I'm late, I'm late! (a late MMP from Spain)

Oh my. Somebody made a big boo-boo. Our new assignment list just came out. NC isn’t on it (yay for her!) and AC has been demoted. There are 2 open positions in our group now. I cannot believe that it took this freaking long to figure out how to structure our group. Oh, and AC just came over to ask me about the list. Apparently, no one told her she’d been demoted, she found out via email. An email that went out to all.   I told her to call our supervisor. Am I bad for finding this hilarious? God, I love this place. What will happen next? Ooh, our supervisor just tried to recall the message. Uh, it’s a little late now, don’cha think?

MBG - no that wasn’t me who read thta book, tho I did express an interest in it and I did put it on my Amazon wish list

poor picu and poor picu’s finger. The percoset may not kill the pain, but for sure it will make it easier to sleep, which you’ll need.

I ended up not going in because I got a tummy ache while I was getting dressed. it won’t go away. I’m going to whimper myself to sleep tonight - wanna shove a few perc thru the cd drive for me?

I could use a few perc myself right now. I’m wearing socks and sweatpants, because it has cooled off but not enough to turn on the heat. I went to sit down in the bead/junk room and my foot slid on the hardwood floor right up under the table, which has a rung at just the right height to wack my foot-bones at the ankle. So now it is swelling and turning colors not normally found in nature. It’s the foot I broke a few years ago, too. Damn it. I don’t care if Mr. SCL has to get the wheelchair out of the attic, I am going to training camp in the morning!

Other than that…DB, you made me laugh.

rigs, I don’t think you’re being materialistic at all. It’s a connection to your sister.

I am very, very tired. But, I still have lots to do. I’m cooking dinner right now, and my niece is on her way over. After that, we need to stop and buy a present for great nephew and head off to see nephew, his girlfriend and the new baby.

Oh! My water for the gnocchi just started boiling. I’ll try to come back later.

rosie,Picu,Dot, hope you feel better. Alas, I have nothing stronger for you guys than Jose Cuervo.

Man, this is just a painful bunch today. As in everybody’s hurting. Stop hurting yourselves, people! That’s an order!

I’m really glad my friend in Michigan asked us to help out her son’s friend who lost his leg. What a nice family they are! I had a lovely yak with the mom tonight; as soon as the son is able to, which should be soon, we’re going to take them out go sightseeing or whatever. As I told her, it’s not necessarily pure generosity on our part; the only time we go see the sights in DC is when we’re taking tourists around! In the meantime, he got to take his first shower today. In over a month. Apparently he was a prune before got out. And who can blame him? And the breakaway sweats I made were great, so now I know what to do on the rest. Plus make him some breakaway fleece pants since it’s turning colder and he’s going to be here for a while.

Nobody has outbid me yet on that serger and there’s only an hour to go on the auction. Ulp…

Maybe I should have stayed out of the MMP–it’s accident-prone today! picu, ow ow ow! That sounds really painful. I hope the graft goes okay. SCL, I hope you didn’t break anything!

Taters, sleep well! Life is harder when you don’t get enough sleep. Try some of the Origins sleepy bath stuff (I don’t remember what it’s called, but it’s very nice).

Amish quilts are so gorgeous! It’s worth spending some money to get a really good one.

Mama Tiger, I hope you get the serger! I’m only a little teeny bit jealous. I want a serger, but I can’t get one right now. They’re nifty. I’m just worried that I’d cut off important things when I’m using the trimmer.

rigby, I’m sorry your jacket is gone. :frowning: Even if you got another one, it wouldn’t be the same. If someone took it, I hope karma bites them in the butt. Maybe the house-elves traded the jackets. My squirrels have done that–they dig up my plants, but sometimes they bring me new things, like a little green plastic bucket and a Christmas cactus. Very bizarre.

I just got a new bunny! He’s the most gorgeous-est rabbit ever–he’s a gray angora with one loppy ear and one uppy ear, and he has a big, twitchy nose. He might go live with my mom, if I don’t get too attached (or he might stay here). He’s shredding newspaper and munching hay. I think he likes it here.

I’m sending off some work samples, and if they like them, I might have an interview next week! Yay! I need a new job. Someday I’ll post some of the very Dilbert-esque things that have happened in the past few months. I’m maintaining my sense of humor, but sometimes it’s hard.

I have to go put away some laundry before I go to bed. It’s going to be another late night.

picu, how are you doing? I’m really, really sorry. Ow. Dammit. It hurts just to think about damage to one of my hands. Ow.
rigs, I don’t think you’re shallow. It’s a piece of your past. I’d be upset.
My mom wouldn’t work in one of those mom-gatherings: except for occasional episodes of bipolar, she’s one of the most reasonable and sarcastic people I’ve ever met. Sorry. She told me she is not sarcastic, she just has a well-developed sense of irony.

I should go to bed. Tired.

OhOhOhtry this if you’re gonna get a house bunny. I want a house bunny just reading it.

I am very sorry I have seriously neglected telling people, such as thebesteverrigby, that I am sorry they are feeling pain. Do you think your sister would want you to hurt? {Kick your ass, maybe, but we won’t go there…}}

your coding needed a wee bit of repair

My husband almost brought a bunny home last week. It obviously a house bunny (it hopped up to one of the firemen to be picked up) that got lost at the airport, not a good place for a bunny.
He was about to say he’d call me to ask, when one of the other guys said he’d take it home to his petless children. Since we have existing pets, without children, he let the other guy take it.

I’m only here now because I can’t take any more pain pills for another hour, so I’m awake. One handed typing is awkard enough, that it takes my mind off the pain. (ok, it doesn’t but time passes if I’m doing something.)
BTW, SnakesCatLady, you put a comma before “http” in your coding. I removed it in the quote. I hope that’s ok.

You know, 'mika, I have the same problem!

In Spanish, the siblings of my husband or the spouses of my siblings are my cuñados (cuñada if female). The spouse of my husband’s siblings or the sibling of my sibling’s spouse would be concuñado; my mother is my SiL’s suegra and SiL’s parents are Mom’s consuegros…

It’s one department in which English seems to be sorely lacking.
picu, reading your post hurts. Owwwwwwww!

I just realized something as I got to work. When I picked my chair (one of the very few that didn’t have an owner) I was warned that it’s cursed: nobody who sits here lasts long. Four of the last 5 chairholders have left for greener grass, the 5th got an internal promotion.

A Country is looking eyecrossingly close. And, having been there a couple times already, I can tell that the grass is greener than most of the grass in Spain. Most of Europe has greener grass than Spain, here you need to water pine trees to make 'em green :stuck_out_tongue:

Gotta go work now.

Very interesting OP, Nava, especially about the Ir de Vistas.

FCM, sounds like you really had a nasty day! :frowning: Good luck on Tuesday, and hope it isn’t as long.

My weekend was relatively quiet; I didn’t get as ambitious as last weekend when I baked a pie and made some chicken white chili, but I did oven roast some teriyaki chicken wings, which were very tasty.

I’ve been reading my way through the 12 (yes, that’s right, twelve) books I got at the local librarie’s used book store (paperbacks are 3 for $1!); currently up is an Alfred Hitchcock anthology of stories, which so far is fairly good even if the stories are from about 25 years ago. LOL I’ve been considering getting the Lemony Snicket* books - I read the Chronicles of Narnia books earlier this year for the first time and enjoyed them, so am hoping that I’d also enjoy the Snicket series. In a totally different vein, I’m also trying to decide if I want to get the two Dexter books that the Showtime series is based on. I don’t mind being spoilered, but it might be better to watch it unfold on tv, I think.

DOH! I shouldn’t try to do code in the middle of the night! I have some additions, but I’m not putting any more code in here, so …

Picu - YIKES!!! I’m sorry that you’re still in pain, too. :frowning: Sending healing thoughts and prayers your way.

Taxi78cab, one of my cousins makes quilts - they’re beautiful but very expensive!! My favorite is Grandma’s Flower Garden. Amish quilts have some really wonderful designs, good luck in choosing the right one for you.

Rigs, so sorry about your jacket! Sending good thoughts and prayers your way and hoping that it might still turn up somewhere.

I know I’m missing others! :frowning: I’ll be back Tuesday evening. Healing thoughts going out to all injured parties & parts!! (hoping that will cover in the meantime…)

You all are so nice-must be why I like you so much.
picu --that does not sound pleasant, even for when you’re really bored. I hope the skin graft takes. Ouch and (ew).
Off to work as a nurse-I’ve been off since last Tuesday. It felt great. Time to make the doughnuts and some real money.

Just got a call. The guy who was leaving is not leaving any more. So I’m not moving to Switzerland. Pity, that’s one place where you can always get good chocolate.

But since ten minutes before I’d gotten a call from a company in Tudela asking for my resume, I’m not about to go into the bathroom and cry.

I think that must be it. I never even thought of that one. Thanks, Tupug!

She’s either your hubby’s SIL, or your BIL’s wife. My brother has taken to calling his daughter-in-laws’ parents (yes, both nephew have wives (or will after next Saturday)) his cousins.

or my favorite - SILIL

That was my mother. Every time she came to visit, she’ d clean something. Once I cleaned house from top to bottom to thwart her but she outsmarted me…and that flower garden did need some weeding.

Hope everybody is feeling better today.

I am Le Tired. First of all, I stayed up watching Heros, and, second of all, Jade the dog had some kind of panting episode where she could not get comfortable. It wasn’t hot so I can only guess she had indigestion or something. Anyway, I didn’t sleep well.

Much to do today. Later.
