I'm Too Old For This 5h1t - a Venting MMP

Morning all,

I has a blurf and not nearly enough coffee. Is it too early to have lunch? I forgot my breakfast but remembered stew. And I is HUNGRY!

Hey, tugig!! Has thisever happened to you?

Yeah, I’m still wasting time. What’s it to ya! :stuck_out_tongue:

There’s probably more than one. Ask me how I know.

MOOOOOOM and BooFae I fear those are low ball numbers. I foresee at least ten bein’ as I unfortunately do know what kind of slackers I deal with. Yes, one can be age 55 or older and be a slacker. Everybody acknowledged receipt of the letter as everyone was required to sign statin’ the understandin’ of the meetin’ day, date, time and LWOP as a consequence. I have them all on file. If someone can prove an absolute medical or family emergency then I can be nice. However, “I forgot” or “my ride didn’t pick me up” or “my training place said I couldn’t take off” (all training sites were notified that this is a mandatory meetin’) or “I forgot how to tie my shoes” or the many other myriad of excuses (they are a creative bunch, I’ll give 'em that!) won’t work.

I’m mean like that.

Walking barefoot on rough floor. Sand does wonders.

blurf

“I forgot how to tie my shoes”??? Is that an actual excuse they’ve tried???

I was awakened around 4am by a power outage and DH’s reaction to same. Turned out some jackass (to put it mildly) had found a master power switch to my building and flipped it. Can anyone conceive of any rational reason this switch was not secured???

Also, maintenance pager number apparently no longer works or no one bothered to answer it. E-mail sent to management to be dealt with when the office is open.

On the bright side, it was because of the outage that DH spotted and was able to report a dumpster fire at the shopping center just the other side of a parking lot and fence running behind our unit. Fire department came and solved it (we live within walking distance of a fire station).

Another positive note: I now know where that switch is in case this happens again. I am a bit concerned about whether I can operate it (DH had trouble, in a way that implies a fair amount of muscle is involved).

Must find puppy pictures. I need cute. I also need more sleep. Today isn’t too busy, aside from some needed defilthifying to prep for my very busy Thursday.

Thanks for the dose of cute.

That I can’t do, being diabetic. Besides, VWife’s quilting habit leaves free range straight pins throughout the house.

Nettie that is a hyperbolic example of excuses I hear. Some of them are about as lame as that. One has already tried the “my daughter needs me to babysit her kids” excuse. My reply was to tell her daughter she can’t babysit today as that would not be an exceptable excuse.

I am Mr. Meanie, I am!

I always suspected that **swampy **had a little grinch in him…

♫♪♫ You’re a mean one, Mr. Grinch… ♫♫♪

blurf, blurf, more blurf, and still much more blurf.

Yeah, no. Hasn’t.

I saw that one last night too and I am curious what happened. Usually when shit like this happens in the industry emails are traded and the sacred tv operator’s mantra “Look Up and Live!” is spoken like a Gregorian chant.

Wind is very very unlikely to blow a masted truck over. Any wind strong enough (hurricane at least) would more likely snap the mast. The likely culprits are accidently driving with the mast deployed (there are usually safeties for that sort of thing but I have never met a safety that can’t or hasn’t been defeated for one reason or another), or the truck was struck by another car, causing it to tumble.

Either way, bad day…

My worst day in a live truck was a four car accident when I was busy looking at a map rather than the road ahead of me. Fortunately no injuries. That was the day I went and bought a GPS to save my job. That was after I had been in another accident in a Crown Vic earlier that year for the same reason.

In the post accident manager’s meeting I was asked if I had learned anything. I told them “Yeah, I’ve learned it takes four cars to stop a live truck but only one to stop a Crown Vic.”

My humor was unappreciated.

Couldn’t they all get the poisoned bait?

It’s warm out he/she/it should be heading outdoors.

Why does it have to come in my room, with the dog that snores. It should go one room over with the Hounds From Hell and get eaten.

lost the quotes somewhere

I didn’t know French bulldogs came in white with black spots?

Very cute

Since you’re not a bird, climb a tree, you’ll like the cleavage even more. :stuck_out_tongue:

As for your other request, New Skin (aka Liquid Band-Aid). It doesn’t toughen the skin, per se, but ‘paint’ it on the areas where you get blisters then for the first few miles, that is wearing off instead of your skin. It smells like clear nail polish, so it may be the same stuff; try that in a pinch.
We used to be convinced WGAS took their weather readings inside a hangar. Every other local airport would be reporting winds at 10, 15, mebbe 20mph, they were at 2 or 3. I felt like that last night with WF, saying they were @ 7 & it was probably double that, but they did die out overnight. It was a forecast low of only 60° which is damn good for April, but a little chilly. Anyway, I slept on Murphy* 'til about 4am when I woke up cold so I went inside to the regular bed. It was nice!

  • Murphy is what I named the air mattress that goes in the “summer bedroom”, a partially-covered 2nd story deck where we sleep many nights in the hot weather. It got this name because last one up in the morning flips the matress up against the house so no birdies visit it during the day.

I have succeeded in clearing the dead cedars from the front hill. I also succeeded in adding to the cuts and scrapes on my arms, as well as including my legs today. I pulled out 3 stumps with my bare hands! Yeah, they were pretty rotten, but I still had to yonk on them.

I think I’ll run down to Lowe’s and get a few purdy flowers to brighten that dreary hill. I just need to be sure to plant them out of the way of the stump guy. He’s coming over on Firday to tell us what it’ll cost to have about 18-20 assorted stumps ground down so we can mow safely.

In fact, I just called **FCD **to see if he wants to meet for lunch. I need to don some decent clothes - I’m in sweaty shorts and t-shirt, with dirty socks and shoes. I can’t risk showing up in a People of WalMart montage… :stuck_out_tongue:

I couldn’t find the US version but -----

You sound too nicely dressed as-is to qualify for PoWM.

I hear sleep is a very nice thing. Trying to remember what it’s like (sigh).

No lunch with my sweetie, but I did go to Lowe’s. I got some knockout roses, some primroses, snap dragons, petunias, wax begonias, and some kind of ground cover with blue flowers that I’d never seen before. The petunias and snap dragons are going in the pots that held the 'maters (AKA squirrel food) last year. The wax begonias are destined for the planters on the front porch, and the rest will go on the hill. But for now, I’m eating leftovers before putting my grubbies back on and heading outside again.

I fear before the day is through, I’ll have to close the windows and turn on the air conditioner. I don’t mind the warm, but someone in this household is always complaining about the heat… We’ve been married almost 30 years, and he still asks “Aren’t you hot???” rather than just saying “I’d like to turn the a/c on.” Whatever…
