Rainy here too. I was going to go do gardening today, but the weather is being tricksy- the sun shows up, then as soon as I decide I should go out, and go to put some proper shoes on, all this sneaky water starts falling out the sky.
Finally got through to the jobcentre! That only took 8 phone calls, getting hung up on once, getting put on hold until I dropped off the system twice, and just being told ‘I reckon they’re just busy’ twice… Eesh.

I don’t have to go out in this mess so let it rain.
It’s raining here too, except now it’s sunny again. I was contemplating washing the car this weekend but it looks a bit pointless now that we’re forecast showers. I was amused to hear the forecast this morning when they said we were going to have “summer showers”, apparently they’re heavier than the ones we’re getting today. I guess that is the new description of a British summer then.
It’s Friday though, I may sneak off home early tonight once I’ve hunted down someone who can sign my timesheet off. I will eventually get an electronic one but so far they haven’t sent the right documents to the agency so I’m having to use a paper version instead. Not exactly a hardship, but it means getting a physical signature and then having to find a fax machine!
Had a 7:30 call for irk that I took from my living room. Does it count as leaving early ifn I don’t go in at all?

April has been flittering around on many other parts of the board, so she’s still near not here.
My big cool thing was yesterday I finally got my hour of training on the new micro satellite combo truck, then used it for the 11pm broadcast. By the time I was done investigating and writing notes I feel confident I can make it sing.
It’s nice because I was getting worried that I was falling behind on the company knowledge curve.

Of course as soon as I come over here and get interested in something the phone will ring.
Home alone which is always nice but I never know how long it will last.
Lots and lots of snow falling today. 
The teacher’s sick, so we’ve been let loose on the school computers.
Can’t think of much more to say at the moment.
In the last 3 days we had 90+ degree heat here in DC. Then last night around 6 the same front that is bringing you snow dropped us into the low 50’s and created a strong wind.
I had loaded from my normal Truck 5 to the new Truck 3 for the night earlier, and as a mere afterthought I happened to toss my overnight bag into the back, “Just in case.”
Thank goodness I did, ‘cause the shorts n’ t shirt I had on weren’t enough!
Back to cold wx.
Been a productive morning, despite the rain. Kitchen is tidied, carpets and part of the basement stairwell vacuumed, and carpets in 3 rooms spot cleaned. I know this is inviting disaster, but we’re pretty sure Higgs is finally housetrained, so perhaps the carpet spots are a thing of the past.
And, of course, she will now proceeded to expel all sorts of nasties from every possibly orifice, just because I dared to be hopeful… 
Still raining, but slowing a bit. **FCD **wants to take his bike to the dealer because the brakes are squeaking - the brakes he just had replaced. He’s doing a poker run on the eastern shore on Sunday, and I guess a day with squeaky brakes would be less fun.

Work is installing a small wall so that guests can’t see out of the room. This involves leaving the side door open so it’s FREEZING in here.
I don’t really want to post my writing on the forum; I’ve had too many Dopers (probably not you guys) decide I’m a worthless piece of trash to invite more stupidity from them. But I could PM people.
I’m more tired than I ought to be. I got my end of the biiiiiiggg project at work finished up.
I got pretty tulips on Saturday and put them in water. They would have lasted longer, except it turns out one of my little monsters likes decapitating them.
She doesn’t eat them. No, she just gets in there and chews straight through the stalk until the flower falls over. Then she moves on to the next one. When I caught her doing it, her eyes were closed in bliss, and I could hear the crunchcrunchcrunchcrunch.

Got a dumb call today. Keep in mind, I’m just the receptionist.
Guy calls, complains that he’s been trying to get through for awhile and no one’s extension works (he may have said days) and the website doesn’t work (as far as I can tell it works fine). He needs to order something, can he talk to someone? I apologize and explain that we changed the phone system and everyone’s extensions changed. He complains about that some more. Whatever. I transfer him to the guy who does orders.
He calls back. He wants to talk to somebody, is [my boss] in? No, and she doesn’t do the orders anyway. If he leaves a voicemail with the guy I transferred him too, he’ll call back. Well, can he leave a message with me? I tell him, it’d be better if he left a voicemail with the guy in charge of orders. He did, but he really needs to make this today. I assure him that he’ll call back as soon as he comes back to his desk.
Look dude, 1) it’s not my problem if you waited to the last minute. 2) I sent you to the guy who can help you. No one else can. I did my job now stop whining.
