Il mio viaggio in Italia, an MMP

Wow! Wonder if someday they will archive our remembrances of such a historical event?

nooney, I am glad you are still among the employed. More proof that the economic downturn has very long arms and we’re all in this globally.

Happpy Mumper Hump Day everyone!

Tupug

ETA! First on Three! It’s gonna be a great day!

You couldn’t hear the screaming from across the Atlantic? :stuck_out_tongue:

The bad thing about taking the bus to work is figuring out logistics. I really want a Bojangles biscuit, but I have to catch the bus in an hour.

Hell with it, I’m getting the biscuit. I’ll park at a meter on campus. Yesterday was free ride day so I’ve got two extra bucks in quarters sitting around.

I forgot – I woke up this morning and it’s still true. blink blink Wow.

Oh, once I heard it I figured that’s what had given me all those weird dreams and the migraine (which is a joke-migraine compared to what most other people get, but still the worst my head makes me feel)… Americans hollerin’

If it makes you feel better, everyone in NC canceled each other out.

But not enough. Construction of my bunker begins tomorrow.

Good morning!

It’s a great day to be alive.

Howdy all. Congrats to the 'Murkins on turning a new page in your history. Now we can only hope that the Man can live up to the Hype! Is this kind of how people felt when JFK was elected?

Beats the hell out of me. When he was elected, I still had a placenta attached.

I can only speak for myself, dots, but I think so. Perhaps to an even greater degree.

It just struck me this morning, reading the various news sites, that there is an amazing feeling of optimism surrounding Obama’s election. The fact that Dopers actually took pictures of their ballots, and their trips to vote, made it clear to me that a lot of people feel that this was/is an historic event. Meanwhile, John McCain will likely only be remembered as an also-ran!

Good morning, y’all–it’s sleazy and rainy and I don’t have coffee yet and I still don’t have a job, but it’s a fabulous day nonetheless! All you Nervous Nellies chill out, we’re getting a good guy with brains and a heart who gives a shit about us and how we do up there in the White House and it’s gonna be okay, seriously. If we survived everything Dubya’s done to wipe us out we’re sure gonna be more than cool with President Obama. Dang, I love the way that looks!

As I was telling Sherm in a PM, McCain looked more relaxed, healthier and happier giving his concession speech than he’s looked in weeks. I really think he came to realize that he’s just not up to the job and didn’t have the support team he’d need to do it right. He just wanted to win, but I don’t think he actually wanted to do the job afterward. This way, he gets to be the guy who fought hard but was just overwhelmed by history, he gets to go be the Elder Statesman and gadfly that he’s always been at this best while being. He doesn’t have to mind the Roves and Schmidts and Davises who’ve been pushing him in directions he’s not comfortable with, and the rest of us don’t have to cope with a president who can be so easily manipulated or his backlashes when he gets mad at being maneuvered. It’s a win all around.

{{{Mumpers}}} {{{America}}}

Congrats to you 'Muricans. You picked a good 'un!

Still, it’s a bit of a bittersweet victory from the looks of it. I’m so very sad to see how many states passed discriminatory propositions that specifically restrict marriage to one man and one woman. Sad. :frowning:

Honestly, up here in Canuckistan, we made it legal for same-sex couples to get legally hitched YEARS ago… and yet, we’re not up to our eyeballs in hellfire and brimstone and eternal damnation, even though the hate-mongers swore that’s what we’d get for being so tolerant of Teh Gay. Honestly, our rivers don’t flow sulfurous lava, we don’t have hordes of small demons herding chain-gans of sinners covered in festering boils, and much to my dismay, no naked orgies in the streets either.

I mean, there are days that my job feels like hell, in the black-pit-of-neverending-torment-and-suffering kind of way - but that’s purely a metaphorical kind of hell and I’m pretty sure Teh Gays aren’t responsible for it.

hi

You can staff your defense perimeter with squirrels. I’ve never seen such aggressive rodents as the ones out here.

Hey, Mumpers, I’m having a lovely day, feeling accomplished because I’ve gotten my car tags (AND attached them), deposited a rebate check at the credit union, printed out a passport application so that I can get pictures and mail everything in on Saturday.

Stuff I forgot yesterday:

[ul]
[li]Love the hair, Spaz. [/li][li] and whew!, SO on still having a job.[/li][li]Ummmm…there was more, but I’m still forgetting it.[/li][/ul]

Out to play with cement and then do some gardening.

I’m supposed to be working right now…

It’s always nice to find out that the data I’m working on is 3 years old only AFTER I’ve spent half a day banging my head against the desk trying to figure out why it doesn’t make sense. Half of the info I need isn’t even included in the file!

To make matters worse, my boss is skimming her emails and missing the point entirely. I sent her an “OMG, this data is totally wrong, you need to get me the right data” nearly two hours ago, and her response was “Great, thanks for all your hard work”. :smack: AAARGH.

Another quick post to give advance hugs to gotti. {{{{gotti}}}} I’m sorry about Prop 8! That really sucks ass!

I can’t believe Prop 8 passed. Oh, that is too bad. We fought off our own attack on same-sex marriage here in CT, thankfully.
