Il mio viaggio in Italia, an MMP

It’s all you.

Yes! Time to implement my evil plan of mind control …um, er, ahem, I mean share some rambling thoughts on mundane topics, that’s right… not the other thing…

plumber has come and gone - $250 later my faucet no longer leaks (he had to replace gaskets and washers and he changed the angle of the handles slightly). Maybe now my water bill will go down a little…
ah the joys of homeownership
Peapod has come and gone as well, so now I have to put away the non perishables

pffffft - it is to laugh. He’s gone. We’re working. He almost left without saying goodbye to his wife. She was not pleased. Nor is FCD. I don’t think the boy gets it…

**snowbunny **- honestly, the only item I think more than one of us wants from Mom’s stuff is a particular painting. So it’s going to have to go via lottery. I’m not at all interested in her diamonds or her fancy-pants crystal or glassware. There are maybe a couple other paintings that she and Dad got in Europe that I wouldn’t mind having, but beyond that, I can’t think of anything. Anyway, I don’t think it’s going to be a pissing contest. I am going to suggest that she select specific items for the grandkids and have them marked accordingly.

I are a jeenyuss!! I figured out how to deal with the foaming carpeting - fabric softener! I mixed a little softener with water and put it in the detergent dispenser of the carpet cleaner. Then I ran it over the areas that were still foaming after 6 rinses - and it did the trick! The carpet is now drying. I still intend to get the shake-on carpet deodorizer to put a fresher scent in that room. I’ll shake it down tonight and let it sit a few days, then vacuum it up.

New bed is being delivered tomorrow - yay! I’d like to get a couple of small end tables and maybe a little dresser before the inlaws get here - if I can get to Ikea… or maybe the local thrifts…

Daughter and I put down most of the rest of the base mold and I installed the blank-off panel. **FCD **is working on the countertop. I’m taking a break because I’ve been going full bore for several hours.

I should probably thaw something for supper. I thought I’d do some poke chops, but daughter asked for steak. That’ll work.

Spaz, I like the first one–the one with the leaves looks too flat and the third one has too much endless black in it. Good snark, BTW.

I can’t believe how late I slept in this morning–but it felt goooooood…

I made huge amounts of roasted garlic paste yesterday and after I got done spreading it on sourdough and broiling it with asiago cheese on top I took a couple of thick pork sirloin chops, seared them in a bit of bacon grease, then thickly spread a coat of roasted garlic paste all over the tops of them, sprinkled them with paprika and kosher salt, then distributed a bunch of thin sliced onions and mushrooms around them in the frying pan and baked it at 350 until the chops were almost tender, then took the bowl the paste had been in and dumped a bit of cheap red wine in it, stirring to get the rest of the paste incorporated in it, and introduced that into the onions and mushrooms, turned the oven off and let it all rest together for ten-fifteen minutes. The wine reduced into a sticky sauce, the pork was tender and flavorful and I steamed up a huge load of broccoli to go with, sprinkled with a bit of sharp white cheddar. It was delish!

Now I have another big bag of frozen roasted garlic paste cubes, a pint container of paste I didn’t have ice cube trays for and the worst morning breath imaginable, but I don’t care…

Mmmmmmm…garlic! Send me some of that paste, wouldja?

You know, FCM, I may be small but you can ask my brother, I can be mean, and I know where you guys live. If SIL keeps this crap up I may have to come kick his butt myself.

**snowbunny **- daughter seems capable of dealing with him. We’ll leave it to her for now. But I’ll keep you in mind.

Just stoppin’ in to say howdy y’all! Ima go eat lasagna in a bit. I got invitated to dindin.

I said invitated. Spaz’s grammar nazi friend would plotz!

I know it’s really up to her, but I’m still available if multiple kickers are necessary. Of course you get to go ahead of me.

I like the leaf one because of the way the ears fold, but I agree about the tri-color.

My friends know stupider is a word.

**rosie, **I can relate to the home ownership woes today.

Hubby got up to use the powder room that is located downstairs. As he walked into the powder room, he exclaimed, “What the fuck?!” I, of course, go rushing in there to see what the problem is. This is when I witnessed water coming out of of the exhaust fan. We immediately rushed upstairs to find our washer had gone on the fritz. Somehow, the seal on the door had come out and there was water everywhere.

We shut the washer off immediately. After that we attempted to fix the seal. Only, we didn’t fix it right the first time, so we had more leakage. We went rushing back upstairs, and this time we got the seal fixed correctly. That load of clothes ended up being washed three times. Anyway, after that load was completed, I now had to remove the sodden clothes from the laundry room, pull out the washer, sop up all the water that was under and behind the washer, etc. Anyway, we think (hope, fingers crossed), the washer is fixed. I don’t know why or how that seal came out and twisted up like that.

It’s a Whirlpool Duet frontloader, so if any of you have one, be on the lookout for this issue. We’ve had it about three or four years now.

Anyway, that was the extent of my exciting day.

This evening, we’re going to our friend’s house for yet another 99 party. I’m a little burned out on it, frankly. However, our new friends just lurve, lurve, lurve this game and want to do this once a month. I’m good going once every two or three months.

Guess I should get another load of clothes going. Here’s hoping my washer doesn’t decide to explode water all over the place.

While I’m deciding on which Basset pattern I want, I went out today and got the threads I need to make this pattern. Pre-Raphaelite cross-stitch. yips merrily

Ooooh…pretty. Must check out other patterns at that site.

Sorry about your mom, Soapy. (Meant to say that earlier.) I know they’ve found a number of medications that are pretty effective for shingles; hopefully they’ll find one that will help her.

Hope Dad heals up quickly, Rebo. (Also from the meant to say that earlier category.)

Leaking water is one of my phobias, Taters. Sorry about the washer and glad it seems to be fixed.

Perhaps you could tell SIL that your friends around the world think he needs to grow up and get his priorities straight, FCM?

How’d the SSAT’s go, Soapy?

Added the pork sirloin chops to the blog (also added Muppet’s roast from the other day). Yum.

For kai: yesterday’s editorial cartoon in our local paper depicted a frightened moose with bullets flying by. I think the tagline was “She’s back.” Made me giggle.

Faraway Best Friend called a couple hours ago to wish me a happy birthday. She’s two days early. She has my birthday listed on her calendar correctly, but has seldom called me on the correct day because she’s convinced she has it on a wrong day. It was fun to hear from her, of course. Goddaughter has a new boyfriend and is having trouble in school. Friend is working on a textbook (which is fun, although she doesn’t really have time to write, but she told the publisher she’d write it…).

Dinner was Hot Crash Potatoes with bacon, chives and then sour cream and am sipping a beerverage. One Yukon Gold and two little red potatoes. Yum. What did we do before Hot Crash Potatoes?

Just finished watching Waitress, which was finally affordable at Target. Excellent chick flick.

Guess I should go consider a few accomplishments for today. (Although I ran a bunch of errands and bought groceries and such, so I have actually done more than loll on the couch.)

GT

Taters and rosie, sorry to hear about the homeowner woes. Been there, done that. Glad everything got fixed in a timely fashion, though.

I’ve spent most of the evening crocheting like a madwoman… a friend from uni is having a baby shower at the end of the month, and I want to give her a nice handmade blankie, booties and cap, plus maybe a few flannel burp cloths if I have the time.

Once that’s done, I’ll have to get started on my holiday gifts, as I’ve decided that all my gifts this year will be at least partially handmade. On the bright side, if work ends up sending me to the satellite office as they’re always threatening to do, I can’t complain because the commute would give me two solid hours of crocheting time in each direction.

Also, I would like to report that the chocolate gingerbread was a bona fide hit. We gobbled it up for brekkie while it was still warm from the oven, I snacked on some this afternoon, and then we had some more for dessert. At the rate we’re eating it, there won’t be any to bring to work on Monday… my coworkers won’t be impressed.

The weatherman promised us torrential rain over the weekend but we’ve not had any yet, although the sky is very grey so it might be putting in an appearance sometime soon. Just as well I don’t have anywhere to go today as it may turn out to be a perfect day for sitting on the sofa with a good book.

Yesterday was fun - I made an apple betty in the morning from a Fat Club recipe. It’s basically apples and sultanas covered with a topping of vanilla yogurt and beaten eggs, topped with cinnamon (it said “a pinch” but that was never going to be enough) and baked until it’s set. We tried it last night with some custard and even 'im indoors pronounced it Teh Yum. Just as well because there’s quite a lot left!

In the afternoon I went shopping with a friend and bought a fantastic pair of patent-looking knee-length blue boots from the Nine West range. They did have them in ankle boots which we both liked but Gill couldn’t get the knee-high ones zipped up and I could, so that was the decision made for us. Even better was the 15% discount that came with them so today I may well be wearing them all day. Do you think they’ll look good with my jammies?

I’m waiting for 'im indoors to get up now, I need to change the bedding and get it in the washer, then I’ve got vacuuming and ironing to do. I’ve already tidied the kitchen and washed the sink/drainer so I’m already feeling quite virtuous.

It’s too early to be awake.

Mornin, Pie. I’ve been up about 90 minutes - stoopit cough - so I’ve been clearing out some ancient emails. Why have I saved 8-year-old forwarded jokes???

I’s still tahred, but when I get the coughing fits, I know I’m disturbing my sweetie, so I’m letting him sleep while I surf. Maybe I’ll crash at bedtime tonight and make it thru till morning undisturbed… maybe?

We’re going down to the marina today to see where our boat ended up. I guess as soon as the apartment stuff is done, we’ll start some boat work. Limited, tho, since it’ll be getting really cold and unpleasant for such chores.

I’d like to run the mulcher/vac over the yard, but the leaves are pretty much sodden. I need to wait for them to dry out - maybe tomorrow? Is it too late to get bulbs in the ground? I bought 2 bags of assorted stuff and it’s still sitting in the living room. I used to love to garden - these days, I’m lucky to get the grass cut in a timely fashion.

Ah well… Happy Sunday!

Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. Last night I wrote a post but apparantly the board took a dive when I tried to post so I went to bed instead. I think I have pretty much recreated it below.

gt I’ll take the 17th just because. Don’t know what I’ll post. Maybe I’ll borrow JoeDawg and let him sit on the keyboard for a few minutes, if nuttin’ else.

I haven’t been keepin’ up the past couple of days so, yays, boos, hugs, congrats, awwws, trouts and such as needed for everybody.

I had some dang good lasagna last night! The woman knows how to make lasagna let me tells ya! The sallit, garlic bread and accompanyin’ wine were also yum, as was the chawklit cake for dessert. Iwas a stuffed bear!

After churchification, I’m meetin’ friends at Steak ‘n Shake for lunch. YUM! I haven’t been to S ‘n S in a while so I’m lookin’ forward to it. Ol’ y’all know who is due back mid afternoonish. I’m considerin’ goin’ to his place and makin’ a quick supper and stayin’ the night. Of course I have mentioned none of that to him. I’m thinkin’ salmon patties, peas and smashed N.O.T. cause that’s easy and also because I happen to know he has canned salmon in his pantry and frozen English peas in his freezer. I can bring N.O.T. from home. That’d be good.

Of course the main reason to be there is cause, well, I ain’t been appreciated in a week.

Mornin’! Flock after flock of geese are honking and flying by.

The geese know something… hmmm, I wonder what coming this way!

oooh, I’m a-flutter about writing my third OP. Breathe, breathe.

How y’all doing?
