I’ve just got a few misconceptions to clear up:
- I only posted this in the Pit, because for Og’s sake, where else would it go? I knew it would turn into a bitch-fest. Which leads me to…
- Of course you can call me an attention whore, whatever. It’s the Pit.
- The snarkiness I am referring to is not about the Pit, people. It’s about the same snarky people who have snuck into MPSIMS, IMHO, and GD. Cafe Society still seems to be full of nice people. It’s not that I have thin skin…I’ve taken my lumps in the Pit though I’ll acknowledge not as much as some of you. I just think, if flirting should be regulated to MPSIMS, then being mean and caustic should be in the Pit.
- I apologize to Paul in Saudi, that GD thread, the person who brought it up (Shayna), and anyone else who was offended. Yup, that was wrong of me to be hair-trigger and not come back and say anything. Sorry.
CateAyo, El_Kabong, Miller, The Gaspode, Queen Tonya, Ethilrist, and anyone who defended me who I can’t see because I can’t see all the posts now…thank you.
And for you who think I shouldn’t even post that I’m leaving? Yeah, fuck you. I can post whatever I want same as you can.
Ok, now that that’s cleared up. My point was not “Look at me, I’m leaving”, but “I’m leaving, and before I go, I want to make these specific points and want to be heard.” Not only was I heard, a bunch of you proved me right.

I disagree. Attention whoring is posting about yourself, in particular when trying to solict sympathy. One of the higher forms of attention whoring, on a messageboard, would be to start a thread stating your intended posting habits. “I’m leaving!” and “Hello, I’m new!” are typical attention whoring posts. This OP takes it to the next level. (Of course, she didn’t link a picture, so she still has room to ratchet it up a notch.)
I don’t agree that posting a question in GQ or commenting on a tv show in CS is being an attention whore. While I might concede that every post you make, whichever forum it’s in, means “look at you”, I would not agree that that’s the case for all posts from all posters.
It just occured to me that the vast majority of MPSIMS is attention whoring. Since it’s such an unwieldy name, I advocate changing the forum name from “Mundane Pointless Stuff I Must Share” to the much simpler synonym, “Attention Whoring”.

andros - one thing that’s always bugged the hell out of me is when people splice up a post in small sentences and reply, sentence, by sentence. It makes a rebuttal really hard (with the nested quote tags) since there isn’t a lot of coherence in the post one is trying to rebut.
So - in short. No, all former mods have not written columns, but all former mods get SDSAB. The title is not the issue, it’s just another thing to point to when seeing what have happened during the last 14 months.
The Reader gives this place a budget which will buy Jerry a danish and a cup of coffee. Ed rely on volounter work so heavily, that when one of those people screw up big time, he can’t afford to throw that person out.
As for shut up and pay up - no, no one has made that a sticky. But the feeling I get from TPTB is that they want it that way. They don’t want waves and trouble, they don’t have the time and they don’t have the energy - again, what with this place not having any kind of budget.
And dude, the rant was lame - so what. It’s not like the other posts in this thread are blistering with wit. Or that the Pit ever does nowadays.
