I just found this thread and want to add to the chorus of well-wishers.
The liver is, indeed, the only internal organ that can repair itself. I know from experience, as I split mine almost in half in a bad snowboarding accident about 11 years ago, and it eventually healed fine.
I hope very much that norinew has a similar outcome, or that a donor is found soonest.

When I read the thread title I thought “hmm, is a relative of hers hurt or sick?” But then I gasped out loud when I read that it was she that was in the hospital.
(I know, I know, she would’ve posted herself if it had been someone else, I don’t know what I was thinking.)
She’s one of my favorite posters on this board, and I would sorely miss her if she were gone. Another internet stranger is pulling for her!
