That is actually a designed safety feature. If you could close it you might forget/not realize there’s no battery in it & therefore it wouldn’t work if needed. The whole unit should be replaced every 10 years or so (sensors can wear out). If you have no clue how old it is, maybe you should not just get a new battery.
No, doggio, altho it was the Val of that vintage. And I LOVE that movie!!!
CREO just crashed, losing the work I’d begun on Brent’s revision. Luckily, it was just a few dimensions. But CREO still sucketh mightily!!
I had 3 ToTs last night, but somehow half the bag of KitKat miniatures is gone. I kind of went into a candy frenzy last night. Mooom, I had a weird dream too, that my college roommate told me to get my act together and grow up. See, I was worried about finishing college…Even though I’m well past gradumation.
Your dreams tickle me. No trick or treaters at my house either even though hubs did bring home a couple bags after telling me “Hell No”.
I am in the middle of EOM. Tahred. My pregnant girl has a cold and now I feel I may be getting it. I swear I don’t understand why people don’t stay home when sick. I need to have that discussion with her.
My bad knee is bothering me so I have an appt for a cortisone shot in it in the am.
Since the hurricane the CO has allowed us lowly civilians to shop at the commissary and exchange. I went to the commissary yesterday and got at least a weeks worth of food and lunch stuff for a tad over $100. Would have been twice that at the Pubic store.
Happy Tuesday. Sari You can come on back now.
Trick or treating happened. 'Beamer is sorting his candy instead of getting ready for school. I must off to chasing the child.
OK. One child is off to school. The other has a migraine and is staying home. So begins Wed-nes-day.
Not much of a baseball fan and I have no idea what teams are in it but -------- for a Game 7 I may just have to watch.
My late MILs standard suggestion/cure for any aches in the head was amputation. ![]()
I really miss my in-laws.
They were both my kind of silly.
Other than that up and getting ready for irk. Bagging up bags of leftover chips to take and leave in the break room. A lot of our folks are pretty broke-assed so free snacks will be appreciated.
Thanks for the info. It was of exactly no help, but I appreciate learning things.
So how to screw up a Wednesday morning. Got the new batteries and installed them, but the chirping continued. Finally took the unit off the wall and snipped the wires…and the chirping continued. Tried to mess with the internal wiring, and almost blew the fuse. About then I realized I was screwing up, so called a local electrician. He came in, listened to the chirp, and pointed to another alarm on the ceiling and said "it’s coming from there’. Turns out I had had another smoke alarm installed when I got a Security system years ago…I cancelled the security system 3 years ago but never removed any of the equipment, so it simply never occurred to me to look up instead of the regular alarm on the wall. He removed the battery and sweet silence was restored. He then spliced and restored the regular smoke alarm with a new battery and all is well. Cost me $85, but I’m always willing to pay when I do something dumb (amazing I have any money left).
Painters are working on the doors now, should finish early in the afternoon, just in time for some rain to show up. And then I referee soccer at 5PM.
Thorsday I am spending in bed. Unless an alarm goes off. Blurf.
I was sadly disappointed that there was no leftover ToT candy in the break room. Dammit. Plus I ran past my usual lunch by 30 minutes because of some crap Josh needed done.
It’s so hard being me!!! <pose of woe>
And now, back to my sammich…
Been doin’ some stuff around da cave and have had N.O.L. Now I am considerin’ nappage. I don’t know how I keep up with this hectic pace of retirement life!
Pace yourself, man!
I got another chore out of the way. I napped.
Home. Supper will be grab whatever. Glad tomorrow’s my Firday - first week back from vacation is killer!
I grabbed the leftover mac-n-cheese-n-peas, and I’ll have some ice cream later. That assumes I can stay awake.
There’s a news story about stores decorating for Christmas already. I hit one of my presets on satellite radio and found myself on a holiday music channel. NONONONONONONONONONONONO!!!!
Bah humbug, dammit.
I got no ToTers; heard them going past, could see them out the window, but there are some advantages in living in a top flat with a basically hidden entrance. Partly makes up for the fact delivery drivers can’t find the door
It looks like I might be getting a new allotment, I just got an email from a local site saying they have a small plot available, and do I want to come and look at it, tomorrow or Sunday. They previously said it’d be maaaybe January at the earliest.
Only problem is almost all my gardening tools are in Bristol in a friend’s garage still.
In other news, I am now the student rep for my course… This means meetings with terribly official people, passing on the collective bitching of the class, which I’m sure will be great fun :dubious: It should look good on my CV at least.
We supped, I cleaned up the kitchen and then we went to the funeral home. We got invited to come at five-thirty as part of the family. The casket is closed for the official visitation which began at six but this was a chance for the family to view Beppie before the casket was closed. We’re glad we went because it gave sense of closure. Also, we’re home before dark and in chill mode. We stopped at MickeyD’s for a chawklit chip frappe on the way back. YUM!
ETA: Nuts yay for the allotment and, I guess, yay for bein’ student rep. That sounds like sump’n maybe you wanted to do, right?
Nice job on the costume sunny!
metal mouse, at CasaRed, that’s called a dumb ass tax.
I put a fresh battery in mine each time change, needed or not. No chirps.
ruble, the amputation suggestion is straight out of my Dad’s handbook.
No TOTers last evening. I wasn’t really expecting any. I got a lot of work done on side projects done at irk today. Now for chillage.
Help me out here.
From the Beatles Back in the USSR.
I’m back in the mp,
back in the mp,
back in the mmp…r?
Work was fine; not too good not too bad. Peak will be interesting. Of the “leadership” left only 3 have been through a Peak in a sortation center. And the rest have no interest in listening to us employees who have been through ---- this will be my fourth. I am taking NO responsible roles this year so basically I can stand back and giggle if everything goes totally bat-shit crazy.
Survived company. But this means I get to leave early tomorrow.![]()
My response to my roommate when she whines about something hurting is “I have a Sawzall.” ![]()
