Someone I showed that to pointed out that the woman’s shirt doesnt have the sharp points on the stars, and that the star seems to be outlined, so it could be different.
You could be right, but what are the odds that she’d have an Israeli shirt on and happen to be there when an Israelite is talking about healthcare in Israel. Was this an all-Israeli event or something?
Nitpick: Israelites were ancient people (or if you want, a lineage that’s been carried down), Israelis are the modern people from the state of Israel.
Nor is her shirt (which is easy to pick out as an IDF shirt) all that weird, if you really think about it. There are plenty of RR’ers who support Israel only because they believe it’ll lead to Armageddon where all the Jews either convert or are slaughtered. Support for Israeli, paradoxically, can sometimems actually evince an intense hatred of Judaism, Jewishness and Jews. Of course, she was most likely just an asshole troll who yelled the first thing on her mind to try to upset a Jew.
Maybe she thought she needed to set this wayward Israeli straight by reminding him that Hitler was a man of the left, and a socialist to boot? Maybe she supports Israel but thinks that it, like the US, is heading down the path to liberal fascism?
OK, maybe she’s just fucking nuts.
This whole confrontation wasn’t staged, though, right? Because that would just be stupid.
I had a feeling that would be the case, but I thought perhaps Israeli is only an adjective and Israelite is a noun. Strange, perhaps, that they don’t want to be associated with ancient Israel, since… they are… same place. And I’m done.
And I agree with all of the above that a lot of Xians “love” Israel, in the sense that they cant wait for it to get blown up and the blood to flow as high as a horse’s eye so they can get disappeared up to heaven and mix it up with Jesus and send Johnathan to straight camp. Still, though, I don’t see many people wearing IDF shirts, and the odds seem phenomenally stacked against reason that she’d be wearing that while insulting the hell out of a Jew.
Not that I’m calling shenanigans, I’m just boggled.
Doing a full screen on the frame at 0:59 suggests that she’s not an observant Jew (big cross earrings, and if they’re pierced earrings, that makes it even less likely).
What did she say “You ought to be something-something Obama something…”?
Oh, and remember, they’re not Jews, they’re “incomplete Christians.” Duh.
I wonder if they had simply named him “John” Straight Camp might not have been necessary. “John,” like our randiest, but straight, president. “John,” like a customer of a female prostitute. Even “Jonathon” would be better, but a cutsiepie name like “Johnathan” doomed him to yearly, unsuccessful trips to Straight Camp.
Parents, you are responsible to some extent for how your kids turn out. Give some thought when you name them. Even President Obama would have less trouble today had his parents named him Bernard.
I won’t try to quote it verbatim (unless you insist), but she was saying he should be against. Obama. Presumably because she sees him as insufficiently supportive of Israel’s security needs.
Shit, this is going to hit the blogosphere like da bomb, people all over the intertubes will be making reference to how this came out of an obscure lefty message board called the Strait Dope, and then Olbermann and Kos and Rachel will be crawling over us. Hannity and Glen Beck close behind, oh my…
We have to protect our own. When they come around asking, everybody answers the same: “I’m Davidm!” “No, I’m Davidm”
I used to read National Review. Jonah Goldberg would claim her. He probably thinks that mock-crying is the perfect response to bleeding-heart liberalism.
Could you understand all of what that nut said. I couldn’t hear it. But based on his response, saying that he’s FOR Obama, it would be loigical if what she said was accusing him of being against Obama. No? But like I said, I can’t really make it out.
If you want to be really pedantic about it, all Jews are Israelites. That was the ancient collective word for Jews. “Israeli” denotes the specific nationality of the citizens of modern Israel.
She was saying, in essence, “if you’re a Jew then you of all people should be against Obama,” and his response that he was neither for nor against Obama; he just wanted to talk about the benefits of universal healthcare.
