Here in this thread, I kept rising to Oldscratch’s constant baiting. I tried to resist, oh how I triiiied… but he kept drawing me in to argue some more.
And I just knew he was just being belligerent because he’s such an arrogant wanker, and thinks he is so much better than us, because he use drugs - which as we all know is the epitome of coolness and sophistication. I mean, it’s like smoking when you’re fifteen, right? Oh so adult!

Your statement about breaking the law being wrong by definition was very confusing. Reading the thread, I interpreted it the same way he did. While I don’t condone his comments, I could easily see how he came to the conclusions he did. He attacked to try to get an explanation out of you, and you got defensive. Due to some strong words alrerady having been exchanged, what otherwise would have been an easily resolved miscommunication devolved into insults.
At 3am, I’m nosy and pushy, so I’ll stick my 2¢ in.
The next time you see an MPSIMS thread about recreational drug use, stay out of it. If people want to get together and post their high times there, let them. Don’t post anything. Nothing you say is going to convince them to stop, and posting there only invites them to jump on you and string you along.
I faintly recall another thread in MPSIMS (within the last 2 months) where you and oldscratch got into an un-MPSIMS-like discussion about his drug use. Frankly, I would have used that thread as a reason to stay out of the one you linked to. oldscratch has his ideas of what makes for a good time. You don’t agree with them. So let it alone. Don’t look for trouble.
I know you’re trying to help them, but it’s pretty obvious to me that they don’t think they need any.

Guano, as I already said in the MPSIMS thread, this is not a very debatable subject. It’s a highly personal decision, and there are a lot of reasons why you and oldscratch disagree.
I think oldscratch, zen101, and you are equally to blame for derailing that thread. I will, however, admit that you were not the aggressor in this case. That much can be deduced from my comments there, I think. Still, taking the bait and responding accordingly is just as bad. I know it’s frustrating, but sometimes you just have to swallow your pride, and have confidence in the fact tht your opponent will make a fool out of himself. Which oldscratch did, in this case - IMHO.
But Audrey is right: you’re not gonna change someone’s mind over these things. You have your opinion, and you’re entitled to it. While my personal opinion may be closer to oldscratch’s, I have to give you credit for being, at times, the voice of reason in that thread by pointing out that you respected oldscratch’s opinion. Something he apparently could not do, judging by his comments along the lines of “you’re in the wrong”, and such.
Still, this is a matter best left alone between the two of you. You’ll save yourself a lot of frustration.

I’m not one for siding in arguments but I definately agree with you. I come from your similar belief structure about drug use and it being nothing but illegal hence it is wrong. So I don’t think what you written was at all confusing nor misleading. Maybe everyone just can’t read at as high a level as you and I. Despite the fact that that comment made me laugh my ass of, and despite the fact that he simply employed synonyms, he did cross the line in that forum. Someone states drugs alter one’s personality; ergo, it is wrong to do drugs. Perhaps the reasoning arises from the misconception that drugs are artificial. Sorry, not all of them are synthetic. By the way, the term synthetic is the term you are looking for, not artificial. Perhaps the reasoning arises due to the nature of the neurochemical reactions in the brain as a result of introducing drugs into the body. Sorry, oldscratch was right. By any definition sucrose is a drug. Sure, some hallucinogens act upon uptake inhibitors or neurotransmitters such as seratonin, and in that sense the reactions differ, but they are more similar than you are willing to recognize. Face the facts. Anything one introduces into one’s body has an impact on their composition. Electrochemical reactions happen. Sucrose alters one’s personality. I’m hypoglycemic–I know. In essence, anything introduced into the body has an effect. The argument was what? Oh yeah, drugs alter one’s personality; ergo, it is wrong to do drugs.
