Humph. I don’t deal with sinister people.
Bizarro Rodney Dangerfield joke:
Doctor: You’re in perfect health, and will probably live to 100.
B-Rodney: I want a second opinion!
Doctor: You’re handsome too.
The OP took an odd approach, but I have noticed we’ve recently had a whole slew of newbies claiming intractable personal problems with varying degrees of believability.
How did we turn into the Dear Snarky Abby of the internet? And more importantly, what can we do to stop this influx of nuttery?
Funny thing is your type are the most insecure of all.
Drive a convertible, do ye?
I don’t.
My advice: be foolish with money.
Oh good lord, it’s HOW many hours later and I just NOW GOT this? I AM a loser. ![]()
And what makes it worse is that I have one that I inherited from my Mother in Law.
I don’t understand this attitude which I have seen here before, I mean if someone in real life starts talking about a serious issue or trauma do you cut them off and say nothing but seek professional therapy?
The threads are obviously titled, people here obviously want to talk about it or offer support, there are those here who have gone through similar issues and can offer advice.
Professional mental help services or therapy can be out of the price range of many, people may not know how to even seek it, or not have the time during the workday to go.
If it interests or helps someone what is the problem?
Sometimes I think “woe is me” threads are NOT helpful. At least, not when the OPers are unsympathetic folks who come across as trolls. They make it that much harder for the next “woe is me” poster to garner sympathy and understanding.
I consider myself a fairly compassionate person. I always try to offer something helpful to posters who seem to come from a pathetic, lonely place. But sometimes I can’t take it anymore. Whenever I get to that point, I stop participating in the thread. But then I find it harder to feel anything for the next internet sadsack I come across.
Compassion fatigue is a real thing.
That said, I don’t really find people with perfect lives to be all that interesting. I tend to like posters who reveal their vulnerabilities and insecurities more than those who act like their shit don’t stink. I just don’t want to be constantly reminded of their imperfections.
…you inherited from your mother in law?
Wait, there’s more…!
I AM sorry for your loss. Still, every time I hear someone is married I think of a line from a Cary Grant movie…
“Married? Goody Two-Shoes and the Filthy Beast!?” - Father Goose, 1964
cue piano notes: F-G-A-Bmajor-C(1/4)-D(1/4)-C(1/4)-A(1/2)-F…
Well, of course you leave a tip at your circumcision. Otherwise, what would be the point?
I seriously just laughed so hard I farted. I wish I were joking, but it’s true.
Clearly this a thread to mock other posters and it’s not in the pit, but some people want to just have fun.
I don’t care if HandsomeGorilla or other woe is me posters are trolls or not, but if you want to call them out, we have a forum for that. I don’t even give a shit what you call them. But don’t be jerk about it in the wrong place.
I did not even realize this was about a specific poster, I thought it was a general satire.
