Il mio viaggio in Italia, an MMP

I voted early, the woman in front of me in line was trying to vote often. She wanted a regular ballot, even though she’d already received her mail in ballot. She finally handed over the mail in ballot. Whatta maroon!

I have my sticker and I’m wearing it today. Our RMP left us a nice, general get out and vote voicemail yesterday. He did a very good job of highlighting the important issues without sounding political.

The muscle relaxant worked really well last night; I had the best night’s sleep I’ve had in years. I’d forgotten what it felt like to not be in pain.

The only problem with living in an all vote by mail state is no stickers so I content myself with this.

Mrph, no caffeine yet and I need to go out and get supplies for Son’s birthday dinner and then cook it but I had anxiety last night and couldn’t get to sleep so I’m running on something like maybe five hours. Gnrf.

Where coffee? Where?

Sig line!

I was telling my kids this morning that we are lucky to live among the countries that peacefully overthrows their government every few years. They liked that idea!

Still sleepy, even though I’ve chugged two coffees and gone for a walk to clear my head.

Good on you 'Muricans for getting your vote on. Seems like there was quite a grassroots pro-Obama movement going on in NYC… everywhere we turned, there were people selling t-shirts, stores with Obama-inspired displays, and all sorts of volunteers on the streets encouraging people to get out there and vote. It’s quite inspiring to see the American people get so gosh-darned excited about an election for the first time that I can remember… especially when the Canadian election was the exact opposite (we had out lowest turnout in years, not to mention a rather ho-hum result as far as the outcome).

That said, I’ll be really glad when all this election nonsense is over and we can go back to our regular topics of conversation.

Just got back from voting! Yay to participating in one of the most historic elections in American history (well, so far that is :)).

My daughter and I got there around 10 am, thinking to miss the big crowds. It was still crowded, however, and our wait in line was about an hour. Well worth it, though–and they were doing a great job of taking care of elderly and handicapped voters, letting them go ahead and they had a handicapped place set up (really just set on a lower table, with a chair, but that makes a big difference when your handicapped, believe me).

Just wanted to share my good feelings. Hugs and boos to everyone, as appropriate.

The best part of election day is the Cute Overload Get Out the Stoat Campaign.

Noon, I’m not going to be able to get my thesis done in time for the fall deadline. I talked to Thesis Director today and got my options decided. Now I have to talk to three other people (at least) to find out if I have to pay money next semester.

Gonna eat lunch, go to the grocery store, and get ready to go results-watching at a bar tonight.

:: falls over from cuteness ::

I’m kinda wishing I had cable. I’m not really a politics junkie in anyway, but…

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

WannagettastoatsocuteSQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!

faints

Everybody’s a political junkie, today. I don’t even live in the same hemisphere and I’m glued to anything about the US elections…
I’ll have to find out what’s happening when I get up in the morning, though. 7 AM here = midnight EST. Seems like about the right time to find out what has transpired

{{{Spaz}}} – that sucks :frowning: I know you’ve been making battle with writing that thesis and making ends meet for so long now… I hope you can hang in there for a few more months. Hopefully you will at least be happy with the results of the election.

SnowBunny… whatever happened to “Vote Early!”?
I’ll bet you’re not planning to vote often, either…!

I dodged a bullet at work today. 1/4 to 1/3 of the company… poof! gone
Quite a few people I worked closely with and liked, too :frowning:
Could turn out to be an opportunity for me… if the company can survive the next half year or so… Right now I’m just happy I still have a job, though.

Home. I went to work and survived, but my gut is still kinda rumbly. Still, I think the worst has passed.

And I voted - in and out in 5 minutes max. Yay.

**FCD **goes to get his new lenses ground and installed today, so he’ll be home a bit later. I’ll probably just make dinner for the kids, 'cause I still don’t feel much like eating. Maybe some tea and toast, but I don’t think I can manage more.

Nice ta see ya again, Dots! How’s things?

Is it Firday yet??

Me too. ← smug

Some of my coworkers had to wait more than an hour.

Yikes, Special1! Sorry to hear about the layoffs, but glad you still have a job!

{{Nooner}} Glad you’re okay… sometimes cuts are necessary, if only to ensure that the company makes it through a rough time, but they royally SUCK.

Seems everyone is cutting back and trimming down lately. :frowning: We just found out today that our budget has been slashed to a small fraction of the original amount due to the current economic conditions, and that all the contractors on our project will not be renewed as we can’t afford to keep them on. Considering that 50% of my team are on contract, the mood is a little gloomy to say the least - work is hard to come by in December even when the economy is good.

Thankfully, I’m a non-contract employee… we seem to be safe for now, unless the budget gets cut down to $0 in the next round of cutbacks.

{{Spaz}} too, coz I forgot to do that in my last post (I got distracted by stoats)

Special1 dang! Glad you survived though.

We got out of work an hour early today for votin’ purposes. Since I already voted I went grocery shoppin’ instead, which is what I was gonna do anyways just got to do it an hour early.

Dotty hey! Good to see ya sweetie!

Nuttin’ much else to report. I’m either gonna watch election returns or go to bed early. Right now, go to bed early has a two to one edge.

Later Y’all!

I changed my mind about later and went in before work (I’d been thinking I’d go at NOL, but changed my mind.) It took me all of five minutes. No line. I’ve got a sticker, but instead of using it, I’m going to save it. I do have it on my desk where people can see it, though.

Also I’m about to scream; today is going sooooooo slow! I want time to speed up, dangit, I want to hear some results!

Yeah, no waiting to vote here, either. I even just happened to get there about 1 minute after my mom.

Feeling blah today. Going to go lie down and read some Harry Potter.

That’s one reason why I’m kind of glad I’m not graduating yet. This is not the time to be looking for work.

Muppet, this is for you: Have you stoated today?

rosie’s sig to all. Just fifteen minutes before the last bit of wall-to-wall coverage begins. I’m willing to bet money on a concession speech in the midnight hour.

Let it be known that I am tired of feeling ick. Except for the rumbly tumbly and occasional, um, gassiness, I feel fine. But it’s the tumbly that pretty much tethers me to a short distance from the bathroom, and that’s getting old.

Maybe tomorrow…

So now the question is - how late do I stay up tonight??? I want to see the Jon Stewart/Stephen Colbert thing on Comedy Central, but it starts at 10, and I get up at 5:15… whine whine whine

Home and fed. Voted before work. Very nervous, but also excited. Not sure if will start drinking, because sure to fall asleep if do. Wish I were downtown, but no go.

Off to turn on TV–polls close here in 6 minutes!
