If they are a vast coalition of disparate interests and contradictory elements, then why do you generalize them every time you post?
As long as we identify what Trump used to gain power as neo nazi ideals.
In any case what it is the real truth is that Communists also like to get rid of liberals and intellectuals.
But comparing to the number of people protesting peacefully the attempt of the right is in really to nutpick and smear all liberals.
Despite what they claimed, they were not communists.
Not every time!
But why do I do it? I get sick of reading uneducated attacks on the right.
I didn’t vote for Trump but all I see on this board is nasty ad hominem attacks on Trump and those who support Trump. Now, I couldn’t vote for Trump for many reasons. But I’m not about to bash those that did. It’s unproductive to do so in the long term. However, there may be some productivity in figuring out what the best elements of the left are and cleaving them from the worst. The Democratic Party has many good and useful ideas and people but they’ve made, similarly to the Republican Party, a crazy coalition to get power.
How convenient. No True Scotsman strikes again?
In the words of Mike Doonesbury: “Dream on, you fascist”
Is it? The last ten years have been a constant torrent of slander and abusive rhetoric coming from the right, and now you guys control all three branches of government. I mean, we just elected a guy who spent years accusing the previous president of being a mole for radical Islam, and you’re telling us that trashing your political opponents is a bad idea?
Seems like the smart move would be for the left to crib from that playbook.
Neither country practiced communism. As an example, there would have been no secret stores for the party elites, well stocked with western goods and the best the USSR could supply while the common citizens waited in line for hours for a ration of TP.
What we also saw, back in October, was a plan to commit terrorist acts at mosques on the day after the election (presumably under the assumption that Trump would lose). Just because their plan was discovered and stopped doesn’t make it any less reprehensible. Don’t pretend political violence is something that only happens on the left.
Stupid edit function isn’t working…the plot was actually targeting an apartment complex (which housed Muslim immigrants), not a mosque.
Seeing the actions of the left in the US it seems to me that is not just that many drank the Kool-Aid, someone spiked it with Dr. Jekyll’s formula. I don’t think there was this much aggressiveness towards different points of view before.
To illustrate the type of beheaviour I’ve encountered it would be like something out of Blackadder, a general comes up with a plan to win the battle by sending waves after waves of unarmed, bare chested men over the top, across No Man’s Land, towards the enemy trenches bristling with machine guns, with the idea that the display of sheer virtue will make the Huns surrender in awe and shame, a lower ranking officer says, “excuse me sir, but wouldn’t it be better if we mount a surprise attack with armed men following a creeping barrage?” to which the general would answer “Clearly this man is a traitor working for the enemy, take him out and shoot him”.
After writing that I read this:
Who’s the fascist in all this? The one who thinks rights should be equal for all and tolerated for all? Or the one who thinks the mob gets to decided who has rights via the threat of violence?
It is a bad idea. The election of Donald Trump in many ways is very worrisome. I was worried about anti-globalist backlash and the rise of nationalism since the 90s. But I suppose if the goal is merely political power and not a country that progresses in justice and policy than any tactic that gets that power is technically a smart move in the short term.
Just because it didn’t meet the platonic ideal of communism doesn’t mean it wasn’t communism as communism is understood. Please don’t be the person who claims communism will work THIS time if properly implemented. Note to you and others: it won’t.
I don’t follow. All I know is that bringing hammers, guns, and pipes to a speech is mob violence. Throwing bricks at the police should result in felony charges and prison time. It’s time to crack down on left-wing anarchists who violently suppress civil rights.
What about right-wing presidents who suppress civil rights?
I didn’t know anarchists suppressed civil rights.
Totalitarians I get, demagogues, reactionaries, fascists, dictators, even conservatives on many occasions. Not anarchists.
I reckon our friend is tertiary stage of his illness or just flailing.
Gotta admire the courage of those protestors, going out amongst the blazing carnage that is America these days. How many reports of casualties from the roving gangs of drug addict and the urbans? I haven’t seen that news yet.
When that occurs start a thread about it.
Sorry that you can’t figure out what those fools on the West Coast and Washington are doing dressed as anarchists and smashing property, attacking the police, and intimidating speakers. It’s strange that you can be so intellectually dishonest and not even read REAL NEWS!!11!! links. Or watch youtube videos of these left wing hooligans and thugs in action.
Oh and here’s yet more footage, along with commentary, of exactly what I described.
In addition to laying off the ad-hominem attacks perhaps try to be truthful.Anarchists! Fuck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Trumpism, Dude, at least it’s an ethos.
Can we just pause for a moment and imagine what the right’s reaction would have been if there was credible evidence during the last election that Obama colluded with a foreign government to influence the election? Just imagine the reaction if GOP servers were hacked by the Russians and there was evidence of people in Obama’s team talking to the Russian government. Ask yourself what would Clothahump and octopus be saying then? Does anyone honestly believe that they would consider anyone protesting Obama under those circumstances a “special snowflake?”
