I'm Going To Go See 'Poultrygeist'

Poulttrygeist It’s the latest from Troma films. It is part of the Kansas City International Film Festival.

I have enjoyed other Troma films, and I think this should be interesting. I’ll come back afterwards and give my $0.02.

Well, they had passes on the radio this morning. I called in and what do you know, I got through. It’s for me +1, and my usual +1 couldn’t get away from work in time. Anybody else enjoy bad movies? Can get to Glenwood Arts theater before 5:30 tonight? My email is in my profile (I’m pretty sure - never received an email from anybody here on the board before… but it should work).

Troma still makes films? Cool!

Has anyone seen a Troma film in an actual theater? All the ones I’ve seen were rentals, or on late night tv – remember ‘Night Flight’ on the USA channel? I’m pretty sure that’s where I saw Nuke 'em High.

This should be interesting to see this kind of junk on a big screen.

Hee hee, I’ve seen the preview for this flick and it looks fantastic. Do let us know what you thought (although I’m a bit put off by you referring to Troma films as ‘junk’. Those are fine films, mister!).

Sorry NailBunny, I didn’t mean to offend. I was using ‘junk’ in the strictest, non-bad, just-general-stuff meaning (sheesh).

In the context of a Troma film, Poultrygeist was really good. In the context of a mainstream film, it was cheesy, disgusting, offensive and f***ing hilarious.

The musical numbers were funny, but not TOO frequent, so it didn’t get annoying. The gratuitous nudity was very tastelessly done (so, bonus there). There was some toilet humor (very in-your-face wink wink). There were several beheadings. The blood and guts and green goo are everywhere by the end of the movie. Lloyd Kaufman was at the theater for this screening, he introduced the movie as “Schindler’s list, but replace the Jews with chickens and replace Nazi Germany with a fast food chicken restaurant.” I would say that was an apt intro.

Groups that may be offended by this movie: American Indians, Chickens, Middle-easterners, Collegiate Lesbians, Gay Hollywood Scientologists (you know who they’re talking about), People into Bestiality, People into Grown Baby Play, Dimwits, Counter-girls, Drunks, Gay Mexicans and I’m sure I’m forgetting some people, so if you are easily offended, don’t go see this.

If you like Troma films, you will love Poultrygeist.
