I’m glad you can laugh at the suffering people like him are causing. Maybe you can explain to any gay or trans friends you may have that you find the whole thing hilarious.
Fuck you and your fascist cousin.

How’s that working out for you, on a national level?
You keep talking like it’s unitary, and it ain’t. Nobody knows how it’s working out on a national level, because to get those stats, you’d need to know, not the net movement of folks toward Trump, but the total movement of folks toward Trump minus the total movement of folks away from Trump, and then you’d need to interview the latter group to find out how many of them were hastened in their movement by face-saving measures, and then you’d need to interview the Trump stalwarts to find out how many of them were pushed away from leaving Trump by personal hostility from the Left.
Unless you have those numbers, it’s very silly to look at the net move and make sweeping declarations. Instead, look at research in how to change folks’ minds. Start here.
Your post was the OP, which means no one even said anything yet. I call this a, “Just in Case Pit”, just in case someone decided to mouth off on you but hadn’t done it yet. LOL
People have tried that approach for decades, and all it’s done is put the Nazis into power. It just helps people justify support for fascism by denying what they are actually doing. It doesn’t work.
Utter nonsense designed to make venting your spleen feel good.
Oh, please. Until very recently you couldn’t even mention Nazis without people screaming at you about “Godwin, you lose”. We’ve spent decades enabling the return of Nazism by demanding everyone pretend it no longer exists. And now we see the result.
Can. you not see that there is a huge difference between “laughing at suffering” and “laughing at the fact we disagree on who to vote for but can still maintain a civil relationship”?
My cousin, BTW, is not intolerant of LGBTQ folks. He’s just an idiot when it comes to politics.
Fortunately that’s not what I’m suggesting we do. If you are arguing against pretending Nazism doesn’t exist, we’re in agreement!
He voted to have them persecuted, so yes he is. Him being in denial about the results of his actions doesn’t matter to his victims.
Yup. And to tell the truth, I regret saying “fuck you” in my OP. There are people in this thread who violently disagree with me that I would warmly welcome into my home if I were to somehow meet them on the street here. I wouldn’t snarl “fuck you!” to them just because of what they’ve said in this thread, I’d be happy to talk with them. (Um, there are probably a couple I’d just walk away from.)
There is that vague word again- “politics”. Why don’t you tell us what parts of Trump’s agenda he supports, so we can see if they fall under the innocuous banner of “politics”?
BTW, peace, love, tolerance and understanding for your relative is one thing, but you started out this thread with a nasty and preemptive “fuck you” for those with an opposing position, didn’t you?
As if that would make any difference to you. What if I said it’s all about taxes and nothing else? Would that change your position? I doubt it.
Which is fine. I’m just not sure why you even bother to ask.
Fascists got more votes this year than ever before, after yet another massive attempt to find common ground with them and understand their issues and pain. So no, I’m done trying to change minds, because it’s very clearly NOT WORKING.
What if you just answered the question instead of responding with “I would, but you would only…” juvenile bullshit? The preemptive strike crap is tiring.
As long as you look on it as a unitary movement instead of as a chaotic movement back and forth, we’re gonna be talking past each other.
Taxes.
The reason he supports Trump is “taxes”?
That’s it?
You wanted an answer, I gave you one. Does it make a difference?
I don’t know if there is a way to respond to a vague one-word answer like that. Could you please elaborate?
