well, TGIF! It was an uneventful day at work, mostly. I’ll spare the details since they weren’t very interesting. LOL

I’m trying to find a group of crocheters in my neighborhood, hoping that I might be able to meet others, some of whom might even be willing to teach me how to do new stitches correctly. I’m pretty much self-taught and from the internet, so I’m sure there’s a lot I can learn. No luck just yet, but I’m still searching. I’m also looking to get a cell phone for myself - one of those pay-as-you-go ones, I think.

Where did you find it and do they have any of Basset Hounds? I just gave up on my linen project (3 years and I’ve just started the outlining) and it’s time to find a smaller project that I can do on Aida cloth.

WOWCrack Roommate and his bratchildren are being loud in his room. One of these days I’m gonna get an air horn and honk it randomly in the middle of the night.

Complicated Roommate is coming by tomorrow with a Wii for me! Huzzah!

It’s a site called White Willow Stitching, and they have three Basset Hound patterns.

Now I have to find if there’s anywhere that isn’t crazy expensive to get fabric and stuff around here. I doubt there is, but we’ll see. Too bad I’m 80 miles from Michael’s.

I’m still surprised they have anything Clumber. They’re really rare dogs. Awesome, but rare. Clumber stuff is even more rare.

Arrrrgh. I just nearly threw up. Stupid drugs. My knee feels better, but the rest of me is spacey and weird. No more of that stuff unless I’m heading straight to bed or am in unbearable pain. People take it for fun? I must not be wired that way at all. Not that I really mind that.

Dear BioTigs,

I think you should know that your daughter appears unable to just say “No” to drugs. (Although in the meantime, she’s saying “maybe,” I think.)

Your concerned friend,

GT

In other news: Soapy, you’re up for Monday. We don’t have anyone past next Monday, though, so anyone who’s been thinking about volunteering can chime in any time now…

How sad about those kids, Taters. :(:(:frowning:

Surely they’ll be able to fix it eventually, Pie. Or replace it???

That sounds icky, Bobbio. And sad for the family, of course. But nice that the other patient remembered you.

Have fun at the wedding beebs!

Muppet, au contraire, it is you who are being selfless, continuing to languish in a work-free setting. You really shouldn’t make that sacrifice, when there’s plenty of work to go around… Really.

Which brings me to today, where I spent the day trying to be 3 or so people. At one point, I picked up the phone to call person A, while thinking that I also needed to talk to person B. So, of course, I called person B and launched into the conversation that would have made sense to person A. At least we’re all friends and could laugh really hard about it. Which helped. Sadly, I might have to go into work on Sunday, which will make 3 Sundays in a row. And I have to go in for a little while the next Sunday because that’s an implementation weekend and there will be verification to do. Yay.

Well…gotta go hang out on the couch, I think. There was more, but it’ll have to wait till tomorrow.

In the meantime, hugs for all.

GT

Yes they do! :eek::smiley:
And I can’t decide which one I want. :frowning:

I felt like mocking Grammar Nazis tonight. I wish they didn’t edit these letters before printing them; I’d love to see how many times Gaudere’s Law was invoked.

SnowBunny, I have some percoset but I never took any because when I took it before it gave me the dry heaves. Pretty awful; I’d have to be in terrible pain to take it. Hope your knee gets better quickly!

GT, so sorry to hear that you’ve been putting in so many long hours. It’s little consolation when you’re working 80 hour weeks, I know, but at some point down the line you’ll be able to relax and use those hours in a constructive (to you!) way. Hopefully.

And many {{{{{{{HUGS}}}}}}} just because for CutiePie.

Wonder where Dottie is? Hope all is well, I know she’s getting ready for her vacation. And speaking of vacations, yay for going to see Cirque de Soliel in Vegas, BooFae! Their shows are fantastic!

Okay, I’m up early, but it’s Saturday and I can go back to sleep later if I want to. Caffeination in progress now.

Good morning.

My mom has shingles and it’s horrible.

No pain meds seem to be helping :(. She’s really distraught. It’s been going on for a month and may continue for another two!

Not good.

Sigh.

My son has the SSATs today, so send good thoughts written with #2 pencils.

I mostly slept in till 7 - YAY! Scruffy did start barking about 5:45 because she had to go out, but she did her thing quickly, and I was back in bed within 5 minutes, and I actually fell back to sleep! I feel rested. What a concept!

SIL is going off gaming today. I understand last night daughter was giving him grief about it because of the amount of work to be done. Dunno if she changed his mind or not, but fercryinoutloud, where’s that man’s priorities? Oh, wait, obviously…

I forgot to mention, I got some Mom-spam the other day. She sent an email to my sibs and me outlining her final wishes. Not that she’s on death’s door or anything, but she wanted us to know exactly how she wants things handled when she dies. And, as she said in her message, she doesn’t want to talk about it. Which is fine. I have no problem with what she said. I knew my bro is executor. I didn’t know she doesn’t want a viewing and funeral - just a memorial with her ashes. She did say that she doesn’t want us fighting over her stuff - everything is to be divided evenly. No issue there - I do trust my bro. What she said really wasn’t funny, but the way she did it kinda cracked me up…

Anyway, Mom will be 75 in January, and short of being run over by a bus, I can see her making it to 90+

I’ve got to have one more go at the guest room carpet to try to extract as much soap as possible. Bed is being delivered tomorrow, so I’ll do what I can this morning, then leave the fan on all night to dry it out. I need to find 2 small nightstands for that room. A small dresser would be nice, too.

Well, I suppose it’s time to dress and start working. Happy Saturday, mumpers!

Yup, no more of that stuff unless I’m hurting really badly and am going straight to bed (lying down helped some of the ickiness go away). Bleah.

Bleah. Coffee will be ready soon. I have to work at noon.

FCM, it may be weird, but better everybody know what she wants now. And I am forever grateful my family doesn’t fight over who gets what. I’ve heard a lot of stories. :frowning:

Once I’m caffienated I have to take a shower or I won’t be fit for human company. It will be interesting, but I don’t have a tub so I can’t do a sit-down bath instead, so I’ll just have to be Very Very Careful.

Morning.

{{SoapyMom}} Shingles is NOT fun. :frowning: My MIL was in absolute agony all summer thanks to a bad case of the shingles, and apparently she had to try out a few different drugs before she found one that made the pain manageable. Hope SoapyMom’s doc can figure out the right pain med for her too.

tarra, I was just thinking the other day that I needed to find a crocheting group in my 'hood too, since my regular Stitch and Bitch group seems to have died off… Too bad we’re not in the same area.

I am baking up a batch of Haze’s Lesbian Chocolate Gingerbread. I followed the recipe pretty much exactly, though I had to substitute a kitteh for a lesbian lover (as I didn’t have one on hand) and since I don’t know any Joni Mitchell I ended up humming some Death Cab for Cutie instead.

Up, didn’t so much sleep in as veg in. Woke up around 6 and dozed on and off until 9.

Tarra, I haven’t worked 80 hours this week (I’m not doggio, which, by the way: where’s doggio???), I’ve just way exceeded the 80 hours in our two-week pay period. Which means I’m not real motivated to do the stuff I need to do at home. Of which there’s lots.

Hmmmm, hopefully SIL saw reason and will be staying home, FCM.

Well…gotta go get something done. I’m contemplating whether I’ll be able to finish off the front steps today. I also need to do laundry and make sure all my chairs are nice and stable. Plusalso I want to get something done in the garden.

We’ll see what I actually get to. First stop today will be Lowe’s and/or Home Depot. Wheeeeee!!!

GT

Good morning everyone. I’m up, caffienating, and trying to become fully alert.

I’m sorry about your computer woes, Pie.

I hope SiL changed his mind, FCM.

There’s more, I know, but I’m just not fully awake yet. In fact, the screen keeps blurring, so it’s a wonder that any of these words will be spelled correctly. No, it’s not the screen; it’s my eyes.

I’ll try to come back when I’m awake.

Hey tarra! I’m around and reading along when I have time, but HRH has almost completely dispensed with daytime naps now (she was down to just one after lunch) thanks to her molars making their presence felt, and the Dope is blocked at work, so I just can’t find much time any more! :frowning:

We are slowly getting organised for the holiday (5 weeks to go now  ) and everything is now paid, including the travel insurance. I collected the hotel and airport-hotel transfer vouchers last week, we have e-tickets for the flights and I need to remember to scan the travel insurance policy and email a copy to my Dad. I am creating lots of task lists and reminders and packing lists, and that’s just for HRH’s stuff. Never having travelled with a toddler before, I am paranoid I am going to forget something, so I am gradually assembling a bag of things we must take, from first aid type things (Baby Paracetamol/Tylenol, band-aids/plasters, Baby Benadryl, etc) to small new toys and games. I’m not worried about clothes, since I plan on doing lots of shopping at home, but I am worried about the weight of the bags!

Okay, gotta run - dinner to plan! Mwah!!!

Am I on this week? Who has the schedule?

Help!
