I'm wanted by the FBI!

Whenever I read messages like these, I am touched by man’s trust in his fellow man.

Imagine, FBI agents so sure of your complete innocence that they helpfully advise you to be sure and get a needed document rather than just going ahead and arresting, interrogating and prosecuting you for trying to launder money that they’ve already seized.

And Mr. Henry Missick, a hitman with a heart. Someone has already contracted to pay him $50,000 to kill you. But because he’s determined that you’re an innocent person, he’s willing to double-cross your enemy for only half that.

I can’t help shedding a tear when I read the sad story of Edward Hunt. Here’s a young man whose father was smart enough to accumulate a fortune, but tragically unable to figure out how to leave it to his son. And young Edward, rather than asking one of his friends, seeking out a lawyer or contacting the Irish equivalent of Children’s Protective Services, instead reaches out to a total stranger. Edward is certain that any random stranger, once he receives the elder Mr. Hunt’s entire fortune, will settle for keeping just 30% of it, rather than absconding with the whole amount.

Just goes to show that, all over the world, people are basically good!

I’ve often thought that we (Dopers) could write a 419 scam e-mail that would fool even the brightest. We should try!
