I'm in love with these shoes

Oooh! Fluevogs! Those heels are the kind that I’d love, but which I don’t buy because I wear dresses exactly **once ** a year unless there’s a wedding or funeral, and can’t see my way to shelling out that much for once-a-year shoes.

FWIW, have you thought about trawling ebay? That’s how I got my Derby Swirls for approx $50 cheaper than retail…

Also, check out the LJ community bootstomp – you can sometimes find bargains on boots there, but a lot of them tend to be the platform clubbing gear kind of boot, so YMMV.

I have a favorite pair of eff-me clogs that I got Chez Target. They are rust colored suede with decorative stitching and a really high platform clog heel. They go really well with jeans.

I like these and these . I have a thing for pink heels.

That’s the problem, I don’t really go to the type of parties where you wear shoes like that. Although, if I get them, I’ll wear 'em anyway (my friends are pretty tolerant of my eccentricities) so all the gay men can tell me I look fabulous:slight_smile:

Thanks for the tip, lizardling. I already have a list I check out everyday on eBay (mostly my favorite dress brand, Stop Staring) and I’ll have to remember to search shoes too…

Well in that case, you’re invited to some of the parties I’ve been to recently. Those shoes are just too DAMN! to waste.

I want to go shoe shopping now! Look what you’ve done!

Time for a man to check in… one that likes women’s feet, so it’s not unbiased.

Thank you ladies for the fight against ignorance, I was shocked, Shocked to learn that there are:

  1. Women without the shoe gene. My life would be cheaper, but much less fulfilling if my favorite lady lacked that gene.

  2. There are women that think $160 is expensive for shoes. I have shoes that cost twice that, and consider them well worth it.

  3. Hi, Opal, just 'cause I always wanted to do that.

  4. Less than 20 dollar Target shoes look like less than 20 dollar Target shoes. I am sure that it’s practical and responsible, but they are waht they are.

  5. There are men who seem not to be encouraging their SOs not to buy every sexy shoe there is.

And Monica, if I was Mr. Monica, you would be wearing the Manolo’s because I’d be danm proud to be seen anywhere with a woman wearing those. And you would not have to pay for dinner, but we’d be going out a lot. I’d want the world to see you in those shoes. A woman in sexy shoes is just magnificent.

OK, I think I have embarrased myself enough, off to the cold shower.

<ahem> Makes two of us… </ahem>
You don’t suppose we could start a favourite lingirie thread?..

I don’t think I have the ovaries for those shoes, but god-damn! Those are some sexy shoes!

Right now, I’m coveting a pair of high top canvas Chuck Taylors. Maybe black, maybe pink. I can’t decide.

I have a pair like the ones in the first link - not from Target, from Nordstroms. And the material has more of a faux-croc look to it.

Susan

OOps, I missed thatyou had danglies, finding a new degree of blushing. And we could do the lingerie thing, but, it has to have shoes.

Please tell me that you get the difference between Nordstrom and Target shoes. Please?

Natch!

I’m a guy, and I think even I’d notice these on a woman’s feet. They’re hot.

I don’t have the shoe gene.

I have the I-Have-Ugly-Wide-Feet-And-I’d-Trip-In-Heels-That-High gene.

Ah, I’m in a very good mood. I finally got my wedding shoes. I have tiny, tiny feet (size 34), so I had great difficulty in getting anything other than chunky flowergirl flats.

I got them from Melbo, they’re the Swan style on this page: http://www.melboshoes.co.uk/mrange.html

Not only do they look gorgeous and fit like a dream, but I can dye them afterwards and wear them for years…yeay!
Nothing like new shoes to make life better…go on, treat yourself, you’ll be smiling everytime you wear them!

Yes, there is often a difference between Target shoes and Nordstroms shoes. Not always. Nordstroms carries some cheaper “juniors” brands that look no more well-made than Target’s. There are differences between these $95 shoes and Target’s $17 dollar version but for fun shoes that I’ll wear for one season at most, it’s not worth $78.

You can find attractive and stylish shoes for under $200 and the vast majority of Americans do not spend $200 on shoes. Many of them still manage somehow to look presentable.

Oh, yes, definitely. I have gorgeous shoes from both stores. It’s really a matter of finding well-made shoes, period. If they’re not made well, then the name doesn’t matter.

Susan

Oh, I suppose there is a difference. Never being able to afford Nordstrom shoes, I can’t tell you for sure, but I’m sure there’s some quality difference. Certainly I prefer Susan’s spectacular Indian-inspired sandals to the poor-cousins at Target.

But $200 is my family’s grocery budget for an entire month. It’s my daily average balance in my checking acount, and we have exactly nothing in savings or investments. It would be unconscionable for me to blow that much on a pair of shoes, well-made and fabulous or no.

So I buy the poor cousins because I am a poor cousin. And I thought I’d share an option for those of us who can’t afford Nordstrom’s. Frankly, I feel a little hurt when you insinuate that I’m ignorant simply because I can’t afford something. It’s not about ignorance, it’s about responsibility. I don’t think that’s how you meant it to come off, so I’m not going to let it bug me, but I do want to let you know that’s how it felt.

A deeply felt “Sorry, I sounded like an ass,” to all of you who may have felt this way. It was not how I intended it, but it sure was how it came across. After rereading it several times, I am truly baffled at what point I thought I could have been making. I am a :wally

I have no money this month I must not buy shoes.

I never thought that I had the girly shoe gene thingy until I left university and actually had some money. I recently moved house and counted up how many pairs of shoes I had - 36. That is correct 36 pairs of shoes from flip flops up to black leather knee high boots. I am not allowed to wear sky high heals due to the fact that I fall off them and hurt myself (one more badly hurt ankle means surgery :frowning: ) however I loves me some shoes with small heels.

I need shoes dammit! It is my birthday this month but I just can’t. Well not this week anyways
