Congratulations! I will third (or fourth, fifth, something) the don’t sweat the small stuff advice. The wedding will still be beautiful and memorable.
Aw!
(Though I’m wondering if you know that a julep requires that you boil sugar water, lightly crush mint and pour the sugar mixture and bourbon over crushed ice into a silver julep cup. I’m sure you have better things to be doing on your wedding day. Buy him a half-pint of Makers; he’ll make do.)
Don’t worry - you have plenty of time to get nervous yet.
Don’t do it! You still have time! Just kidding. You’re a beautiful couple and I wish you all the best.
Congrats! May you both never have arguments over the toilet paper direction.
Congratulations and best wishes!!!
I forgot to ask - are you guys incorporating any Swedish or Indian elements into it?
Um… I guess now it would be awkward as hell to state that I always thought you were a female?
Congrats! She’s lovely and you two look very happy.
And blonde, because of the name?
If the ceremony involves any kneeling down, check out the bottoms of your shoes when you put them on. My brothers were my groomsmen/ushers and they found a bottle of Liquid Paper the night before. On the bottom of the left shoe, they wrote “HE” and on the bottom of the right shoe, “LP.”
Congregation got a nice little chuckle out of that.
Beware the Chicken Dance. It is most undignified.
That sounds like it belongs in the Monty Python non sequitur thread.
More to the point: wishing that today is the worst day of your life together.
Think about it.
Congratulations! I hope all goes well today, and welcome to the married folks club!
Good luck today! I hope everything goes well and that you can laugh about the things that will not be perfect.
Congrats! You two make a great couple. Get her posting more on here
So, I take it you’re inviting all the Orlando dopers to the wedding? Haha, just kidding. (But seriously, I enjoy weddings.)
Thanks for the well-wishes and such, everyone. I guess the thread title should now be I’ve gotten married!
We did find 10 minutes to soak it all in between the ceremony and reception, mostly by hiding in the bridal suite before our entrances. The soaking-in was interrupted pretty much immediately by a flood of bridesmaids who came in to bustle the dress and help her get the veil off.
We didn’t - her family are fourth-generation immigrants, so the most Swedish thing about them is the name and some old furniture. She wore something Swedish but I forgot what it was. She also wore a mangalsutra for part of the reception, and some of the traditional bridal bangles the whole time (I have no idea what those are called).
My mother is throwing a Hindu marriage blessing ceremony/party for us, and we’ll both wear traditional dress (kurta, mandarin collar coat on me; sari for her) during the ceremony.
Only have a couple of pictures uploaded so far, but here’s one I like. I’ll post more soon.
Congrats again
I hear you, RNATB; I’ve been there. Fortunately for me, this time I saw the platter with watercress garnish right away.
I hope to have a thread discussing porcine aviators in a few months.
Say, you were married on Saturday? And the honeymoon’s in New York? Can it be coincidence a car bomb was just planted in Times Square? Shouldn’t Homeland Security at least interview you?
We’re staying at the Millenium Hotel at the UN Plaza. Some big muckety mucks are here so there are a sozen armed uniformed LEOs in the lobby and about 20 more guys with suits and earpieces. Plus about twice the number outside. We had to pass through metal detectors and have our baggage X-rayed just to get to the elevators! Just got into the room… its’s a corner room with a view of the river and midtown.
