You can’t go Anaamika, who else will stand up for the spiders?
For the love of god, will someone please think about the spiders!?!?!?
On topic, I’m really digging this concept of judging people based on one post or thread. Fun stuff. Anaamika is an attention whore. Must be a sure thing based on this one thread. Put money on it. It’s a safe bet.
I understand that this is the pit and all, but it seems like a bunch of people took an extra asshole pill this morning (yes they do come in suppositories). Reading well over half the replies here, I can certainly see Anaamikas point.
As you’re obviously far too grounded and mature to roll around in the Pit with the nasssssty little high-schoolers, I hope it’s not too presumptuous to hope that I never see your handle in here again…
I’ll note that the people being all mean and hateful and omigod say it ain’t so are also using the boards in whatever way they want within the terms of use… After all - we’re paying customers. Anaamika is welcome to declare her intention to leave the mean, nasty Pit, and her respondents are welcome to declare that she’s an assbite for it.
You’re absolutely right. I had never heard of Anaamika before this particular thread. Somehow, I had missed all 5000+ of her posts. Yup, I jumped right to the conclusion that she was an attention whore based solely on this one OP. Guilty as charged.
And I’m ever so grateful to her for pointing out that the board has gone downhill. In all the time I’ve been here, I’ve never heard anyone say such a thing. But now that she’s mentioned it, I realize that the happy happy fun land has turned into a virtual hell.
Let Anaamika’s declaration be our wake-up call! We must shape up, lest Anaamika ship out!
You beat me to it. Are you kidding, Harborwolf? Anaamika was everywhere for a good while. You couldn’t go two or three threads without tripping over her. In fact, for a brief moment, I wondered if Guinistasia changed her username. And I’m not even counting the dozens she started herself.
You know, if she had posted this a year ago in MPSIMS, it would have been responded to with fairly good humor, with “When come back, bring pie” and “all your posts are belong to us,” and perhaps the occasional poo-flinging malcontent who would get a moderate admonishment for said poo.
Today, no matter where she posted it, all there would have been was poo-flinging, which is, as she said, only appropriate in the Pit. She wanted the people who care to know that she’s going to be focusing on CS for a while. If you’re not one of those people, she understands that you’re not going to get it, and she put this in the Pit so you can fling away.
You know, if she had posted this a year ago in The Pit, it would have been responded with exactly the same mix of “you go girl” with " you people are sooooo mean." The same posts, almost to the word.
“You all all mean here in the pit. This place is going down hill! I’m leaving!”
“Attention whore!”
“Meanie”
That’s always how these type of OPs go here in the Pit.
P.S. “When come back, bring pie” isn’t good-natured. It is mocking the OP.
a) If people had flung poo (what a precious turn of phrase) in MPSIMS, it could have been reported to a mod, the person who did the shit-slinging warned, and perhaps a case could have been made for less assholery in MPSIMS.
b) Of course there were going to be forcefully flung feces - she started an “I’m leaving” thread. Those are generally considered (by us mean assholes who don’t let anyone do anything fun) poor form as well as one of the worst forms of attention-whoring.
c) “Attention-whoring” in this case is the difference between merely wearing a miniskirt, and standing up on a table shrieking “OMIGOD MY SKIRT IS SO SHORT YOU CAN SEE MY ASS!!”
d) I find it extraordinarily unlikely that the “people who care” are in the habit of wandering the Pit looking for vital announcements from their constituents.
e) Thanks for the permission. Don’t get any on ya’.
If no one really cared about the OP (as has been mentioned more than once), then wouldn’t it have simply gone unresponded to?
I don’t much like this kind of OP either (why throw in the “oooh, I’m leaving bit” if that’s not the “point”?), but clearly it makes it much easier to create one when the obvious lame arguments are going to ensue (non-penis).
I don’t think all posters are attention-whores either, but it seems like the standard reply to OP’s of this nature are more attention-seeking than posts in CS. How ironic.
I do think the content of the pit has changed a bit. We still get the pittings based on conflicting idiologies. We still get the ‘isn’t it horrible’ threads about news reports of terrible doings. But we don’t seem to have a lot of what I think of as the ‘fun’ pittings.
Memorable examples of what I mean include the threads on 1) check splitting, 2) tipping 3) travelling with young children 4) whether fat people should have to buy extra space on planes.
Threads that it seems everyone relates to and has relevant stories to contribute on both sides.
Why is this, do you suppose? Have we ‘used up’ all the ‘good’ subjects?
Is it that the average ‘experience level’ on the dope board has gone up, now that it is pay? Because to kick off that kind of thread, someone has to post a heart-felt, maybe over the top rant about a situation that isn’t totally black and white. But ranters mostly want to be agreed with, I think, so if you realize that your OP will bring counterattacks from the ‘other side’ you think twice and don’t post?
As in, it takes a ‘newbie’ to post along the lines of “I hate people who bring their uninvited brats to parties”? And we just don’t have enough newbies?
Good point. Somehow the “no joke pittings” policy seems to have evolved into “if your thread doesn’t raise the blood pressure high enough it will get locked or moved to MPSIMS with a sniff of ‘This isn’t Pit material.’ Only sincerely angry rants need apply.”
