Dindin is et with leftovers for both of to have N.O.L. tomorrow. YAY!!! I have boneless, skinless chikin boobs thawin’ out for tomorrow. I shall slice them into strips, grill 'em, slice 'em up and serve over a nice sallit. That should get dindin tomorrow and N.O.L. Thursday. I feel so efficient.
Fortunately for me it’s not a full-blown audit. All I have to do is show proof that I’m entitled to claim my grandson (Master Longsword) as a dependent. It’s just a matter of gathering medical records, school records, etc., made much more difficult by the fact that we moved this February into a new (and nicer) house than the one we’d been in for 40+ years. And of course, the paperwork is in a box. Somewhere…
I know I make it soun bad but it really is a nice little neighborhood.
It is mostly quiet and kind of dead end so we only get local traffic.
Everybody is friendly but minds their own business.
A good number of the houses are still occupied by the original owners, or their children or grandchildren.
Except for a few rentals, most everybody who moves here stays here.
The people across from us have been here for 16 years and I still think of them as the ‘new’ people on the block. Although further down we have some new neighbors.
I don’t know their names but we smile and wave.
My mother has been here for 50 years, next door for 51, the next one for close to that and so on up the street.
Well great. Starting tomorrow I have to answer the phones. I’m not happy. Also this means I have to learn how to use the damn phones.
There I was, sitting at my desk at 1020 and prepping for my daily teleconference with the prime contractor when I got a call from VWife.
“Can you come home? I’ve fallen and can’t get up.”
Unfortunately, neither her falling nor her inability to get up unassisted is a rare event in The VunderLair.
“I’ll see what I can do for a ride.” For I pedaled ass this morning, and it’s a 20 minute bicycle ride to get home. Fortunately, one of my cow-orkers volunteered, and got me home within 10 minutes of hanging up on VWife. I now owe Pam a bag of my precious NC peecans.
I found her on the floor by the couch, surrounded by confused animals. I could also tell that was about 15 feet from where she went down, and had scooted her way to where I found her.
VWife’s glasses were bent, her right ocular orbit was bruised and phenomenally swollen, her left shoulder was painful, and so was her right knee. Unfortunately, the left should pain probably means she’s completely undone the 2 shoulder reconstructive surgeries she’s had.
The decision to go to the ER was mine, based on 2 points: she lost consciousness for an indeterminate amount of time before she called me, and her pupils were unequal and reactive. The right eye was more dilated…
The doctor was a pip. No sooner than we told him she has an undiagnosed neurological issue that looks like early onset MS, and she was seeing a Neuro for it, then he got stuck asking if she fell because she passed out, or passed out because she just busted her noggin. Well, duh, dude, we just told you she falls for no apparent reason without passing out, so the smart money is on clonking her head on the wall/bookcase…
To wind this up, a CAT scan revealed no skull fracture or brain bleed, so she was sent home. I don’t inherit her stuff yet, Flytrap.
hugs to all who need 'em: roo, ruble, rosie, and anyone I’ve missed.
Extremely cute grandcat, Bobbio.
Been meaning to ask you, Nava: what city did you land in this time?
As an antidote,I give you, baby with French bulldog puppies: 11 Incredibly Important Photos Of A Baby Covered In French Bulldog Puppies
Off to think about work.
Yay.
Hugs.

I’m having to uninstall and reinstall Steam due to me being an idiot with uploading files to Dropbox yesterday. :smack:
goes to write “I know the difference between ‘copy’ and ‘cut’.” on the blackboard 100 times
I’m glad she is well.
I’m glad your wife is well Bobbio
Forgot to say I was glad VWife was well, Bobbio.
We saw our first bats of the year tonight. Yay! It might be spring.
GT
Cool.
Damn dog woke me up with the toe nail tap dance.
3:30 am and it’s 71 degrees outside (too early to do the math).
I’m gonna try to get back to sleep.
Damn mouse just ran across the floor.
I thought he got the poisoned bait and was gone.
Guess I’ll have to try something else.
I don’t know what the heck are the people designing those websites and the tables behind them smoking, but I’m reasonably sure it’s got to be illegal. VAT is straightforward, no problem there. But why is my withdrawal either zero or in four figures? Last year it was four figures, zero, four figures, zero. This year I’m starting with zero. WTF?
I’m glad VWife is Ok and that you have nice coworkers, Bobbbbio.
Good Mornin’ Y’all! Up and caffienatin’. YAWN ‘Tis 60 Amurrkin out with a predicted high of 87 and sunny for the day. Tomorrow we are promised rain and tstorms. Sari 71 Amurrkin at 3:30 a.m. sounds like storm weather is a comin’.
BBBobbio again, glad VWife is relatively ok and yay for good co-irker. I say Pam deserves a biiiiiiiiiiig bag of Nawth Keerliner pee-kahns.
The puppies be teh keeeeeeeyoooooote gt!
So, I sent out notices to 24 program participants last week about a mandatory meetin’ this mornin’ at irk. They’re supposed to be there at nine a.m. for three hours (shootin’ for less really) of job search trainin’. I wonder how many will show up. I wonder how many of the no shows will be surprised when they are placed on a leave without pay for three days as the notice states will happen if they don’t show up.
Now I need more caffiene and rumbly tummy is hongry. Then, alas, irk purtification shall commence.
Happy Hump Day Y’all!
Wow - I slept thru the night (mostly) last night. I kinda, sorta roused at one point to pull the comforter over me, and my left calf cramped, but that passed quickly and I was back in snoozeville almost immediately. So yay! **FCD **woke me at 5:30 when he decided to get up and get moving.
Puppeh and I have both breakfasted. My plans include 2, maybe 3, loads of laundry and a little more time working in the front yard. We’re “promised” temps near 90 today, so anything that needs to get done needs to get done early. I may try for some studio time - or not. Being retired gives me infinite flexibility!
Dang, **BBBobbio **- glad VWife is OK. That’s scary stuff!
**gt **- the only thing that would be cuter would be a pile of puglets and a babbeh!
**Prof **- good luck finding your box o’ papers! We moved here almost 9 years ago, and I’m pretty sure there’s a box or 2 we haven’t touched yet. We have a lot of superfluous stuff, I think.
**swampy **- I’ll bet at least 4 no-show whiners. Or is that too low?
Thus beginneth another day! Happy Wednesday!
I’m glad to hear that VWife is ok despite the doc’s best efforts and your co-irker definitely deserves a reward for helping you out!
I am on day 3 of new job, still haven’t broken anything yet. I had a plea from the lady who took over my last job as she’s very confused - for some idiotic reason they gave the job to someone who has no experience of student admin and dropped her in it at the worst possible time. Being a charitable soul, I went up to see her yesterday and showed her some stuff that needs to be done, and will go again next week if she needs it. I probably shouldn’t do that because of the way the dept treated me, and she said she felt really bad asking, but I am not the sort to leave her struggling with a job when I know I can help her.
Since it’s Wednesday, it is also pub day which gives me something to look forward to. Last night I watched the penultimate episode of Spartacus so am not sure where I’m going to get my fix of blood and beheadings after next week! A friend suggested watching “Britain’s Got Talent” but I told her she’d need to bail me out unless I could claim it was a mercy killing. In fact, several mercy killings. More of a mercy slaughter.
Swampy - I vote for at least 8 no-shows and they’ll all whine that you never said nuffin’ about leave without pay.
Blurf.
Attempted to walk to irk this morning, and didn’t get far. I developed a foot blister walking home Monday afternoon, and despite a thick 1) bandaid on the blister, 2) moleskin in the shoe, and 3) socks, I only made about a block before I had to turn around to get the Family Truckster.
I see new shoes with the next paycheck in my future. I’ve been planning a 60 mile hike for early May, anyone know an express method to toughen foot skin?
**BBBobbio **- sandpaper socks??
I’ve been hearing them since the end of February, but my first robin of the year was spotted Monday evening.
I love Spring. The birds, the trees, the cleavage…
