I'm Looking for a Song(!)...

For over ten years now, I have been beside myself trying lyrics search engines, Google, you name it, all to no avail.

I first (and apparently last) heard the song about 30 years ago. I was just starting high school. I was living in metro-Detroit (but I heard it across the [Detroit] River in Windsor, Canada too, I remember).

It was sung by a female artist, who sounded a little like Linda Ronstadt (maybe it even was her, I just don’t know). The lyrics start “…are you lonely now, too 'fraid to be lonely now, are you lonely now, too 'fraid to let go…” or something that (it has been a long time, you realize). Then the chorus goes “…lonely, living on the gray side, lonely, I need a place to hide, lonely living on the gray side…only love can…” or something like that.

As I said, Google and lyric search engines are no help at all. So I have to ask, does this song sound familiar to any of you? Feel free to just speculate too. I need all the help I can get with this one.

:):)

It’s not "Bobby Womack’s “If You Think You’re Lonely Now”?

I just did a Google search on the lyrics, and No. But thank you anyways for your reply:).

I went to college near Detroit, and I remember being surprised by all the stellar local bands that never made a splash outside the city (like the Whiz Kids… amazing musicians). I wonder if it was something only locals would recognize.

Sorry because of this, I don’t know where else to ask this question…
I am also looking for a song, lyrics are something like “ready you ready stay awake until it’s dawn”, I heard it on Universal Channel few years ago, it was playing in a background of commercial for multiple tv shows that were airing on that program at that time, including Medium. Voice in the background also said “they rule the world on Universal’s way” but it was part of commercial not the song. Man’s voice was singing the song, it sounded like pop song probably released in 21st centtury but I’m not sure. Any ideas? I used Google and YouTube search engine but didn’t find what I am looking for.
