Hey, frecks and Lucky!
And hey to the rest of y’all too. :: effusive kisses ::
Why is it already Monday? Grumble. Don’t wanna go to work.

I’ve had a glass of wine, does that count, mousie?
I also think it’s very cool to have a safe place to go where you know everyone really well. There are people in the MMP that I know more details about than just about anyone else in my life. One of my goals is to meet lots more Mumpers.
Hi freckafree! We need a nickname…but I’m too tired to think one up. On preview, I see doggio has bestowed one on you. But…it’s much too much like your actual screenname. I like the confusing names, like Mork.
::waves at returniing Mumpers::
Painting requires way too much patience. Also, I need to be more skilled. I suspect I’ll be a pro by the time fall is over (at a minimum I’ll have finished my room and the outside of the house by then; I’m hoping to do more than that, but we’ll see how much I can stand).
I’ve finished one coat in my room, but am going to do a second. I think I used a roller cover that was a little too short; there are a few spots where the paint is clearly thinner than others. Could also be my less-than-professional technique.
Once I was done, I went for a walk to get some paint-free air (I have a fan pointed into the bathroom and have the exhaust fan in there on, so most of the smell is being channeled out of the house, but still, I figured actually going outside would be good), then came home to have a small dinner of Triscuits and cheese (grassfed Monterey Jack cheese from the farmer’s market - YUM) and a glass of wine.
Thanks for getting us started, swampy! And see…it’s Monday in Seoul, so it’s an actuall MMP.
I’m tired. Think I’ll toddle off to beddie-bye.

Ackkkkkk, did all of you see: MBG is in the hospital.
I definitely count myself as a wannabe mumper; I have only posted to an MMP once, but I read them frequently and will totally admit to fits of… not exactly jealousy. Wistfulness, maybe? “I wanna play with the big kids!”
I think today provides me with a good comparison: I am leaving the retail job that I’ve had for nearly seven years in order to move on to a much better job in which I can actually use the skills/passions I cultivated in school and Life So Far. Amidst the tumultuous, often frustrating masses of customers, I have developed many, many friendships, and it’s always been great to see familiar faces and know that at least I can help one person to have a nicer day. Today (my second to last day at said retail job), many of these friends and customers visited me to offer kind words and even a gift or two. So amidst all the wonderful craziness and anonymity that is the SDMB, mumpers are a sea of familiar, friendly faces, ready to wave and smile and make your day just a little bit nicer. And that’s something I could always use a bit more of. All of which is just to say, “I, too, love you beautiful strangers!”
Or at least that’s my (erm, not at all tipsy-minded) take on things. Happy MMP! Love and beer and chocolate to all, and to all a good night!
I’m not quite enough sure what my back mmp is that I feel secure having it patted…
I’ve decided to take my MMP virginity!!!

:smooches back:
But if you want to fill in for Lunch, you’ve got to pick it up several notches. I’m sure Lunch will kindly give you lessons when he gets back.
Because you’re in the wrong place. It’s still Sunday here by quite a margin.
iftheresaway, welcome to the Mump! And as swampy has already noted, you’re already one of us if you’ve posted here even once. There’s no getting away. It’s a life sentence. Come back often. (And you clearly need a nickname.)
How about petted? :o
The last time I heard, it was beer and cockies.
I concur with the OP and everyone else. The MMP is the place I can go apart from my real life and chat, rejoice, commiserate, and talk about the truly mundane and pointless. This is where I have found support when my real world becomes overwhelming. MMPers are the bestest ever!
Thanks for all the support last week, wrt the new “wing” and my stubborn mom. It helped very much, again, thanks. muwah
Hey smartie I tried to post some puppeh pics last week using photobucket as usual, but my links, on preview, went to a message that the photos had been deleted. Any suggestions?
Darling, don’t worry, you don’t have to take it yourself. We take it for you.
I visited the Central America Cultural Center last weekend with my parents and we took pictures - here’s me looking dubious and another where I look rather delighted about who knows what.
**kai, **that’s odd, have you logged in to your photobucket account to verify the pix are still there? I’ve never had a one lost and I’ve been using the same account for yonks… Also, re your mom–have you considered an herbal appetite stimulant for her? I bet it would help a lot, and isn’t AK pretty liberal that way?
**Haze, **stop being so ridiculously cute! Enough is enough, young woman…
MBG, if you’re reading here, I gotta say–don’t MAKE me get out my slappin’ trout, young man–why in the world did you wait around so long before going to the hospital? Men, humph!
Howdy, n00bs! The squid will be along shortly, and mind you don’t sit too close to Rm 304–Nooner’s on vacation but for all we know he’s vacationing IN Rm 304 and, well, better safe than sticky!
Hmm, it’s my original photobucket account, and this is a new error for me. I am able to log in, and the photos are still there, let me try a test pic.
Puppeh!
As for my mom, first she lives in Washington, although it does seem that Oregon’s tolerance is moving north. Anyway, that was my initial suggestion to her, and she, in shock, said that she could never! I replied that it is what the docs are willing to write the cards for, people with diseases which leave them without an appetite to maintain their strength. She volleyed back that she has asthma, and I shot back with a “Fine, I’ll make you some special cookies”. She was still mumbling, but I think her conservative self got a bit of a jolt when she realized that the herbal way might gasp actually help her. As for Alaska, yeah, it’s a lot more relaxed up here, and I am able to vouch for the muscle relaxing, pain relieving properties of said herb.
Okay, let’s post this and see if we see a puppeh!
On preview, nope. I’ll leave the link up so you can see the message.
Okay, what about some flowers?
Okay, that works…it’s not the link for forums, but I guess a direct link will work. Hold your breath for some puppehs!
Well, the URL that shows up on mouseover says that pic should be #2960, but when I go to your album the last URL for the pics that show up is #2959, and that’s dis puppeh right here. Then we have #2958 is dis widdoe kyootie bear, and so on in descending order. So basically your photobucket account doesn’t see anything later than that first link I posted. Dayum, dese puppehs is so adorabuhls! Them all like tiny bears and so fwuffy, squeeeeeeee!!!
Ahem. Yes, that is JUST how tech support is supposed to sound. Shut up!
ETA: Yes, use the direct links here, it’s the foolproof method… IMG is for HTML, like MySpace links and such…
Darned edit window! I was about to say:
There’s been some research that indicates that asthmatics can actually be helped by certain herbal inhalants, not to mention that there are vaporizers that also cut down dramatically on particulates, and if all else fails, ask me for my mother’s seekrit coooookie recipe, it rocks with great deliciousness and is VERY nutritious as well! Good for the old poop chute, too…
Thanks smartie, it was frustrating me just a schosh.
This is what I put together while you were posting the above,
Puppies outside getting into mischief. Then back in the house being cute and playing I can haz all the tois!
I would like the seekrit coooooookie recipe, please, and I am in total agreement with regularity, it’s a horrible problem for people on opioids.
Check your PMs!
OMG, those fluff bundles are so darling I just wanna eat 'em aaaalllll up!
Great OP, Swampy! You’re right about the lure of the MMP though, once you’ve poked your head around the door, you’ll never leave. I like the idea that there’s somewhere I can go and say whatever I feel, and expect to be largely ignored!
On that note, and in answer to rosie’s question from the last MMP, yes you did miss my birthday but so did pretty much all of the Mumpers so I’m not going to get all whiny about it! And it was in March so you’ve all got plenty of time to prepare for the next one.
New job’s going well, I am just getting into the cycle of things here - I picked a good time to start because the beginning of August is the only “quiet” time on the calendar here so I have a couple of weeks to get my head around what goes on here, then the students arrive and all hell breaks loose.
And I’m going on holiday next week. Woo and hoo!
Can’t sleep. Might as well post about it…
Up and caffeinating - morning all. Very nice OP, Swampy! I’ve actually been here for a while … been distracted by those adorable puppeh pics from kai. OMG, those balls-o-fluff are sooo cute!!!
Gotta get ready for work, though. Happy Monday, all.
Welcome, janis!
Argh. 5:00 is way, way too early to be up on a holiday, kidlet. Way too early.
