In Seattle, Tuesday night is trivia night -- the 2004 thread

We’ll be there early, as is standard, so we’ll get the table.

I didn’t check the boards at all today (until now), so I’ve totally spaced. I’m going to try to get there, but I may be late.

I had payroll last night. How’d it go?

We were sorta skunked. The winners were tied at 29 points, while we had 21. Bummer.

By the way, the ME that is associated with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome stands for Myalgic Encephalitis. Also, the Olympic triathlon does indeed use a 40km bicycle leg. We were thinking it was longer because the Ironman Triatlon is so much harder (180km).

Alas, triathlon is the one sport I kind of know.

Begging off again. Concert to go to. See you next week.

Some people. Huh.

We’re in - again no idea what time we’re showing, but will probably know later (I’m betting it’ll be early).

Who else?

Damn. I broke 500!

Yay me.

It’s … a … beautiful day in the neighborhood
A beautiful day for a pub quiz
Won’t you be there, won’t you be there,
Won’t you come to Fremont?
I’m in. Last one for a few weeks, until the film fest is done.

I’ll be there. Not sure when. Should be a very agreeable evening out on the deck.

I’m in. Arrival time uncertain, but between 6:45 and 7:30.

I will be there, and so will my erstwhile basketball nemesis, since his Spurs were ushered gently out of the playoffs by the Lakers last weekend. I’m not sure of the arrival time though.

Victory!
When the answers were read, we counted 24 correct for Origami Boulder (our team). The quizmistress was more kind, and told us we had 26, which tied us with Elvis for the lead. After a 5-question playoff, they had 2 more points, but we had 3. Jimi Hendrix as the opening act for the Monkees was the winning fact, which I believe was presented by Interobang!?

The weird thing in the quiz was question 39, which was read twice as, “In the comic books, what was the name of Spider-Man’s monkey?” This lead to much consternation. None of us believe ourselves to be supreme Webhead experts, but no one had ever heard of the Webslinger having a simian sidekick. We wrote down a total guess, which I can’t even remember now.

Then she read the answer: “Superman’s monkey was named Beppo.” Teams cried foul all over the pub, and the question was thrown out. She said, “Nobody got it right anyway.”

It was a good time, except for the weather turning cloudy and windy outside, which darn-near kilt poor inkysplotchy, who was wearing shorts.

We cleverly suggested that Spider-Man’s monkey should be named Spider-Monkey.

Heh.
P.S. Frickin’ Loosiana.

I even have most of the feeling back in my legs, so the night was a total success, imho.

Well, I’m in the mood to try out the G&D’s bangers and mash tonight. I’ll be there around 7pm.

I think my favorite idea for a team name is Onan the Barbarian. Actually, it’s the only new idea I can recall right now, but I do like it.

I’ll be there. Sometime between 7:00 and 7:30.

Remember, it’s week one of the “talk about Cervaise when he’s not there” festival!

You’re just jealous 'cuz I’m seeing like seventeen movies a day. :stuck_out_tongue:

I shall be there, sans guest this week. I will also wear long pants, so as not to turn blue.

I’ll be there around 7. Pretty sure I’ll be in long pants too (as a favor to fellow diners).
